Is Onimusha going to be played on a fixed axis or will it have a 3d control scheme????
-
It handles exactly like the Resident Evil series.
-
like what Animal Mother said..
-
well I haven\'t played any RE games so explain in full detail using footnotes and handdrawn diagrams
thank you

When pressing left and right, instead of your character walking in that directing (IE metal gear solid) your character will turn around in circles. Pressing left and up or down will cause you to walk in that direction. This scheme gets bad marks, but I really don\'t mind it.

Sounds confusing...I think it\'ll be an awesome game, though...:D

can you place the camera behind your character because if you can\'t I already hate it
-
You can\'t, the camera angles are fixed. I can\'t believe you haven\'t played any RE games - make sure you pick up RE2 and RE3 when you have some spare time. Great fun both of them.

Why not Re1? thats the best one! My in my opinion, Silent Hill was the best game in that genre, if not my favorite video game
-
I didn\'t really like RE1. Silent Hill I never finished because it scared the crap out of me - the game just gave me the willies. I could play that on a sunny day with the windows open and it\'d still have me looking over my shoulder occasionally.
Yes, I am a chicken sh!t. An old one at that. ;)
Anyways, the RE/Onimusha/Capcom control scheme is pretty asinine at first but you get used to it. Sometimes, the control scheme inadvertently adds to the tension as a dog jumps out a window (or down that stupid alleyway) and you\'re fumbling with the controls to run away - much swearing ensues.

True the control scheme offered in the RE series can be a love it or hate it issue for players, but consider this (humor me here, I\'m asking you to *like* why I like playing games with this control scheme ;) ) :
The stick that controls your character (or the D-pad if you desire) *can* allow you to be more IN the game -- rather than simply being a passive observer. When you press left, your character turns TO HIS/HER LEFT perfectly in relation to their body and for me, this makes perfect sense. Pressing UP is NOT necessarily "forward", B-U-T if your character is facing [to the] left and you press UP the character moves forward.
Think of it this way...the stick or the D-pad *IS* the character...standing on your gamepad and as though facing away from you (towards your TV). So, pressing LEFT turns the character left (regardless of the spatial direction the character is facing on-screen...the character moves left). Press UP (think of it as forward considering the "standing on your gamepad analogy" I just mentioned) and the character moves forward. Add holding a button down while pressing UP and your character runs forward (rather than walking forward) Press DOWN (think to yourself "backwards") and the character begins to back up. Etc., etc.
If you can get yourself to see the D-stick/pad as a literal representation of the character, it can in fact become quite intuitive when moving through the game. Again, humbly, this information -- while perhaps confusing to believe if you\'ve never even tried the RE series -- should prove to offer assistance if you\'ve previously been on the "hate it" side of this control scheme...but possibly never thought of considering the scheme from this point of view.
