Title: DC editor flames MGS (2)!
Post by: Knotter8 on February 18, 2001, 01:46:39 PM
I Just read this preview at Dailyradar UK on \'Headhunter\',
an upcoming DC game.
From start this guy draws a comparison to MGS.
But he then goes on that MGS\'s large cutscenes are it\'s
weakness and these will be MGS2\'s demise, causing gamers
to rather play THief2, Deus X or this new game Headhunter.
Can you believe it, a DC editor flaming MGS because of
it\'s superb plot driven cutscenes?
I immediately mailed him a reply containing my opinion and
saying he is not in the position as a DC editor, in the dying period of the DC,to make the MGS games look bad !

Actually I didn\'t like the over load of cut-scenes in tghe first MGS. I thought they should of includid more game play instead of all the FMV. But we are all entitled to our own opinions.

You NEED cut scenes. To draw a plot in the game. Without them.. Where would we be.

ye ai have to agree with soulgrind - you need the cut scences to help furhter the game

just like the FMVs in FFVII- FFIX - they help you see and decipher the plot through video and words - i think that FMV\'s are needed to make sense of a game at points - plus they are just plain cool

either way i don\'t think they affect a game enough to make it a bad game

ok, You are allowed to voice your opinion about his article but he is not allowed to voice his opinion. I find this hypocritical.

As for cut-scenes affecting the game, I think D2 for the DC had a ridiculous amount of cutscenes. It had a cut scene for everything from opening doors to picking up ammo. It really got tedious.

Gohan,..
This guy was actually saying that, about MGS is if it
were a FACT that alot of plotdriven cutscenes make it a
lesser game.
He also went on to say that Thief2 and DeusX ARE superior
to MGS2 already because he believes MGS2 to have lots of
cutscenes as well; he states this as fact also !
Yeah everyone is indeed entitled to their own opinion, but
this is rediculous. I respect everyones opinion, but obviously he doesn\'t.
Especially because he includes this "fact" in his preview
about this DC game.
I wish good games for DC owners as well but there\'s no reason for his rancune towards MGS ( playstation ).

I went and read the article here (http://www.dailyradar.co.uk/features/game_feature_page_444_1.html) and it didn\'t seem like he was saying MGS2 was garbage. In his opinion, Theif and Deus Ex are superior. His main gripe is the gameplay-to-cutscene ratio in MGS and MGS2. I don\'t fault him on his opinion because I know that I am going to get MGS2 anyway. I think that you shouldn\'t sweat it much either. You are still getting the game right? I doubt one comment by a Dailyradar UK editor in a HeadHunter review is going to cause MGS2 to not sell. If people like it they will play it, if not then they won\'t. Simple as that.

BTW, HeadHunter is looking to be a really good game.

Hmmm, maybe it\'s the way he wrote that upset me abit.
Or maybe it\'s just me who can\'t stand ppl saying other
games are better than Kojima\'s Creations.
I\'m just a sucker for MGS...
