I\'m getting sick of not finding this ****....is it even out or what? i have not watched starwars episode1...yet, and i don\'t want a ****y VHS tape..so please give a link where i can buy...thanks.
-
It will be years.
Lucas has to finish them all.
I got tired of waiting so I had to buy the VHS versions of all star wars
-
we have to wait until like what 2008? for the f***n DVD???
lucas and THX are taking quality a bit far now(since DTV will become the standard in 2006 according to the industry)..
imagine the cost of ultimate starwars DVD collection?...
atleast it will give me time to save up for a wide-screen DTV ready TV and sound system....
looks like it\'s VHS then(quality eh THX?)...
-
Lucas said about year ago that they had special plans for the Episode 1 DVD, and thus they won\'t be releasing it yet.
But I haven\'t heard of any rumours that they wouldn\'t release the dvd until 2008!
I think it will see the daylight.. somewhere between 2002 and 2003. ( just quessing )
-
like crippler said..he has to complete them all and 2008-2010 is a good guess...
i hope they release it when episode 2 hits the box office(around the same time you guess) but if he HAS to complete them all first....
-
Everywhere I have ever seen says 2006. I assume part 3 comes out in 2005.

lucas is waiting for the FMD format. he knows DVD is a fad.

for a "fad" its become a pretty good standard.
-
See he jumped on the Laserdisk "fad" which ended up costing Lucas arts money... But that was a fad.... Well I really don\'t think that DVD is going to be a fad.. Even if another format is released America does not jump onto new formats in a day... I think it would be in the best interest for the consumers for Lucas Arts to release it... But no, money is there main concern..Which is okay to beacuse they do make great movies.
But I agree its pissing me off too that its not on DVD. I did find it on DVD though a little while ago, it was In english with Japanese subtitles... I guess it was in dolby digital too.. I will go and see if I can find it again..
peace
-
that would have been a VCD
-
See thats the thing, it was not VCD, I verified that.... So what now MM...???
Its just a FAD anyways so what does it all matter right..!!??
-
what is FMD and DTV?
-
FMD = Fluorescent Multilayer Disks
ie. "death of DVD"
DTV = digital Televisions
ie. "too expensive"
KIRATH, is the movie split on two disks?
yer basically watching an .AVI of the film someone converted from a cam
SOULGRIND, define "standard". you mean "the matrix" disks not playing on 7 of the leading manufacturers DVD players? thats MILLIONS of players [including mine] that had to have a chip upgraded to decode the signal. DVD\'s ARE FAR from standardized. theres been several movies out since that produce the same ill effects, scary movie, the kid, etc. i see it at work all the time. moral of the story is, "dont buy cheap ****"
-
so you think FMD is gonna replace DVD? When?
-
It\'s not a question of when. I think it\'s very far away in the future.
as DVD\'s are just really coming, and replacing VHS; heck, I\'ll be damned if these FMD\'s replace DVD\'s within 10 years!
But I can\'t really say anything that is based on acknowledgement; only quessing.

good cause i buy like 2 dvds a week, i would hate to think that they will be replaced in a couple years. I\'m just now getting dome replacing all the movies i had on vhs with them on dvd.
-
Phantom Menace DVD rumored to appear this Christmas. FMD is not the DVD killer. The specs are far off from being finalized, this includes the faggy movie execs who want to make sure these 1920 x 1080 discs will have state of the art copy protection.
DVD is too popular now to be a fad. Sony, Philips, Panasonic, and Toshiba will make sure of that.
-
damn i hope so THX...and mm you are WRONG, FMD is generations away...DVD is going to be around for a very long time...longer than VHS in my opinion.....we still don\'t have DVD players made to take advantage of H/S/D/TV for christ sakes...
-
Actually, DVD is 480p, progressive players take advantage of this SD resolution. HDTV can be 720p and 1080i. DVDs are pretty low-res when you think about it. Even NTSC broadcast can be sharper in many instances.
-
Actually I agree with mm to some degree. I don\'t think that DVDs will not be replaced immediatly but I do believe that they will not be around as long as VHS. VHS was the standard for so long because we didn\'t have the technology for anything better. Sure, CD ROMs had great quality sound and visuals, but not enough storage capacity for an entire movie. In my opinion DVDs will be replaced with a better medium within the next 5-10 years. Buts thats just my opinion.

You know whats funny?
Everyone likes complaining about the DVD quality of the PS2,
but I as of yet have had no problems playing movies.
And the Matrix wont play in 7 leading manufactures DVD players, it works fine in mine. So does Scary movie.
-
Quality and compatibility are 2 different issues. On the compatibility side, my ps2 seems to be working fine as well. Maybe we got a good batch. :)

Yeah, same here.
BTW, did anyone read the article about a PS2 at that Mac-thingy in Japan? I think it was on CoreMagazine. They asked Apple why they had chosen a PS2 to demonstrate some DVD-authoring program. They answered something like "because of it\'s high quality playback". :)
-
yea i think way too much money has been invested in DVDs by the consumer and manufactuers for it to be replaced anytime soon
also i have had no prob with my DVD player except my TV has a VCR in it and so it does the bright to dark deal - but some how i got use to it
-
"my movies play fine in my ps2" blah, blah, blah
in the not so distant future, you WILL have a problem watching a dvd, and guess what. you WILL think of clyde, and he will be smiling.
oh, and nplayer, who do u think you are telling me im wrong?
-
I have to hook my PS2 up through my VCR which sucks because it decreases the picture quality.
But I\'ve had no problems. DVDs play fine. No skipping or anything.
-
"oh, and nplayer, who do u think you are telling me im wrong?"
who am i? i am the person who is right and you are the person who is wrong..simple?...:D
-
pffffft, thanks for the smile kid
