Title: Final Fantasy 9 ?
Post by: Trintius on February 21, 2001, 11:50:22 PM: Just wondering if Final Fantasy 9 is worth buying as the game was just released in Aussie? Im actually after more of a Final Fantasy 6 feel or anything that is remotely as far from Final Fantasy 8 as possible, I have heard Final Fantasy 9 shares much in common with Final Fantasy 6 and offers a medievil feel which I think would be fantastic.

Any information about the game would be appreciated such as atmosphere, magic system, music, game length etc.

If you loved the old FF\'s and the fantasy-style ( black and white mages, knights, etc. )

But I think the ability-system ( "magic-system" ) is good enough. You equip yourself with magic stones, wich come with equipment such as shields, swords, armours etc.
It\'s little like the materia-system from FFVII, but still different and maybe not as complex.

Characters; they are loveable. The cute VIVI with his problems, and the walking style... he\'s just so symphatic... Garnet, the princess, is cute; Steiner, the bodyguard Knight, is just hilarious... The characters are deep and you\'ll grow to love them immediately. They\'re one of the best characteristics in a fantasy-game I\'ve ever seen.

Music; well it\'s good, very good. But I think the battle-music doesn\'t compete really with FFVIII. It\'s good but gets annoying. The music overally creates very deep atmosphere, and they suit the game very well.

The graphics are BEAUTIFUL, if considering FFIX is PSone game. The backgrounds are painted really well, and the characters are full of details and such.

Overally, Go buy it immediately if you love old-school Final Fantasy!

Post by: Bobs_Hardware on February 21, 2001, 11:57:53 PM: really cant offer muchg help, as i just started it...but it seams a lot more like FF6 than 8...its starts off a bit like 6...and contains many elements...the general consensus is that it is a great game, and that square have done well to return to their roots

although i still prefer ff7 over 6

it has a feel of Fianl Fantasy 6 and 7 if you ask me - it is a very good mix of old and new

the game is about 25-40 hours long depends on your speed

trust me this game is a great buy and the chraracters are really well done and you can really relate to them

You made the right decision. Post your impressions and maybe a review here when you\'ve played the game for a while so we can know was it match for FFVI ( wich is my favourite old FF anyway ).
