Title: NEW Speakers, burn-in time...???
Post by: kirath on February 19, 2001, 05:56:14 AM
I have a question for any of you audiophiles out there.  I just bought new speakers this weekend.  Boston Acoustic VR20 and a Klipsch 12\' subwoofer.  I heard you should not blast your speakers for a period of time..  Do you know how long that is??  Should I leave my speakers on low volume for a day or so??  What is it that I should do.??

Anyone that can help it would be appreciated..

Do like this, Use the speakers for about 10 hours straihgt with medium volume. After this U can turn that amplifer to max not worriyng about doing damage to them. They need a warmup to work.

The top audiophiles recommend that you actually "break them in" which can be done 2 ways that I\'ve heard of:

1) Listen to above avg volume, almost to the point of "loud" several periods a day for about a month.

2) Try setting your receiver\'s volume at reference level (75dB) whenever you watch movies.  Do this for the first 1-2 weeks within owning your new speakers.

It\'s been a while since I got some info on this, I could be grossly wrong.  You could always make a post @ HTF for the best answers....

Now what about cables....  I asked then on a couple of other boards but I did not get much response..  I have looked at IXOS and Monster cables for my subwoofer..

I don\'t know what to get...  I need to opinions to help me decide..

go for IXOS, they are better than monstercablesin theory, only one with 75 ohms.
