They Could.

They are going to put some new features in the dvd to make it the same as the xbox\'s features.

Drivers for the PS2 will be updated through software and later on online

right now there are no updates to worry about

expect progressive scan freezeframe capabilities with driver upgrades

I expect to see playstation driver upgrades that will improve PSX games on the PS2 but SOny will probably wait until they\'ve squeezed every nickel out of the PS1

highly unlikely that sony would do that, it would mean that sony would have more royalties to pay for the movie companies

but I heard that new hacked DVD drivers on a memory card for the japanese ps2 would allow you to play all region dvds, I dont know about vcds.

But it is possible, for psx there was this plug in mod thing to play them, or the white psx called "psx ultra\' allowed you to play vcds

Some Hong Kong Company will probably make a mem card/usb plug in for that then.

Even Divx. That would plain rock making a little proggy to do that.
