definetly a wipeout clone, but if reports are true and wipeout is delayed some this one looks like it can fill the gap

well can\'t wait to see it in motion anyways

Extreme G-3?!?! I played the first two on my N64. There was only one problem with the games... they were too fast! ( or at least the first one was )

I never thought they were Wipeout beaters, but they are Good games, and I think this will be good too ( just look at those pics and think they will go by you at least as fast as Wipeout Fusion\'s backgrounds will )!

Well, this is surprising and good news. Thanks ddaryl.

yippp ppeeee

i am a big fan of the series for the N64

i own them both and have beaten them completely

i don\'t think they are too fast but i am also very use to them - the game looks decent - they need to put a lot more detail to the bacgrounds - but the bikes and tracks look great

This game just plain rocked on the N64. Too damn fast but very fun.

Ps2 version looks sweet so far. Bit of jaggies seen early, hopefully will b fixed :)

IMO the first two games sucked donkeyballs. Too fast and confusing for their own good. This one looks nice though, it\'s got more than the 7 textures of the N64 games at least. But looks don\'t make a game.

If this game is as fast as you all say it is, then detailed backgrounds won\'t really matter

I could really go for a game like this, I\'m dying for Wipeout but this could be fun....

No word on a release date ?????

Extreme-G 3 is slated for release before the end of the year, it\'s on the main page! ;)

IMO, the two N64 sucked and the PS2 EtremeG will probably suck too. Nothing to get excited about people.

Wipe Out  killer? Maybe. Both series suck anyways.

Now as you said Wipeout sucks, Jumpman, ppl wont take your judgement as a serious word. or an opinion. As you think every fast-paced future-racing game sucks, am I right? :)

ddaryl: it IS fast. Many say TOO fast; and I thought it was literally TOO fast, making the bikes very hard to control. The track just swooshed by too fast. maybe it is a case of "getting-used-to", but I played the first game for days and never did.

Think about Wip3out; quite fast, then at least triple the speed ( if not make it 10 times faster ), and you got Extreme-G.

Wipeout Fusion - take the speed, double it, you got extreme-G.

Fast isn\'t big enough to describe it. AND THIS IS TRUTH, not some over-reacting.

SO FAST!!

I had the first one for a while, then sold it to my friend.  It does take a while to get use to, but once you master those turns, it feels so good.  I actually got more of a rush playing extreme G than Wipeout.

Both games have a good sense of atmosphere and I bet it will be beautiful on the PS2.

Thats simply not true.

I\'ll say something positive now.

WipeOut will be better than ExtremeG3,but they both reek of suckyness. :D

No actually your not. I like face paced racing games, I love the thrill and the rush of them. F-Zero for the SNES is my personal favorite. But these two games are just flat out horrible. It\'s my opinion of course but I simply don\'t like this two games because their not very addictive, amusing, fun, ect ect.

great graphics, viewing distance is quite amazing, but will this game be good in gameplay? I don\'t know (I hope so), but I personally don\'t like the bike thing, those hovercrafts of wipeout are just so damn cool, but on the other hand, if you look at those corkscrew it looks like a lot of fun! we\'ll see

I used to have it on 64 but i recently gave it away to my friend... I thought it sucked but i still beat the game and had a couple death matches with friends...

F zero was alot better

And i agree with jumpman i thought the wipeout series sucked.... maybe i just wasnt any good but the cornering was crap

HOLY $HIT!!!  I will buy this game on release!!  I love the N64 ones, the special fx, right down to the sound were just amazing.  This looks like it will be the game to own at the end of this year.  I much prefer XG to the entire wipeout series, but that\'s just me...

Yeah...this game is really, REALLY fast. Almost insane. I hope they slow this one down enough to enjoy the tracks and scenary. I love funky, weird, twisted racing tracks...:)

kool track designs,i always liked Wipeout so if this plays as good,i\'ll welcome this racer, but one thing to ask; does this game use weapons / powerups like Wipeout??

Post by: Unicron! on March 11, 2001, 02:06:49 PM
Personally I dont like the graphics much.Wipout Fusion kicks its ass graphically.
Now the only thing remaining to find is gameplay.
But I ll have to agree with  MeTaL=DeaTh.The track design seems interesting especially with those loops and the speedy looking tracks.
Looks like a game full with adrenaline rushing through your vains.

And yes the game will sure have weapons like Wipout,The prequels had a nice variety of weapons.

thanx Unicron!,now that i know that info,i might be anticipating it a bit more...if it was just racing it probably might be ok,but weapons will make it better :)

Ug, I\'m surpised Activision decided to make a sequeal to this horrible serie of Extreme-G. Honestly, it was far from a Wipeout killer. Clone? Perhaps, maybe it was a clear observe and copy process which wound up a joke. I owned both versions of Extreme G. I was very dissapointed I paid a single cent for this piece of crap. Horrible graphics, gameplay, control, plastic, label EVERYTHING! The 2nd version was no better. Fixing the controls a little, slowing it down slighty, but what fun is playing a game where it plays at 30fps one second then the next at 6fps? Perhaps its just the hardware, but I\'ve seen games that managed to push that much detail and maintain decent fps.

Anyways, that was the N64 \'burry texture machine\', PS2 could reveal a different story in terms of graphics, but gameplay and control remain a issue.
