MY parents and I are getting a new tv. We want to spend around $1200. They\'re pushing for this 50 inch Mitsubishi tv, which is nice. But, I really want a 32 inch sony Wega. Which one is better, or post other tvs that are withing this price range and good.

What ever you do.......get the Sony Wega TV. I think on the 50\' Tv\'s the games will look too large and you have to stand way back to play.

ok i have heard that sony wegas, are now obselite.
its best if you get an HDTV.. now that will be great, im not sure what company to look into, bu go HDTV, and you will be a very happy man.
-
well wega are cool
but i would go with a good ol 43 inch toshiba hdtv
they look just as clear - if not clearer than wegas and also they are lot bigger
-
wegas are very nice.
i dont know if you can get a 32 for 1200, but the new Panasonic Tau series are very nice in my opinion. i dont know much about this but i hear some bad things about gaming on projection TVs, unless the mitsubishi 50in is a tube (then im really behind).

A: A direct view picture tube will beat a rear projection TV in picture clarity any day of the week. So for me, I would much rather have the Wega then a 50" rear projection.
As far as the picture being too large on projection TVs, you people are insane. I have a CRT Front projector that I use only for HDTV and PS2. It kicks ass. 96" screen is awesome for Madden and SSX. Heck, the ships in Starfighter are bigger than most of your TVs.

I\'d go with the 32in wega myself. I would have had that tv now but I had to buy a new pc which I\'m very happy with but I\'ll have it soon. And Videoholic I remember that line from American Beauty. The first DVD i bought it rules man:D

Forget the WEGA seriously. I have a mitsubishi HDTV rear projection TV. I got it about 7 months ago and the damn thing rocks... Its very clear and the picture quality is insane.
But when it comes down to it, its just a matter of taste. Thats why there are so many different types... To fit all different tastes and types... WErd
Get what makes you happy...But since your parents are paying for it I would suspect that they get the final say.. :D

Thanks for the replies!

Hey don\'t forget that not all of have the cash to lay out for a HD tv... so must of go with the Wega\'s, Panasonics and Mitsubishi\'s cuz they more than get the job done and don\'t require you to take out a second mortgage on your house. By the way I saw an HD tv at the wiz and it actually made the discovery channel look intersting:sconf:

A friend of mine has the new Wega model with DRC technology, U get 1440x1280 resolution on that baby.
MGS2 on this TV is the way to play MGS2.
But this Baby costs a lot more then 1200

For me Sony Wega is the best for now. Buy it if you can. Great TV sure.

Hey Adan , I\'ve got a Sony Wega 27" KV 21 tb and I
thought i rocked ( in that $350-$400 region ) UNTILL
I discovered today it doesn\'t have a S-Video option.
I bought the damn awsome cable only to return to the
store an hour later.
I thought that if I just plug it in with my special S-video
to scart plug it would work. But my tv menu window didn\'t show a S-video option . So I tried it anyway and
the picture quality was great ..... and very black and white !
So later on I swapped the cable at the store for the F1
racing game from Ubisoft.
