Lately I have noticed that alot of people seem to have a problem with the way I post. And for the love of God, I cannot find out why. I really do not give a crap about my post count, its nice to have a high number of posts, but it really doesn\'t do much for me. I prefer to gain recognition through the quality of my posts, not the quantity.
I very rarely post one word posts such as "lol" or the like. And if I do, it always has something to do with the topic being discussed.
Also, I have seen people acusing me, Darth Joyda, and TOBG of spamming just because we post alot. Well that is simply not true. We all share the same love of this forum and just like to post alot. I spend literally 99.9% of my time online here, at this message board, and I post tons. So many times you will see as many as 10 threads all ending with "Last post by Solid Snake 88". Particurally during the times in which not many people are on the forums, namely, 2:30-5:00 p.m. when I am home from school and there are still a bunch of people at work, ect. Almost everyday if you check the bottom of the main page where it says all the people online, my name will be there from about 3:00 to 9:00. I just spend tons of time here and post alot.
And finally, in Darth Joyda\'s "stop voting in my poll" thread, lucasbiggins said that it seemed Joyda was getting "Solid Snake 88 disease": replying to every post in a thread. Now lucas, I\'m not flaming\\shouting at\\annoyed with\\blaming you for anything, cause to tell you the truth, its true. As I said earlier, I spend massive amounts of time here, and whenever I post a reply\\thread I like to check on it every few minutes to see if someone has replied to it, then I post my reply, and go look at another topic, then I come back, and the process goes on. I just like to keep up to date on the forum happenings. And since I spend so much time here, alot of the time I am practically alone on the forum so I have plenty of time to reply to every topic that sparks my interest.
I hope this clears up a few things. I love this forum and all(most) of the people in it, and I will never leave until it is shut down\\Bjorn dies\\I die\\PS3 comes out and hopefully Bjorn makes a new site.

Wow that was good... I don\'t think you spam, I love PS2 too and these forums will probobly keep me sane while my PS2 is being fixed. If you want to spend time here then you should be able to without being ridiculed.

I read a bunch of your posts that have like 1-4 word replys and what not.
I don\'t really care if you spam but you asked for opnions.

Can\'t be bothered m8, I don\'t see how it would change my mind. I gave it a quick glance over with your talk of love to the forums and stuff and that doesn\'t mean you still can\'t spam just because you love something.
I said what I had to say and if you don\'t like it then...I guess you don\'t like it, simple as that.
But like I said, I don\'t really care/mind what you do in your posts. Just lending my thought as you requested.

Sometimes, you do. You take a "spells" where you will reply to every topic and sometimes just put "lol" or "yea". Which, is highly annoying. Then you will go a few weeks where you don\'t spam, and then once again repeat the spam.
I really could care less if someone responds to every thread as long as they don\'t just put "lol" or "yea". I get annoyed pretty fast then.
But, as I said, you just do it in "spells".

a lot of people do but you just seem to do it more often than most people since you are on so much
i personally have not ever posted one word replies - just don\'t see tha use for them
but lately you have been spamming if not with short replies then with something irrelevent or not needed in the thread
like example the whole "Solid Snake is Gay" Thread - you posted a lot of spam - like "Arg" and stuff liek that
no offense but i think you don\'t relize that you spam sometimes

I don\'t think you spam. Just because a post is under 10 words, it can still contribute to the conversation.

Hey Solid Snake 88, maybe you spam every now and then, but that is really often used method. One word replies. I may not suffer from them a lot, but neither do you. The thing is, your spamming hasn\'t gone over the line, SS88; nobody is annoyed of your posts. And that is a positive thing; think about it and be what you are :)
I gotta say that every minute of free time I get ( that means without friends, alone ) I spend here. That is because I know you people so well, and I feel some respect towards my posts. Of course that doesn\'t matter so much, if I\'m respected or not, but it would be sad if people just would ignore my posts because I am who I am. I will not let the Bjorn\'s reply to my sad thread get to my head ;) ( it is a hard fight \'tho :) )
Neither I or SS88 have nothing to worry about. We\'re "cool" :)
BUT I think these spam-threads are more noticed from those who post a LOT, like I and SS88. Everyone, including me, spams sometime; some rarely, some more often. But spams are noticed from a person who posts a lot more often, and may become that the person is called a spammer. Someones ( I agree with SS88 ) call people spammers just when they see how many names there is in a row. That\'s because they don\'t read the posts made by that member.
And I think the reason why my name is often around all threads is that it\'s very lonely time to write right now, and there\'s nobody to reply over my replies and threads right now. Always there\'s somebody \'tho :)

Could it really hurt to write at least a pargraph to at least 1/4 of your posts? So far, the ONLY post I have seen of your that actually spanned more then a paragraph w\\o being a flame is... well... this one.

