I heard a rumor that DC was being discontinued. I noticed that at EB they were being sold for $99.00. Is the rumor true? I thought Bleem! was making software for DC to be able to play PS games.

Sleeping under a rock are we
Yes the DC will be phased out, and Sega is making games for both the PS2 and GC, and XBox eventually but no firm announcement on that yet
Sega will however continue to support the DC with quality titles for the next year or 2 but will eventually become a developer and publisher for multiple platforms

You see his name? "RPG4Ever" You all realize that RPG is a virtual rock. I know a couple of geeks who were gone for 2 weeks playing Diablo II. Talk about stinky zombies!
But yeah, it\'s still surprising he didn\'t know about the biggest news in video games since Square left Nintendo.

Sega did announace it will develop software and abandon the hardware industry due to its weak Dreamcast sales. That doesn\'t X off Sega off the list ladies and gentlemen, it will still continue to develop some kick ass games as well as I must add, own the arcade scene, something Sony wished they could do.

Don\'t suppose you have anything to substantiate this claim of a new Sega console? Link, press release, etc.?
Just Curious.

I have a question for you Draka, if Sega looses money on every Dreamcast sold.. why would any company want to build the DC\'s for Sega? What would they get out of it? Sega could pay them.. but it would have to be enough to cover the manufacture\'s costs and that would end up costing Sega the same high prices they\'re paying now. Sega makes it\'s money on games.. all the companies making consoles in this generation are basing their profit on the amount of software sold since hardware is too expencive to make a decent profit on.
These "contracted" manufactures would be getting nothing from creating DCs.. and if they did then Sega would be footing the bill.. which they can\'t afford right now.
There has been reports that certain Settop boxes and PC videocards will contain DC chipsets that enable DC games to be played on them.. that\'s a whole nother ball of wax.
Sega\'s hardware days are finished for now. Just be glad they\'re still planning to support the DC instead of letting it fall by the wayside.
