I\'d just like to say hey, I used to post over at msxbox quite a bit and after what I saw yesterday, I just yawned real loud. Those games looked boring as hell. I can\'t believe that some of you were drooling over the graphics. I think Sony has this one locked up after seeing that crap from Gamestock. Heck, even Nintendo might pull into second place after that stuff. Anyway, I think I\'m gonna cancel my XBOX preorder and preorder a Game Boy Advance to play while I wait for the PS2 to drop in price. The info I wanted was stuff about the PS2 like how many games are in development, etc. Anything positive to make me feel better about changing my mind. Micro$oft, you blew it...

-If you get PS2 then you\'ll get games that LOOK just as good of anything Xbox can do graphically.
-Better developers on PS2 than Xbox which means better games.(big plus)
-No large ugly controller to get use to.
-A lot of good exclusive PS2 games this year(MGS2, FFX, ect) and not very many for Xbox.
I love hearig these kind of things. People seeing what kind of brutal disapointment the Xbox truly is then moving on to something superior. Makes me feel good. :)
PS: Welcome to the forums. :D Solid Snake is right, we do have an enormous amount of hatred for the idiotic gimps at MSXBOX.

I can\'t give you much info myself, but look around, you will learn much. One thing you should know is that there is a general hatred of the MSXBOX forums here. :) Those people have got to be the stupidest people on the planet(not you, you have wisened up and come here :)).
Another thing we hear alot from newbies is "How do I get a picture under my name?" To get a pic under your name you need to have at least 400 posts and have been here for at least 4 months. Once you achive that, PM(personal message) mm or SoulGrind(the two resident administrators).
Look around, learn, and have fun. :)

hi, there is a grip of sweet ars games beign released this month, i dont know how much of the ps2 you know about but i start with the simple stuff, today Onimusha and Ring of Red were released today, here is a link to the onimusha review so you can check it out:

it is safe to say, that this is going to be one of the best games this year, I dont have any links to a Ring of red preview but ill post one later, Z.O.E. will be released on the 27th of march and is going to be an awesoem mech game, alot of hype has been surrounding this game, and to top it off its coming witha demo of MGS2! Quake 3 revolution will be release this month as well
a few games have been delayed that were supposed to be released this month were GT3 " you have got to have heard of this game" will be released in May now, Dark cloud wich is supposed to be a Zelda killer will be releasedin April, Red faction, wich will be an awesome fps will be released in June. and sony will be releasing a 40 GB Hrad drive "wich kicks ars" in japan some time in July "no solid date on a U.S. release"
MGS2 has gotten a release date some time in fall, this iwll probably the icing on PS2\'s cake for 2001.
you get the dvd player of course, its a really good dvd player, not the best, but as good as the average ones out on the market. and there is a bunch of more stuff i can tell you about, if you have any more questions about it then just ask ill be sure to answer you as soon as i can, welcome ot the forums, as long as you have repect for others, they will have respect for you :)

xbox wipes the floor with ps2 graphicly,even the player models in nfl fever and football game not even done look better,that big ass jombotron.. madden is ugly look at the screens of madden.
only reason to not to get xbox is if you got really small hands,can\'t wait a little longer for ps2 games.don\'t like pc content without a kb and mouse.
i am glad my brother is buying ps2 because my ass will wait another year even 2,3 just because i know nvidia rocks when comes to graphics.

Sony will be hard to beat. PS2 price drop some where around Xmas

There are over 200 games do out this year for PS2. Sony has 20 1st party projects which haven;t been revealed yet.
Games like MGS2, FFX, Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance, The Getaway, Dropship, Devil May Cry, Onimusha, ZOE, Twisted Metal Black, Red Faction, The Lost, Run Like Hell. Extermination, GT3, Wipeout Fusion, Blood Omen, Soul Reaver
and so much more are more then enough reason IMO to purchase a PS2, and quite a few of those games already are on par with Xbox\'s Gamestock games
I still might pick up an Xbox but my interest faded somewhat with Gamestock.

Honestly, shut up jaggies. We have already heard your misguided, uneducated, twisted, and insane opinion and views on things enough. Just shut the hell up. Madden2001 looks better than NFLFever and that is extremely obvious, and it\'s only a first-gen game.
The Xbox was over hyped and now we see it\'s terrible truth. Live with it and shut the hell up.

I don\'t remember anyone changing the rules. As far as I know it is still 500 posts for a pic. Unless one becomes a troll then they get what ever new pic that MM comes up with for whiners/lamers/posers/trolls.

