I went to a bunch of stores, Super Software, Software Etc., and Electronics Botique. While I was at Soft. Etc. I got a GameShark 2, however what caught my attention was a little strange. Everytime someone paid, they would be promoting X-Box, not Gamecube, not PS2, but X-Box. What was kinda strange is that all 3 of them promoted it, saying how much better it was than PS2. That got me annoyed, saying "graphics will be superior" and "games will be equal, if not better". That is pure speculation, and they go off giving people who don\'t know any better the wrong Idea. What\'s with Nintendo, why are they getting the shaft all the sudden?

Info about XBOX and the likes are so scarce so little they shouldnt have even mentioned the name XBOX.
I mean XBOX almost is as if its does not exist.How could they know how good it is if they dont know what games will it have?Only one is very known and that is munch odyssee.Others are infamous and unknown by many.
PS2 has tons of known quality games.
The conclusion is they are stupid,idiots....I wonder why they employ such idiots in stores?
This shows that they have no gaming knowledge etc.They are just people that think only about technology.And technologgy means **** if we have superb looking games with **** gameplay.

It\'s not odd. The X-box has much more info available as opposed to the Cube. If anything however, they should be promoting the GBA, but that\'s just my opinion.

i know .... i was at softwere ect. and these people were asking what system is the best. they wanted the DC but the guy convinced him to wait fo an x-box.... poor dreamcast.

No, I recon it\'s pretty easy for them to promote the X-Box at these stores they just point to the PC software section and say "and here\'s the X-Box\'s impressive library of titles\'.

Although I like ps2 I would not care if somebody says xbox will be better. Because I am getting it anyways. I mean there is no secrete xbox has more power, but all that it is gonna be better does not concern me as long as I get my ps2 games like ff,mgs,and gt and so on. I don\'t care. Just keep cranking out the ps2 games. That all that matters to me. Even if xbox has better graphics. Ps2 still has it\'s good games so who cares?

yea i don\'t really think that nintendo needs a advertisement from a gaming saler - i mean they are nintendo - everyone knows about their up coming system and will no doubt be interested in it
plus i doubt anyone will be ablt to doubt them after this E3 - man they will show what they have in store

yeah, so what if people think Xbox is going to be better than PS2, as long as I\'m getting the games I like and I\'m happy then screw all the other idiots, and if Xbox has some games I\'m interested in and they DO actually decide to kick some ass then so what I\'ll just go out and buy one, no biggie.

this happened to be once while i was at a funcoland,before the ps2 launched, and he said that the dreamcast would win the console war, not by a small margin but by a huge one, he is just soooo stupid.....
i say everytime we have one of those idiots confront us about the x box, we should just rip on him because he has NO backup!!!
(i already did this atfuncoland, the same guy.)

Has anybody out there ever thought that by the time the X-Box is out over here in the UK (2002),
PC\'s will probably be just as powerfull, if not more so. I have heard rumurs that the 2Ghz barrier will be broken
come the end of summer, if not before. then take into account new DDR motherboards and new graphics chipsets also quicker memory. this may dampen the impact that the X-Box
has over here as it won\'t seem as spectacular as people
would expect. I feel that microsoft shouldn\'t have finalised the hardware yet, What with it bieng mainly PC based hardware
they could have left a bit of headroom for a better processor or something. Look at the prices of Processors at the moment,
a 1Ghz Athlon costs £150-£170 and this processor imho tramples that of the Processor inside the X-Box. Before
people go on at me saying, \'Well it isn\'t Microsofts main processor platform\' i would have thought that they would have included
a P4. hell, by the time that it comes out then there could be a P6 in the works.
Technology moves very quickly, i am glad that iv\'e opted for the PS2. The technology will be tapped more and more as things progress.
As for the X-box there are no developer problems, Bieng that it\'s based around DirectX so this platform will more than
likely show it\'s true potential almost immediately. I feel that this could also be a problem for developers, Trying to get
more out of the system in later years. Also the argument of shoddy games goes out of the window as
many developers have spent years working this way.
This is where the PS2 can shine, Things can only get better as new tricks are learnt. Time will tell.

