Not really, just had to get your attention.
http://www.fgnonline.com/nintendo/news/17618.html
Namco doesn\'t seem to pleased with the sales of their PS2 games. It seems they have lost 55 million and it\'s Sony\'s fault. They have announced support for the GC (this is very old news), but now it\'s getting confirmed. Ridge Racer and Tekken Tag might be ported over in beefed up fashion. (I bet GC see\'s the next Soul Cally too!!)
Just to remind you, Namco wasn\'t impressed with the sales of Soul Calibur (which toppled over a million) and didn\'t pay much attention to DC afterwards.
Now, I\'m not saying that Namco will ignore PS2. But maybe Namco has found a new best friend. Future looks brighter all the time for GC...Now if they would only warm up to Square again.

...why not Ginko hates Sony ?

WTF? I\'ll just leave this alone and go about my business.

hahaha! That\'s too funny!
Namco got mad at Sega that SC2 didn\'t sell much more than a million. I don\'t see ANY of their games selling over a million on PS2. and PS2 has a larger installed base when you compare the dates of released big titles. You disrespect Sega, you go down! I wonder if TTT would\'ve seen about a hlaf million more sales if on DC? Probably. OR SC2, another million easy.
Namco is like EA, way too full of themselves. Their games dont sell well, they blame the system. Maybe the games just suck (my opinion, SC and TTT reak of crap, but of course I have VF3, and soon VF4!)

I know Tekken would have sold like crazy on DC. Every DC owner was yelling for it. But Namco has taken a blow and realizes they must move to greener pastures.
"Ginko hates Sony!!!!" I like it, maybe my next thread will have that heading...

I\'m truly sorry for you. You can\'t hear any medicore or bad PS2 news without getting in a tissy fit. Come on, its not Ginko\'s fault. He is allowed to post news as he sees fit and he didn\'t try to start an argument, like you are.
Give it a rest. By the way, if you are going to correct Gohan\'s english skills, you may want to check yours. It would be "You\'re funny." . Not "Your funny". Just a tip.
Namco cannot afford to keep all the great titles on one system now\'a\'days. In my opinion, expect Tekken or Ridge Racer on the Xbox eventually. I also wouldn\'t be suprised if we don\'t see Soul Calibur 2 on another system, other then the PS2. Though, I am sure it will also be on the PS2. All three systems coming out, will depend on third party support to a huge degree. Its great for third party developers. They can either (1) sign a contract giving exclusive rights to a game to one system or (2) go make money on each system. It is a great time to be a third party developer.

I think he was kidding around when he made fun of Gohan, but I could be wrong.

Come on Living-In-Clip,you\'re an intelligent person...what should you think if someone reports only "bad" news for a console? What should you think if BizioEE burst into a Sega-Forum reporting only bad news? Be coherent Clip :)
Give it a rest. By the way, if you are going to correct Gohan\'s english skills, you may want to check yours. It would be "You\'re funny." . Not "Your funny". Just a tip.
...so yeah is wrong.....Your or You\'re or You are is the same in a Forum...it\'s not an essay :) and however I was only joking with Gohan,I wasn\'t going to correct Gohan\'s english skills...You are funny Clip...