Anyways, welcome to the PS2 Central Forum.
The Xbox, too early to say what the games will be like compared to the PS2. However, what was shown, didn\'t impress me at all. Don\'t get me wrong, they look good, but nothing the PS2 can match.
The PS2 still has the support advantage over the Xbox (well, mainly Japanese support). Konami\'s main focus right now, PS2. This will stay true until...PS2 fails (which isn\'t likely). PS2 has tons of games coming that are pretty amazing looking (matching what the Xbox shown at Gamestock). Soul Reaver 2, The Getaway, GT3, Shadow of Memories, Silent Hill 2, Extermination, RE4, Omnimusha, MGS2 (of coarse), The Lost, Run Like Hell, Red Fraction, and this is all on the top of my head. PS2 has plenty of life in it.

If you are a fan of the World Rally Championship then sony have brought the licence for 5 years. This console will
be the only place that you will see official drivers/logos/stages/car decals etc.... This is one hell of a big bonus for me.

Leatherface, there are three XBox related events this month. Gamestock is one, it was just the beginning, now it\'s over. Next week (20th-24th) we have the Games Developers Conference (GDC) which is usually a good event for major announcements, and an opportunity for developers to show off! Then there\'s the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) at the end of the month (Bill Gates will be present also).
So tell me, you have an awesome XBox game to announce to the world, which event would you choose to show your game for the first time? Think about it!
Hence over the next two weeks, expect many XBox announcements to be made, and a FAR greater range of XBox software to be shown, especially from the best developers.
If afterwards you still feel the same, then fine, cancel your order. :)

About the Troll -systema.
Everyone who\'s a jack4ss here; that means spamming, bashing a specific console all the time ( doesn\'t have to be ps2 to achieve troll-pic ). Annoys moderators or admins too much, doesn\'t obey their orders... and so on.
And don\'t fear. If you somehow turn to be annoying you will be warned first. :)

Well, thanx for the insult, buddy. I\'m a regular at MSXbox and I\'m also a regular at these forums. You\'re to blame for your disappointment. You are too stupid to realize that games 7 months from launch aren\'t going to be anywhere near complete. All of the games at GameStock were 50% or less complete. Hell, Project Gotham was put together in 4 weeks! Most people in here like you were expecting CG quality graphics even though the games are incomplete and the dev-kits were incomplete. I know you have to be smarter than you seem, because anyone with clear thinking faculties knows that games shown seven months prior to a system\'s release isn\'t going to reflect the power of a system. I don\'t care how easy a system is supposed to be to program for.
What pisses me off are the guys that compare 4 week old Gotham code to 3 year old GT3: A-Spec code. Now, I believe Xbox will be a great system, but a developer just can\'t cut and paste code and expect everything to be magically upgraded. The fact of the matter is that 4 week old code held it\'s own against GT3: A-Spec. Imagine what the game will look like when it\'s actually FINISHED!!! You can\'t compare 10% of a game on 50% of hardware to a 90% game on 100% hardware. That\'s unfair and unrealistic.
Leatherface, you have to understand that GameStock was not intended to be a graphical Xbox showcase, but rather it was intended to show that Microsoft did indeed have first party titles in development for the Xbox, and we got to see what they were. Now tell me, what other company will be launching with more first party titles than Microsoft? That\'s what the show was attempting to show you. Every intellecutally honest person knows that the Xbox will be 3 times more powerful than PS2, so there was no need for MS to try and prove that. You are acting like this is how the games will look at launch. If it were August or September, yeah, I would be worried too. But, dammit, it\'s March! E3 hasn\'t even come yet, nor has the GDC or TGS. Stop jumping to conclusions before you see the whole picture. People like you are hard to understand because you bash Microsoft for not living up to your unreasonably high expectations. I guess Microsoft could have put together a few high-end Toy Story-like, non-playable demos of how Xbox games WILL LOOK LIKE ON FINISHED HARDWARE, but then you would complain that "Xbox is screwed because the games weren\'t playable!" Some people just can\'t be pleased. If you act this way toward Xbox, no console is good enough for you. Just quit gaming.