This si no different after DC launched and EB, Babbages and S etc. were all saying "dont get DC, wait for PS2, it has better everything." They have a new funder, that\'s all. So quit whining, because nothign he said was false, as an opinion can\'t be proven wrong or right. Just do what I did everytime some pizza faced nerd tried pushing PS2 on me, laugh, laugh hard, then just walk out without saying anything.

X-Box is definitely more powerful and the Software ETC. guys have the right to hyoe whatever they want. What I don\'t like is that they are spreading a bunch of bull around. Last time I was there sombody was trying to buy a game and while he was paying for it the clerk started off on an X-box hype type rant. The thing that really got me pissed off was that this guy said that every single Final Fantasy after ten was actually going to be an X-box exclusive!
Where the hell did he get that info from?! He must be an undercover Squaresoft CEO.

well this is strange, cause software etc. is the only store i shop at, at least where i get all my electronic opr ps2 stuff, and thye never talk about x box, always ps2, and ps2 this ps2 that, no x box , no gc, just ps2, and whats coming out in march, thats it

I\'m just glad I don\'t manage one of these stores!!! What employee in their right mind...stops a sale!??!!!
Don\'t argue, "but they\'ll blow their money on something \'not as good\' as it will be down the road" cuz \'down the road\' will ALWAYS be better than today. Forget it; if you are a salesperson, then SELL!!! Turn your customer onto whatever they have in their hand.
Ask a customer what they like, what they play, what they want...THAT makes a sale! *Telling* the customer what they want is moronic and does not close a deal. Oh, the salesperson may glorify themselves in the false-belief that they are an all-knowing god, but the fact is, the cash drawer does not ring on vaporware.
And don\'t tell me, "yes, but X-box will be different..." This is not about X-box (when X-box comes out,...believe me, someone else will have a console crusher hitting the market within 6 months of X-box that will be said to pulverize MS\'s lil\' baby)...this is about selling gamers on gaming...plain and simple.

Hmmm, I do all my game shooping at Software Ect and I get none of this crap either. But believe me, if the next time I go there, they try to shove some XBox crap down my throat, well, I don\'t know what I\'ll do, but I\'ll tell you all if they do.

see you can not really cliam that this happens everywhere becuase this is one instance of a lot of stores
i go to babbages - a software etc affiliate - and they never push any console on anyone - well the ones that are gamers don\'t - they have a few people who just want the job and don\'t know much about games - but anyway most of the time they help out the customer with true and honest info about stuff, they never try to say their opion - they just try to sell the product

I have to somewhat disagree with you. Just selling the customer what they have in their hand to make a profit is bad for long term business. When I worked in Atlanta. If there was something better than what the customer had in their hand we would tell them. The customer usually went with what we said and kept coming back as a repeat customer. I am not talking about telling them to not buy a console because one is coming out months later, just things in the store or that were coming out soon. Trust me it worked because we were the TOP store in our region. We had the most DC AND PS2 preorders. You have to remember that they trust you to sell them what they need(If they know you are not on commision). By just selling the employee whatever they have in their hand and it turn out to be crap they might not come back because they don\'t turust the employees. I am talking from being on both sides of the fence.

Obvioulsy Nintendo has no intention of being #1, there just going to be Nintendo.
Obviously MS is pushing the Xbox cause it wants it to be extremly succesful.
Obviously rumors about Sony asking stores to stop promoting Xbox are with good reason. Sony can\'t sit back and allow stores who make money off of Sony products tell potential customers not to buy there product cause the competiton is better.
And Game Stores should not be on the take with all this BS, they should reamin neutral, but obviously its a war.

i have no problems at these stores pushing any one console product on me,bout the only gripe i have with them is when they try to explain (game / console / etc.) info to me,i seem to know more about it than they do..haha
