well i got it and i must say.... it is a very very good game!, the graphics i will give a 9 out of 10, the textures are out of hand they looks really good, when you zoom into the enemy and blast them out of the sky it looks really realistic, when they said the the enemy looks like a little dot and then gets bigger and bigger with no pop up, its true, the story line is very intresting, you can be 3 different people and the interaction between computer fighters is great, for instance if you are in a tight jam they will come and help you with a press of a button, or the will attack who you want them to attack, its cool, i give the controls an 8 out of 10 but you just have to get a little used to them, nothing like oni, but it ses both analog sticks and take a little bit to get used to , the music is pure star wars, in the intro it starts just like a starwars movie!

Thanks, good review. But I must ask, is it worth it to buy?
-
I\'m picking up my copy later on today
A couple of dudes on the IGN boards give it mid 8\'s to a 9
DR gave it a hit, Gamepro gave it about 4.6 out of 5 , and theforce.net gave it a 95%
looks like a buy so far. I won\'t be able to play until tonight if my copy arrives before I goto work, otherwise it\'ll be tommorrow

if you are a space shooter fan then this is the game for you, i think it very much worth the money

Have you noticed the slowdown yet
DR and IGN has said there is slowdown in very heavile action oriented sequences, DR goes on to say its not much IGN makes it sound like its a little more frequent.
-
In small/medium battles the game speeds at 60fps, during heavy and very heavy battles it can even go to ~20fps sometimes however. Real time cutscenes are 60 or 30fps.
It really depends on the level, the first level goes at a steady 30, the next goes at an almost constant 60 (if I remember correctly)... one level later on goes 30-20fps depending where you\'re looking. about 1/3-1/2 the levels are near constant 60... I hope that helps.
-
how do you know your frame rate?
-
2 ways - number 1, my eyes rarely lie, I can count fps for some reason... number 2, I have a VCR that freeze frames by 1/60th of seconds, so I just copy a bit to a tape and slow mo...

ye ai played it at the mall today and saw there was a couple of parts that had some slowdown - but it was still very playable
the graphics are very nice - one thing i couldn\'t stand was trying to find those dang enemies in the space levels - but that may be because i had no idea what i was doing - oh well i got to the 5th level and failed my mission then i had to head to work

Agh, I\'d love to get that game... Unfortunately, all my money went to Final Fantasy IX :)
But I think I\'ll get the game as my birthday-present ( with Wipeout Fusion ) next summer. I think I\'ll survive there with the company of you, and FFIX.
I\'ve read many reviews of the game now, and I gotta say the average overall feel of the game has been very positive indeed.

yeah i noticed the slowdown when i sarted getting into the really thick fights, but you know what, it doesnt even bother me, it doesnt look like its going to slow, and what do you expect when there are lik 25- 35 ships on the screen at 1 time, all shooting and getting blown up, and manuvering, its gonna happen, but it really doesnt bother me that much

My initial impression with this game is ok.
I\'d give it an 8 out of 10.
The graphics are pretty good at times, but it still doesn\'t live up to my expectations for PS2 games. I\'ve only done 4 or 5 missions.
I\'m struggling a little trying to realize my objectives, but as I play more I start to get the feel of what I need to be doing
Some of the medals you need to earn seem like very difficult goals to attain, which will either add replay value or frustration. Time will tell
Slowdown is present, and noticeable at times. The game remains playable, but I\'m getting tired of this occurence.
I\'m still having fun, and probably will enjoy the game more after playing it for awhile and getting more proficient with the controls, the levels, and the objectives.

I just bought this game on my lunch break..I had to, I have always been a big fan of Lucas Arts games. So I had to do it. Plus my co-worker bought a PS2 while we were there. Great is it not. So now like everyone I work with has a PS2, well 3 of them do. But I was the first and now they are finally listening to me.
I will put up my review in this thread tommorow.. I see no need in starting a whole bunch of star wars threads.. till then :D

I must start off by saying that this is the best game for the PSX2 so far.. Forget Oni, and all that mess.. But I also must say that I am a big fan of space flight simulators, there is nothing else like going full speed 2 inches away from the ground and the canyons walls.
The controlls and the physical are extremly good. Slowing down and going to turn you can actually get your ship to slide, stop, start going forward again.. I think this is awesome becuase once you get good you can slide right in behind an enemy fighter and take him right down..
Now the battles...Space battles are aweseom, flying around capatial ships, swinging around asteroids to catch thost annoying little fighters. But when it comes to planet battles...Ohh My gawd... Watching the drop ships come down out of the clouds and dropping off land troops and tanks is absolutley awesome. Then you have fighters comming down protecting the drop ships... REally cool.. And once I got to the 7 mission I started getting my but kicked. Which makes me happy, because I don\'t like walking through games. So I am refining my flying skills a little..
If you like flying games and you love lucas arts, there is no doubt, bite the bullet, sell your dog and go buy this game. I was not going to because I wanted to save money, well that was almost a big mistake.. I give this game a 9 out of 10.. Hands down.... Get it.

hey bro, let me tell ya, there are some defective disks out there, ok yesterday i was playing in the midnight munitions run level, and every time i would get to this 1 part it would freeze for about 1 second and then it would go back to normal, i was having a bit of slowdown, and i couldnt pass the level! i would get stuck because a scarab would be out of the screen and i couldnt get to him and it wouldnt let me continue until i killed him, so i knew this wasnt right, ireturned it and they gave me a new one, so i went home hopeing it was a glitch and i didnt do that all for nothing... it was a glitch, when i went to the same part i had to freezing and it went really smooth, in other words, if you have at any time freezing for like a second, you might have a defective disk. im not saying everyone is, im just telliing you guys, but this game kicks so much ars, ddaryl wait till you get to the last stand on naboo level, that level must be the best level i have played yet, your in this huge land scape, ad you defending this shield from hords of trade federation tanks, aats, scarabs, you name it, it so awesome, you get to plasma scourge entier hords of aat\'s to smitherings even on foot droids! i am having a great time witht his game, and i havent noticed any real slowdown now with my new disk

I do like the game, I just can\'t give this a AAA rating because there are enough little things that aren\'t quite right
Mission 7 took me at least 3 hours, but when I did beat it I got all the medals, Beating that level the way I did, really did feel pretty cool knocking out the tanks, shooting scarabs, and bombers out of the ski, and taking down all 4 dropships
What I like is going head on with a group of bombers when they get close I do a 180 and I\'m flying on the tails of 4 or 5 bombers its easy pickens and looks pretty cool
Still Level 9 in proving to be equally frustrating, but I\'m going for the command center in under a minute 1st and I refuse to by pass this. Those turrets are friggin murder