Namco will develop mainly for PS2,but sure we\'are going to see some game like RR5 and TTT on GameCube or X-Box!
"Next up for Sony is a networking service for PlayStation 2 consoles that are equipped with a hard disk. The service, which is scheduled to be rolled out in July 2001, is called a “solution package,”, and is designed to protect content copyrights and provide a means of billing users for content fees. The network will have a system that checks ID information embedded in the PlayStation 2 to verify to what information the console’s user should be allowed to access. One of the possible uses of this system would be to give PS2 owners the ability to try a game first, and then purchase it online by downloading it to their console.
The last piece of Sony’s network-related business calls for the installation of dedicated consoles—based on the PS2—in arcade centers operated by Sega Corp. and Namco Ltd. in the greater Tokyo region. Sony also revealed plans to roll out their own gaming arcades beginning in 2002. These dedicated consoles will contain the same processor as the PS2 (the Emotion Engine), but will have more memory, increased hard-disk capacity and a boosted graphics chip."
Ps2 will be the main Target for Namco...and Namco hates Sony is a misleading message!...don\'t be BIAS people:D
[/B]
-
I am not being biased. But, Ginko isn\'t a fanboy. There was no reason to try and start anything with him. That is my only point to all this. Yes, the thread title was somewhat misleading. But, it isn\'t the first and I\'m sure it won\'t be the last misleading thread title.
I don\'t doubt Namco will support the PS2 fully. But, I also think with a total of 3 excellent systems being out eventually, that it would be foolish for Namco to only focus the main titles on the PS2. If they focused some on Nintendo, it would help Nintendo a great amount. The Xbox is a prime target for Namco titles also.
For the record though; I am not trying to argue or piss you off Bio. I just think, Ginko had the same right as anyone to post the news without being bashed or what not.
-
Thanks Clip...
BizioEE, I wasn\'t trying to start anything. I wanted to see what everyone thought about Namco\'s statement. Take into consideration that Namco just might find a new favorite console this time around. It\'s not an impossibility.
And here is some good news just to show you I\'m not a fanboy or **** like that.
MGS2, one of the most highly anticipated games for the PS2, was finally shown in a playable form. And first impressions say...it\'s awesome!! The control is supposedly very innovative, the graphics are sweet, and it deserves your attention.
Onimusha sells like crazy...shows PS2\'s power.
Sony has sold almost 6 million consoles world wide in under a year!!
Jason Ruben thinks he is god... well that\'s not good news, I just find it very funny. Make a few Bandicoot games and you\'re god ;)
I\'m not a fanboy, and I really try to look at things objectivley. So I do take into consideration Namco might make a move soon. I don\'t say IT WILL happen, and I don\'t flat out say IT WON\'T.
-
bizioEE I\'m sure you mean the right thing, but don\'t take it to far, you like ps2, so do I and almost anybody else on this forum, just don\'t start calling people fanboys for every xbox or gamecube based fart they let go, I can remember these very very vvveeerryy long discusions of yours about what ps2 has over xbox and so on, let it go man, ps2 is a great system, xbox will have better graphics (though not so much better) big deal, enjoy your ps2 and let it rest

What is wrong with my english? People say I talk funny but that is because I\'m from Boston.
-
Nothing is wrong with your english, Gohan.
My point was, there is no reason to bash Ginko for posting an article of negative news for Sony. He also posted good news for Sony and Nacmo earlier today. He isn\'t a troll or fanboy who only posts negative news and causes arguments. Instead, he is a productive member.

Don\'t get me wrong Living-In-Clip,I don\'t bash people for posting an article of negative news for Sony...and I know you know...
...only and simply I didn\'t understand why Namco hates Sony...
- Tekken 4
- Soul Calibur 2
- Ace Combat 4
- Tennis Game
- Baseball Game
- Soccer Game
- Vampire Night (Arcade & PS2)
- Tales of X (co-develop by Namco and Telenet Japan)
- Mr. Driller New Work
- New Ridge Racer
- New Moto GP
- RPG from subsidiary Monolith Software
...and again I think you are cool Clip...so don\'t insult your intelligence...I mean...Ginko posted these good news 5 minutes after my reply...;)
However I didn\'t say Ginko is a FanBoy! OK?
Now stop to the polemic...now you know what I meant!
(Anyway...excuse me Ginko:) )

Well all i have to say is before namco goes porting games over to Gamecube they should play with the gamecube controller we all know nintendo pads are anti-fighting(except snes), but i doubt namco will make a lot of fighting games on nintendo the audience is just not there.
-
Namco\'s own Yasuhiko Asada seemed very open to GameCube development. "Nintendo is the one to watch," he stated and added, "we have great interest in making the GameCube our \'target\' machine."
Could this mean that GC be there new main console to develop for?