When I used to spam I wrote about 3 lines for each of my posts. Sure they were pretty much worthless and meaningless but atleast they were semi-decent, the diet-coke of descent... :D
Do I think you spam? Of course you do. Thats pretty much a fact. I\'ve seen numerous 1 line or 1 word posts from you that are basically raw **** and are not worth seeing. If you don\'t having anything to add to the thread then don\'t bother replying.

That\'s a type of post you have done fairly often and is what I would classify as being spam. There\'s nothing wrong with short posts if that\'s all that\'s needed to make your point. But just replying with \'lol\', \'arrrgh\' etc is spam. Perhaps not intended that way, but nevertheless it is. I\'m sure you can see it if you think about it. :)

This is another example of a possible spam, if not meant to, but still is. I accept one-word replies only when needed, and we don\'t have those old-time polls anymore as we have this new system.
Seeing someone spam all the time is actually very annoying. To see a person post a post, then someone replies, then the same person whom started the thread comments the someone\'s reply by a \'lol\' or a :D , and does that to almost if not EVERY thread the post he/she has started achieves. Sorry, but this is what I\'ve seen you do SS88.
But, SS88, you still keep the spamming within limits. You are not annoying, and you\'re not a flamer ( actually you\'re very kind :) ) - so I have nothing against you :)

I do not want to get involved in this incident. I have recieved warnings and have stopped on command... end of story... Don\'t make a big fuss about it... people will start flaming, trust me, I know from experience.

well its very easy to spam in off-topic and not try to IMO , i mean look at all the topics that have been here they can be responded with 1-2 word posts but then again you can post alot more in them , im not talking about SS88 , im talking about off-topic in general.

So your saying spam should be allowed in the off-topic forums? Wether you are or not, if it was then why don\'t we just call this the Post Proliferator Forum... see, if spamming was allowed we\'d get "yeah!" and "lol", half the time the people have no clue what they are talking about... so no, easy to spam... just as easy anywhere else... but what you can do here is go off-topic... like it says...

Ya, see alot of the time you can get your message across with only a few words. For example, someone makes a thread to say when MGS2 will be released, so I reply saying "Cool, I can\'t wait :cool:" And people call that spam. Or another example, in my "CRAP!!" thread someone called it spam. It was meant to be a joke, I don\'t consider that spam. This is the Off-Topic forum after all.
And Ryu, if this is the ONLY post you have ever seen by me that is longer than one paragraph, then you haven\'t seen that many of my posts. Or maybe its because I usually don\'t split my posts up into paragraphs, so you just consider them spam. Either way, trust me, I post alot more than one paragraph.

I think that lately people have been to concerned about spam,if someone posts a reply with a few words in it they are just trying to get a high post count etc..
I have been posting like a madman lately I really don\'t give a damn about my post count.I\'m getting pretty close to the big 1k though I was surprised when I looked at my post count earlier today,man have I been busy :eek:
Anyways you ppl need to chill out about the whole spamming thing.And to the spammers out there (I\'m not talking to you SS88) the post count doesn\'t make you seem smarter.

I think it was you Snake, and maybe it wasn\'t but I think it was, that said you got only 900 posts in a month. And that this was short of your goal for 1000. Trying to get 1000 posts in a month is a stupid idea, first of all. Second, it can\'t be done without spam. Responding to the same topics over and over is what I have a problem with you and Joyda doing. Go back and read some of these topics where you or someone else has replied 5,6,7, even more times. Especially to stuff like "What pic should I have" does it really warrant that many replies? Say your piece, respond again if neccesary and move on. The quality of posting here has gone rapidly down hill, and it is in no small part due to these people rapidly on their way to 2000 posts or more. These are the people that invariably say the don\'t care about post count, but that is obvious BS. If I need to, I will go find that post about "only" making 900 posts in a month.

There is a big difference between craziness and problem. And do you call one-day crazy posting a problem? Again, didn\'t you read my thread? You should.

Yeah I read your thread, and yeah I see that Bjorn says to post all you want. That still doesn\'t change the fact that it is obnoxious to post in EVERY topic multiple times, even if you write more than a sentence. Some people would like to get a word in sometimes, and that is not always possible. You are a nice person, yes. You do usually post more than a sentence, yes. BUT, as the pic that mm posted, you do get out of hand. Do you really have something to say about EVERY topic there? No. Nobody does, not me, not mm, not Bjorn. Sometimes less is more. It\'s great that you love being here and all, but sometimes, damn, just chill.

