Title: Best Gangster Movie/Series
Post by: Crippler on March 12, 2001, 03:38:14 PM
Thanks to those voting in the Horror Poll. Now lets see which is the best Gangster Movie/Series.

Mine is Scarface, the best performace by Al Pacino as Tony Montana. A political prisoner from Cuba wanted to make it big in America. With world catching catch phrases:

:)

The Untouchables comes in as a very close second. Brain De Palma created a masterpiece with Kevin Coster and Sean Connery.

Wow you love you some polls dontcha? :)

I think Scarface is the best.(First DVD I ever bought)

My second choice goes to Goodfellas. This was my favorite gangsta movie until I saw Scarface.

BTW, you forgot Menace II Society. (Or was that just one of my favorites?)

Scarface is really good, but not my favourite, as it has always and will always be The GodFather. It\'s just so realistic, it has that mafia-atmosphere... everything just seems to be right in that movie :)

And the actors are brilliant! Marlon Brando as Don Corleone... wonderful acting.

I loved the first one, but the second one was somewhat let-down. Not as good anymore. But still watchable.

Another thing wich scaries viewers away from GodFather usually is the lenght of the movies. They\'re really long ( approx. 3 hours ), but they don\'t get boring.. There just happens so much.

Some favourite Quotes from the first movie of the trilogy...

--

"I\'m gonna make him an offer he can\'t refuse."

Don Corleone to Johnny Fontane about Woltz
(classic :) )

--

"You sonofa*****, do you know who I am? I\'m Moe Greene! I made my bones when you were going out with cheerleaders."

Moe Greene to Michael

--

"It\'s a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes."

Clemenza to Sonny

( this is the classic scene of the fish in the mail... very classy :) )

The point is, I recommend this movie to anybody who HASN\'T seen it ( but who wouldn\'t have? :) )

Why are all the movies American-made movies? How about including some Hong Kong cinema?

John Woo\'s Hard Boiled or The Killer?

I don\'t know if you consider these to be your type of gangster movies but they certainly involve gangsters.

I thought that when he said gangster he might have meant Mafia; but Scarface wasn\'t about the Mafia. Oh well. I still say Menace II Society should be up there.

Dang Crippler this is a tough call. Had to go with Scarface even though my favorite tuff guy was Nicky in Casino. Donnie Brasco was sad a gangster on his last leg. Pachino is the ultimate gangster. Now dont forget some of those good oldies....James Cagney, Humpfrey Bogart, and Edward G. Robertson. "See yea ya mug I think I\'ll sock ya a good one."