Did you read the very first line of the post. It said something like "Not really, just had to get your attention"
I never meant it to imply Namco really hates sony. It was just a joke.

I didn\'t post the good news to get on your good side or anything. I posted it to show you that I\'m not a fanboy.

You\'re excused:D

Its fine, Bio. I think your cool also. Just a big misunderstanding.

It hasn\'t been released. How could there be an audience for anything?

Contrary to what ppl say uhh nintendo already has a audience and it is clear that age is from mostly 7-12 and maybe 13. So if Namco plans on throwing over fighters like soul calibur 2 I think they should look at the audience first. I mean the top nintendo selling games have all been adventure type games. I.E Pokemon,Bonjo, those type games. When nintendo had a good fighter Killer Instinct Gold it did not sell well. 85% of nintendo\'s democraphic is under 12 and that is a fact even nintendo has stated this. So all I am saying if they wanna talk about ps2 caused them to lose profits. Think about nintendo and it\'s audience before you go porting over titles.
-
Some people are being very narrow minded. The GC will have more mature games, they have already been announced. For every kiddie game you can think of, I can think of a mature game.
The GC will probably reach a bigger audience this time. At launch alone, we\'ll have Resident Evil Zero, Eternal Darkness, and Flesh and Wire (may not be a launch title). That will set the standard for the rest of the consoles\' life. And right at launch it won\'t be seen as a kiddie machine.

You can\'t be serious. Fighting games didn\'t sell on the N64 because there were NO fighting games to sell. BTW, Killer Instinc sold ridiculously well. I don\'t know where you are getting your info.
85% of Nintendo\'s demographic is under 12 eh? Nintendo stated this? 85% of Sony\'s demographic is 13-17 year olds that think they are "Mature".
BTW, If Sony is the Mature gamers choice why is Sony trying so hard to cash in on the "Kiddy" market?
Examples:
-Monster Rancher 3
-Star Wars Super Bombad Racing
-Disney\'s Dinosaur
-Unison
-Disney\'s Donald Duck: Goin\' Quackers
-Walt Disney\'s The Jungle Book Rhythm N\' Groove
BTW, This is just the PS2. I don\'t have enough time to list the PSX\'s kiddy games.
-
why oh why do I have to defend Sony so much? why can\'t someone else, who is a Sony Fan (perhaps SonyFan?) pick up the slack?
SONY DOESN\'T MAKE ANY OF THOSE GAMES! get it through your thick narrowminded skulls, Sony doesnt make kiddy games, they hardly make GAMES. Nintendo makes the kiddy games that unfortunately consume the system. The majority of people whoa re waiting for GC are probably waiting for GC are kids. When their parents don\'t buy them RE Zero because it is too violent, guess what? Third parties will only publish their kiddy games on the GC, ones theur mommies will buy them.

Did I EVER say that Sony made those games? No I did not. i said that there are a ton of kiddy games on Sony\'s system. Sony was trying to cash in on the Pokemon phenomenon by having Digimon and Monster rancher games on their console.
BTW, Nintendo\'s games consume the system because there are no other games to speak of. If the only people releasing games for the damn thing are Nintendo and Rare, what the hell do you expect? I don\'t know why I feel the need to refute everything you post. Maybe because all you post is utter crap.
-
AlteredBeast...
Then who made Ape Escape, Captain Blasto, and Klonoa? I thought it was Sony?!?
Why do you keep saying that only kids will buy the GC, or their parents. Once they see the lineup, people\'s perspective may change. You\'re being very narrowminded to think that it couldn\'t happen.
-
yea personally i think that nintendo is doing a good job this time around and despite what people think they have got their act together and developers are seeing it too.
otherwise all these dev. would never give the GC a chance - the main reason there were all those kiddy games on the N64 is becuase of the lack of Dev. support
look at all the non kiddie games on the SNES - nintendo back then had many developers and also the system was quite easy to develop for
now that the GC is easier to develop for then that gives it a great potential to be as big as any other system with a large variety of games
while nintendo and rare may continue to develop kiddish games other developers will surely bring out some great mature games - and that is certain