First of all, let me make my point clear, I was not insulting your intelligence with the term "intellectually honest", however you just insulted yourself by not knowing what it means. :D To be intellectually honest means that you have to look at something without bias and stand on neutral ground...kind of like me. I love my PS2, but the notion that a system three times more powerul than PS2 coming out TWO YEARS after the PS2 hardware was complete, doesn\'t surprise me. I\'m willing to give the Xbox (not X-baux...is that supposed to be funny?) a chance. Some weird logic in your head seems to be preventing you from realizing that a newer system will obviously be more powerful than an older system. I\'m willing to accept that. Now if I were going around saying, "Xbox will be BETTER than the PS2", you would have good reason to be perturbed. You may use "BETTER" and "MORE POWERFUL" interchangably, but I don\'t. Better != more powerful by anyone\'s means. I won\'t comment on whether or not Xbox will be "better" than the PS2, but I think I\'m not stretching the facts when I say that it will be 3 times more powerful than the PS2. That\'s not stretching the imagination, that\'s realistic for hardware that is released two years after the previous one.
Why don\'t you believe that Xbox isn\'t 3 times more powerful than the PS2? Are you judging by half-baked software and tech demos thrown together in one month? Are you judging demos on under-powered dev-kits? If you are, I\'m asking you to reevaluate things a little. Is that really fair? Is comparing half-baked software to complete software fair by your standards? If it is, then that tells alot about you. An intellectually honest person would realize it and reserve their judgement until the software is more complete or when it is on fair ground. E3 will be fair ground to make comparisons because new Xbox and new PS2 games will be on display and Xbox fans can\'t say, "well, the games aren\'t anywhere near complete!" Then we can say, "then why did MS show it at E3?" Wait until E3. That sound fair enough to you?

Yes. And I stand by that claim. If all Microsoft wanted to do was show pretty pictures then they would have made all of the games pre-rendered and unplayable. GameStock is an event where Microsoft shows off that it can deliver content and what this content will be. E3 will be the Xbox tour de force because Xbox software will be running on 100%(meaning finished) Xbox hardware. Please, do yourself a favor and wait until E3. GameStock was a success since we know MS will be launching more first party titles than anyone else.

I compared Gotham to GT3 a-spec,and all i can say is,what is the point in showing a 4 week old code?
People are going to insult it,so dont get your self worried about it,i am sure that in a years time it will look alot better,and i will say that it looks better if it does.

To answer your question Ethugg, I did not have a change of heart based only on graphics. The games shown, nearly a third of the supposed 30 or so at launch, looked like the gameplay would be lacking or else something I wouldn\'t like. I saw nothing that looked innovative really, even the mighty Halo looked like Tribes with better graphics. I was pushed away more by this lack of innovation than the graphics. I have to admit I was initially attracted to the XBOX because of Nvidia\'s rep. I think they make the best cards in the business. But the way the games looked were very PC looking, making XBOX look more and more like the stripped PC people have been accusing it of being all along. PS2 is very solid right now. In my mind XBOX will have to prove that it can compete. I\'ll give it a year before I buy it because MS is unproven in this arena. Many people percieve MS as uncool at least and evil at the most. We\'ll see...

Ok Ok I have to step in here....What the hell do people mean when they say \'PC LOOKING\'?? Graphics are graphics! The only thing I see different are \'
THEMES\'....you know mario, crash bandicoot, and sonic to name a few but I would never classify ANY of the next generation systems as \'PC LOOKING\' reguardless of what kind of game it is.
Is that an official term that I don\'t know about or just something someone threw around that caught on as an excuse to look down upon?? Please stop that BS anyone worth their weight in this forum that deals with graphics knows damn well there is no such thing as \'PC LOOKING\' graphics!
Just come right out and say you don\'t like the damn graphics rather than say \'PC LOOKING\' because I know damn well in the later part of a console\'s life span that \'PC LOOKING\' comment would be a compliment!

Well said leather, but i think you should go with your gut instinct on this one.
Like what i did, i chose to go with the PS2 , not for the Graphics or Backward compatability, but for the simple fact this i actually got a chance to play it early on and was impressed with the gameplay, even in the launch titles.
After all is said and done it\'s the gameplay that makes you comeback for more even years after the original release. Why just look at the reason why people still play DOOM for example.
The PS2 has inovation in bucket loads ,and it still hangs on to the gameplay elements of the poriginal PSX to Boot.
if You want a Xbox then so be it, but that still dose not stop you from either buying or liking the Nintendo game cube or Playstation 2.
All three systems have great games for example
PS2
MGS2
ZOE
GT3
Getaway
XBox
Halo
Malice
(sorry don\'t know much about this one).
Gamecube
Zelda
Perfect Dark 2
Anyway enough of the consoles, WELCOME to the Forum LeatherHead.
Listen to the Wise members Like Samwise etc.
And ignore the total Gimps Like Jaggies who like to count Jaggie count rather than play a bloody game.

XB is following nothing, its not out yet... and 3D0 failed more due to cost than games...
And leather: like what you want, I personally get every system, and enjoy everyone. But by your own admission, youve seen only 1/3 of the launch line up. I must say, unless you 1-cant afford it, or 2-(like me) will definitly buy it, you should wait til E3 to make calls on the system...

What a weak argument. Everyone here knows 989 isn\'t worth of mentioning. Try using Madden 2001 for your example next time. A PS2 launch game which looks better than a Xbox game(and it runs on an imcomplete dev kit also). I thought Xbox was supposed to be 3 times more powerful? Meh.
