http://www.gamepro.com/sony/ps2/games/reviews/12105.shtml
I guess this means that everybody is entitled to their opinions... there are the sites that relish in the success that is THE BOUNCER (ie: SONYWEB.COM ... GAMEPRO)
There are some that are indifferent to it (PS2.IGN.COM)
And there are those that just plain don\'t like it (DAILYRADAR.COM)
What do you guys think of the review? 5.0/4.5/4.5/4.5 pretty impressive numbers....
-
just like all games don\'t take someone elses word for it - a great example is Dynasty Warriors
that game got average reviews and some bad reviews, but the public loves the game
i personally will do what i did with DW2 and try it out first before i consider buying it - considering al the games this month - i gotta be choosy:D
-
i dont care about reviews, im still gonna check it out
its good to see some reviews for a diferent sort of game
-
I\'m definetly gonna rent it... But I really want a couple of other games this month so I doubt I\'ll purchase it.
I just have to see the graphics for myself...
-
gamepro also said that sky oddesy didnt deserve to be released on ps2. i thought sky oddesy one of the best games on ps2.
-
well that\'s good to know, just about every other magazine a game site said it was worthless... I trust the bouncer still... and I bet those 2 Hours could be at least weeks for me... I mean come on... I always loved the mega man series...but how long did they last... maybe a day or so... were they still fun... yes. Did I still buy them... yes... why? Because they\'re fun... :D
45(It\'s soooo cool)

Well, I was playing it all last night, and it\'s really fun. I like Rpg\'s and The Bouncer is like a fighting Rpg.
With every battle you get to pick which character you will fight as, and the others are controlled by the AI. You earn BP(Battle Points) that you can use to up your stats, or "buy" special moves.
The game(story mode) is rather short, but it was MEANT to be. Since the story changes depending on the characters you pick at certain times, their is mega-replay value. Also, by continuous plays in story mode their are secrets to unlock. Don\'t forget about versus and survival modes (which you can play using your beefed up characters from story mode:))
I think it\'s a nice change in the fighting genre, and with some tweeking this could be the start of a new genre.
I\'ll review it fully later:)
-
That Gamepro review isn\'t exactly thorough - how long did it take them to write that, 1-2 minutes? I\'d rather listen to the opinions of those on this board that have played it, and ultimately I\'ll end up renting it myself.
-
How long did it take for people to fhinish Tekken 3? 2 hours? Well...take Tekken 3 and use its fighting engine in a free roaming world and you have The Bouncer(in a nutshell).
But the hype killed it.
If it was marketed as a fighting game with RPG elements, toned down the hype, it would have received better reviews, I bet.
But Square didn\'t hype it. The media did.
-
I\'ll have a full review up tonight (a serious one now, not no starfighter flake like last time :)) I\'ll have the game today after school and i\'ll play it for 6 hours through and through and if I cant put it down, then I love it, if I can throw it out like yesterdays borscht, well... you get the idea.
-
Well there is a choice.. Shadows of Destiny or The Bouncer. Which one or either..???
Hmmmm
What is the general feel out there, what is everyone doing. I think I may pick up the bouncer, but should I just save my money... Hmmm
peace
-
Wait for Ryu\'s review, but by all acounts it seems The Bouncer is far too shallow and most sites are calling Shadows a sleeper hit. I\'d go with Shadows.
-
It\'s more of an interactive mystery movie.
But the story is enough to make you want to finish it from beginning to end. There is no escape if you\'re into this type of entertainment.
It\'s not for everyone, particularly if the gamer seeks intense beat\'em up, slash n\' run, run n\'gun action.
This is a mystery game with multiple endings.
-
I\'ve got both:) BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....sorry.
-
lol Cyg.
STAY QUIET AND GLOAT ON YOUR OWN TIME!!
-
I\'m actually pretty damn excided about The Bouncer, seems like my kind of game (great graphics and you get to hurt ppl).
-
well I am getting bouncer tommorow.
Can\'t wait, i\'m so excited. This is the first big game of march despite its current negative press.

With fighting games as deep as they are today, the Bouncer can\'t even be compared. Fighters have tons of moves for at least 10 people or more. The Bouncer has quite a few moves for only three people (from what I have heard), which is nothing compared to real fighters.
And I have to dissagree with you about "Square didn\'t hype it. The media did." Square is the one who showed us that awesome movie that showed guys fighting and using things from the environment. The real game is nothing like that -- which is a letdown to almost everyone. I agree that the media did hype it, but Square did a little hyping of their own.
What is up with Gamepro? I was shocked when I saw their review of The Bouncer. And right next to it, they had a review of Oni. While I don\'t think this game is great, I think Gamepro gave it a way too little score: Graphics: 3.0
Sound: 2.5
Control: 1.5
Fun Factor: 2.0
Also, like Deadly Hamster said, Sky Oddesy got an awful score from Gamepro, while it\'s IGN\'s second best game (second to Madden).
I guess it\'s just a matter of oppinion though. That\'s why I read reviews from lots of different sources, so I know what I\'m buying before I shell out 50 bucks for it.

I\'m sorry, Game Pro is the worst magazine available onthe market, not just game mag...MAG! They suck, and they think it is cool to give really good games bad scores, and really bad games good scores.

The Bouncer is a really great game, and GamePro gave the same numbers I would have given the Bouncer if I were to review it.
-
GamePro is a great mag, their website sucks though. But the magazine is good. GamePro and EGM are my two favorite game magazines.
However, I was a little shocked myself. But everyone is entitled to their opinion.
-
I subscribe to Gamepro, and I get EGM for free (thank you EB :)). My younger brother gets PSM. My favorite is PSM. They use reall small text, so they can put a lot of info (or a lot of rambling ;)) into one page. I can\'t decide which one I like more between Gamepro and EGM though.
-
actually there are about 8-10 more characters that can be unlocked i think
am not sure but they all have their own moves also
but this is in no way suppost to be a tekken typr fighter - it is suppost to be more like final fight - but with more depth
the review by gamepro doesn\'t mention anything bad about Bouncer and that makes me worry about their review - because i played it was not very happy about the Stupid AI of the enemies and your alies - talkabout no help at all - and a couple of other thing bothered me as well