ohhh my god call the police because a hand full of kiddy games where released on playstation to capitalize on the kiddy market. As compared to libraries of kiddy nintendo games. Bye the way i don\'t where u get your info, but sony has a huge user base of 18 and up. so your 13-17 maybe only represent a percentage of sony markets. You make up all the quotes you want but everyone and I mean everyone knows just what nintendos user base is. And Killer Instinct did not sell all that well on N64 that is why rare has not released another one and nothing has been slated yet for gamecube.
-
sorry Ginko, Namco makes Klonoa. and i wouldnt call Ape Escape a kiddy game because it is a tad too hard for anyone under 13 to play.
the other you have me on. although I wouldnt say Sony making one game that is kiddy would make them trying to make games that sell.
Also, is it Sony\'s fault or problem that PSX was the most popular system of last generation? So why were they trying to \'cash in\' on the kiddy market with Digimon, after all, doesnt a different company make it? hahaha you guys are funny.
it IS Nintendo\'s fault that nearly all N64 games are kiddy, because they make a publish them.

For your information, Nintendo has a large user base of 18 and up. So your 4-12 maybe only a percentage. When I was in a dorm my freshman year there were about 12 N64 on my floor alone and only 2 PSXs. This was not just a fluke there were much more N64s on campus than PSXs. We just loved the Multiplayer. We would stay up ALL night playing Goldeneye, Madden, Revenge, Goldeneye, and Goldeneye. Of course once in awhile we would sneak away to play some FF7 but that was rarely. In fact it took me almost 3 semesters to beat FF7 because we played the N64 so much. This may be an exception to the rule but I remember people that didn\'t have 64s going to the store to buy controllers so that they could get in on the gaming. Mind you that none of these guys were anything close to kiddie.
[EDIT] Now that I think of it, we did have some fun multiplayer moments playing "Knockout Kings" on the PSX.
-
Altered Beast how can you say EA sports suck
-
we are all entitled to our opinion. I have strong disliking for EA, because they bought out Looking Glass, shut them down, Origin, kicked out the main guy, etc.
they are just like Sony of old, buy, buy away!
really though? I find VC\'s sports much better, it isn\'t thhe same tired game I have played before dozens of times, but a new one with online play, etc.
They also helped kill my DC. them, being full of themselvs, chose not to support DC becausee ti was obvious it would fail anyways, talk about your self fulfilling prophecies, errgghhhh.
Eric Jacob
-
Hey Altered, take a look at this.
From NextGen
Maybe the craziest thing is the way game companies show fear.
We can\'t think that anything else was behind the bizzarely disparaging comments EA President John Riccitiello made about Sega\'s prospects as a software publisher. "It\'s not quite as though this is GM saying we\'ll make BMWs, but it\'s the same kind of proposition. They may look like BMWs, but I doubt if they\'ll drive like BMWs." Excuse us for not following the analogy, but if first parties are car companies, what does that make third parties? Car dealers? Parts suppliers? Anyway, John, Sega\'s software was never the problem, but maybe if you talk fast enough, investors won\'t notice.
What is up with EA? Why are they giving Sega so much S#IT?
I like the first line about game companies showing fear. NextGen rox. :D
-
Yes, they are afraid, because now, they have now met a company that is larger than themselves, that compete on the same console level. (EA still has the PC market down through recent purchases of Looking Glass, Origin, etc.)
They are also scared, because on a whole Sega MAKES and publishes better quality games than they do. I think EA was doing what my old signature said "You can tell you\'ve won an argument when it comes down to your opponent insulting you."
EA = haha!

Hey gohan I am not trying to get into some silly fight over nintendo with you. You seem to be a intellegent guy, but I don\'t know how you can\'t see that nintendo\'s main user base is not over 18. And 12 adult having n64 out of millions of kids having them is no compare.
