yea from my understanding they are pretty much making DBZ games of almost every genre

that seems like a lot of different DBZ games - there will be RPG and FPS and who  knows maybe even Go Karts will find there way in there - it wouldn\'t surprise me

Wicked... DBZ as a 128bit video game.. Ahhhhh. The psx versions I’ve got Sucks. So hopefully they make this a fully 3d world game experience. Not just a 3D side scrolling fighter.  A RPG of DBZ would be wicked. The RPG version on SNES was aright. But on a 128bit machine. :D

Roger Arias, whose responsibilites include defining the overall vision, scope, direction and execution of the DBZ license for Infogrames, has agreed to answer some questions pertaining to the series of new games his company will be producing. His position encompasses finding and reviewing new product or licenses, developing new game concepts, negotiation of terms, hiring of development teams and insuring overall compliance with all phases of the development life-cycle. The games, which were announced November 30th, are in the first phases of production. Don\'t expect any screenshots for a while...

Here\'s a summary of what we know:

There will be multiple games produced for several platforms.
The games will be of fighter, RPG, and puzzle genres (possibly two or all three in one game).
There will be multiple development teams working on the project, coordinated by a central team.
Expect to see at least one game (if not more) released in 2001. There will be many to follow.
Following are the actual Q & A sessions:

(12/14/2000)

Q1. Who is the official development team?

There is a central group that has overall responsibility and will coordinate with all the other selected teams. This is to insure the quality and consistancy of the products, while avoiding redundancy. IOW, we don\'t want each team working in a vacum.

Q2. What games has this team created in the past?

A variety of 3D games. We have worked closely with this group even while obtaining the license, and I believe their deep knowledge of everything DBZ was instrumental in Infogrames being selected as the publisher. We strongly believe only true fans of DBZ are capable of doing the license justice. In this we are confident in the groups we selected.

Q3. What type of games do you plan to make? (RPG, fighter, puzzle, etc)

Yes! :) If you were a die hard DBZ fan, what games would you most want to see? Those are the games we are making. :)

Q4. How many games are planned, and for what systems?

There will be a variety of games on multiple platforms being created simoultaneously. We believe this is a long term project and additional games will be announced from time to time.

Q5. What quarter do you anticipate the first game will be released (i.e, "Winter 2001")?

Any game worth its salt takes time. This really depends on the platform and depth of each game. There will be some games released in 2001, and of course beyond.

PS. We recognize they\'re many resident expert fans that have strong opinions on what they would like to see. We would like to extend an invitation to the many DBZ fans to tell us what they want, after all, we are building these games for you. And yes, there may be some opportunities to get involved on a deeper level. We will be expanding our development teams in all categories, artist, progammers, etc.

The best news: WizardWorks will not be the only ones doing the games, if they are involved at all. The thought of WizWorks in charge of everything is quite dreadful. I\'m praying for someone like GT Interactive to get involved, but as for now, we have no developer names. They will probably surface in the near future.

We would like to thank Roger Arias and the rest of Infogrames for taking the time to answer these questions. This page will be updated roughly once a week...we\'ll keep you posted... ^_^

only time will tell if they dish out a great DBZ game lets hope so

I really never picked up on the Dragon Ball series.  Sometimes I see them on the Cartoon Network, but I don\'t watch them.  I really never liked them, so I really don\'t care about the games.  But it is nice to see how popular the series is!  I probably should watch a episode or two to see if it is good or not.

sadly to tell you the truth, even though the amercian version is ok, they censore to much, and make it suck, everyone says that it sucks cause they talk to much, well in the uncensored versions they fight way more, and it really bloody, i like the episode when krillin dies from frieza impailing him, but the series is good none the less

Cool!  I love lots of blood and fighting.  It\'s stupid that they censor it for the US viewing.  How do you see the uncensored episodes?

yea they do censor it too much becuase they are trying to seel the serires to a younger crowd

if you want the totally uncersored version not the dubbed un cut funimation version then you need to get the subtiltled versions - those are not licenesed by funimation, whom brought DBZ and made it big again

yea i defintely prefer the subtitle over the dubbed - but takes a while to hearing a different luanguse and reading the sub\'s take a while to get used to also

Hey, earth to the board, DBZ is a poorly written, animated show. It should never be watched by anyone because of its extreme suckitude.

This has been a message from your friendly nieghborhood idiot informer

Huh? Theres just as much talking in the Japanese version as there is in the American version. I\'m sick of people making such a big deal out of the Dub and original Japanese DBZ. There aren\'t that many differences. FUNimation leaves most of the bloodshed in the show now. They dont censor it as much as they used to(And if bloodshed is that important to you, the uncut tapes have it). The DBZ senshi dont swear that much... I know you\'ve all seen the fansubs, with people like Vegeta or Gokuu saying "f*ck" all the time or whatever... Its wrong. NONE of the DBZ characters have ever said "f*ck" in the series. The only swear words I recall them saying are "Damn", and maybe "Sh*t". Thats it.

Not that I\'m a big fan of DBZ, but I think the American dub is fine as far as DBZ goes. A couple of corny script translations here and there.("Mondo Cool"?.... O... K...) The voice actors could\'ve been better, but almost everybody has grown used to them, and they\'ve improved greatly since season 4.

DONT GET FANSUBS!!! Like I said before, people translate it incorrectly, and add in unnecessary swear words. If you want an accurate translation of the show, with the best possible video quality, get FUNimation\'s DBZ DVDs.
Title: And another thing...
Post by: Nu on February 20, 2001, 05:29:29 AM
The fact that Dragon Ball Z is so popular in the U.S. right now might cause Infrogames to just put together a crap ass Dragon Ball Z game. It\'ll sell millions on the first day, even if it was a crappy game. Why? Because DBZ is so god damn popular. I\'m actually expecting this game to be crap.
