Sega\'s Dreamcast console had a 52% increase in sales, and this percentage is expected to increase for February sales, following its price drop.
"Rather than jumping off a sinking ship, Dreamcast users are holding steady. In fact, they appear to be grabbing onto provisions while they last," said games analyst Sean Wargo. "Sales of Dreamcast titles were up 60%, peripherals up 3% and accessories 2%."
time for me to lock myself in the cage, before mm wakes up. he\'d really be upset if he caught me playing on his dreamcast
-
If he gives you any lip fling some poop at him.
-
Thats really good news. I hope this makes Sega release some more kick ass games for the system.
-
I ve been considering picking up a dreamcast just to have one on hand. I like owing multiple consoles. And there are some pretty cool games out for that silly thing. Hmmm whut shall I do..??!!

i was gonna do exactly the same thing, but i wanted it just so i could get phantasy star online. However upon playing the machine at a friends house. i felt that it could no way compare to the kind of joy i get out of playing my ps2.
also i didnt like the controllers for the dreamcast at all.
-
There are Third party controllers that are much more comfortable and in different colors:)
What game did you play? Are you comparing a one game experience to how ever many you have played on your PS2? That\'s not fair.
How do you get to this Third Place?

Your already there... that is if you own a PS2...

Good. It\'s nice to see that some people still care about lil old Sega.
Phantasy Star Online(50$)
LOL! The stores around here are selling off their DC games for 19.99$(including PSO)!!! And that\'s Canadian!!!
-
Hell yea, everyone should support Sega, remember, while theyre stopping console production, they said they\'d make games as long as its profitable. If games continue selling well all year round I have no doubt we\'ll see DC games after the end of the year. Besides, if they anticipate lower sales, they\'ll make less games, we don\'t need great DC games as hard to find as Panzer Dragoon Saga on Saturn was.... :)
-
That\'s very good for SEGA. I hope they make a lot of money. That way, we\'ll have better games on the PS2...:D I wouldn\'t want SEGA to lose all their money or something...that would be terrible...:(
-
thats all fine and dandy but sega should really stop putting money into DC. its dead. games are the future for sega. plus they can always make a come back with a super DC.

ignorance = bliss?

are u talking 2 me MM?!?

i think he was talking to the other "TheNonBeliever"
but who would listen to a chimp?
-
o your funny chimp. so just what was wrong with my post chimp?????
-
the question, my dear human, should be "what was\'NT wrong with my post?"
the DC is FAR from dead. VERY far.
"games are the future" is the only true, FACTUAL, thing u said.

As some of you are aware already, being a GREAT brother, I gave my sisters my Dreamcast as a Christmas gift recently (cuz I\'d pre-ordered & got *without standing in line* a PS2 on Oct 26th for FREE -- I\'ll get back to that in a PS at the bottom...). Anyway, being a REALLY GREAT brother, I read this thread to get them a deal for their upcoming birthday (okay, that really means that the deal is mine cuz these games will be birthday presents anyway). Anyway I got a mongo deal at my Best Buy in Richmond, VA this evening.
Here goes:
Legacy of Kain $4.99
Speed Devils $4.99
Tony Hawk Pro Skater $19.99
Currently, BB is offering $5 off one DC title, or $15 off two or more DC titles. So, besides the great price on the 1st two titles BEFORE any discount, where\'s the deal?
Okay, seems the BB system gave me $5 off at the register (by taking each of the $4.99 games to $2.49 each. Of course, I quickly pointed out to the young fellow (with 3 earrings in one ear...sorry if that offends anyone on the forum, but with or without the earrings, we\'d all admit this particular cashier had been dipped out of the lower end of the gene pool) that I was supposed to get $15 off for purchasing more than 2 games. He studied the circular with an ever-so-quizical look...then scurried off to get his manager. Cool...this one had only 2 earrings (thus more IQ, right?). Study, study, review, ponder, mmmmm, "Yes sir, you\'re correct...let\'s get that discount straight for ya right away!"
So what\'s he do? That\'s right, he overrides the Tony Hawk to $4.99 (ya know...to give me the $15 off for purchasing 2 or more games). Been paying attention??? Remember, the BB system ALREADY gave me $5 off against the first two games.
Final result??? All three games came in at $10.42 (incl VA sales tax).

PS. Oh yeah...\'bout that free PS2? Some of you know...some don\'t...I have a Toys R Us VISA credit card. It gives me credit vouchers for future purchases based on charges (you know the routine...). Well, since I use this credit card for my company travels (motels, airfare, rental cars, etc.) and every personal thing I possibly can -- AND pay it off faithfully w/ no finance charges of course -- anyway...I had over $500 worth of vouchers on Oct 26th. Mmmmm... Highly recommend this credit card if you are a console gaming nut!!!

I agree with the ape. The DC is far from dead. It has a lot more good games out for it than the PS2.(Although it has been out a year longer) I suggest you play some of the AAA games on the DC and then take a look at the AAA games on the horizon.
-
I think what bothers a lot of us (and me personally) is that we like to plan long-term. I don\'t mind spending my $300 on a PS2 because I expect to get lots of enjoyment on it for years to come. I expect there to be plenty of games to come out and keep coming in the years ahead.
On the DC however, things aren\'t so certain. Got some stuff for this year, but the next...?
It\'s kind of the same thing I\'m going through in my own personal dilema of my building my next pc. Should I go DDR or PC133 Athlon? If I go Pc133 I\'ll save $$$, but if I go DDR I\'ll probably have a much longer-lasting system.
So to summarize, different traits appeal to different people.
BTW Clyde rules.

I say go PC133. It is a lot cheaper and it is not going anywhere anytime soon. BTW, You should get it from buy.com (http://www.buy.com). I don\'t how or why the Memory is ridiculously cheap there but I don\'t complain. You can get 256megs PC133 for like $80. That is sick. I would say use PC133 just because of this sick price. You could get a tricked out system with 768 megs of ram(depending on the motherboard) and be set for at least a year(depending on what kind of software you plan on using).
-
Gohan I\'ll check it out. When I visit http://www.anandtech.com and they compare, DDR comes up with only an 8% advantage, but in the next couple years that could jump.
My current PC is PII-350mhz and 128 RAM that has lasted me 3-4 years. I\'d like to build a DDR 1 Ghz Thunderbird that would last just as long. But if the price on 133 is as good as you say.....Hell I don\'t know.
Also I hear that Windows will only recognize up to 256 RAM.