For those that don\'t want to click on the link, Snake posted "This thread is too long." I like Snake and Joyda, who seem to be at the center of the debate. I would much rather have them here than Docwiz or Trin, or anyone like that, but at the same time posts like this one bring the quality of the forum down. Not as much as a troll does, but it does bring it down. Now some of the people spamming are the ones that gave us mods a hard time about not banning enough people, or not closing enough topics. They were saying that we weren\'t doing or jobs. Well, those people are gone and now we must do another part of our jon, and that is monitor spam. Be thoughtful, and considerate of the people that read and post here. If you want to chat with someone do it on icq, or aim, or irc, not in the off-topic forum.

All I know is that I cant wait to get my pic, and I have posting scrupples, so I wont post to a Thread unless I have something important to say, or if I feel very strongly about that particular subjec, and this has kept my post count down, where there are people who have been here for months shorter than I have who already have like, a thousand or so posts, and even though I want a pic kinda bad, Im not going to lower myself to the point of spamming.
It just gets on my nerves.

I\'m gonna give you some advice, from experience. The best thing to do is not to argue with a Mod, which you said you wouldn\'t. Next apologize, but you don\'t have to be sorry... don\'t spam! Like I said, I too was in your shoes... and it\'s no picnic... but what you gotta do is relax, and just listen to the Mods on a situation like this...
I\'m saying this as a friend... I know where you are, go on with your life... in a week people will forget you ever spammed and you can start all over again with a new attitude... and you can do what we were all put on this earth to do...

I\'m not really that concerned about this. Its not like its the end of the world. I wasn\'t argueing with Aaron either. I seriously don\'t remember posting that recently. Ah, maybe its a different post I\'m thinking of. Either way, I\'m not really concerned, no one seems to be really that concerned.

I, like some of you, are getting kinda sick at what is happening at this forum. Why are we so concerned about posts around here? Aren\'t we here to have some fun talking about games and stuff? What I am really getting tired of is some of the egos around here. It is like people who have more posts than others think they are better. I am really getting tired of this ****!!! I remember when I first came to this forum. I posted alot fast to get some friends and respect. No matter what anyone says, posts=popularity! Someone like Ddaryl for example, is sometimes held on a pedastal by the other members. Yet sometimes we forget that there are some new members that might have some issues or views that are ignored. This is just a forum. I could really care a less if I was banned right now. But let us all remember that this is just a forum.

Also, you may wanna pick up Zdemon at http://www.truelights.com It\'s a lot like csDoom but dosen\'t crash as often and generally has alot lower latency.

I think this argue has been now settled; on every point-of-view.
But always new roads can be found starting from the main... if you understand what I mean now.

These argues of what is spamming, and who is spamming, are plaguing this forum because spamming is very serious crime around here. I know forums where you can reply to any thread as much as you want ( be there every other message yours or not, they don\'t care ), and post whatever you want - it never gets locked down or deleted. I won\'t give the address, or what the forum is related to, but it has over 4000 registered members and is older forum than this.
Spamming is taken way TOO seriously, I think; as if someone spams once he/she won\'t be directly banned. Only a person whom spams all the time is called annoying and banned after awhile of humiliation...
But please, let us stop this argue here... ( has anyone to say anything wich isn\'t considered a spam anymore to this thread? :) )

What Snake just did above us is spamming. Stuff like that should be done through AIM, ICQ, or IRC. If you want to chat, set up a server, or whatever do it on one fo those. If you need to make one post telling the other person "Hey get on AIM so we can get this straight" then you can do that. Nobody wants to read that stuff.

actually that was me
and i never spamed at all during that 900 - i tried not to - i was just on this forum a lot because i was sick for two weeks and plus i would get on at school in btwn classes to make time go by faster
sure my intention was to get to 1000 - not 1000 posts in a month, although it came close - i really don\'t care a whole lot, yes i do care some, about my post count.Because poeple think that if you don\'t have a high post count and have been here for a while that you opinion is voided and stuff like that - i got tired of being ignored so i started to post a lot - and obviously i never really spamed or else you all would have been on my case - but i never had someone tell that i was spamming - so it is possible to post a lot in a month and not spam

Looks like me and many other people were wrong. There is no spamming being done in these forums. It was all a terrible horrible mistake. I meant "Great Postings" when I accidentally said "Spamming". Again I apologize for the mistake. My English is very poor, so thank you for helping me realize what I did. So Sorry.
