That X-box can\'t do what it\'s told it can do or are they just LATE on the goods and the X-box will be able to do it eventually?

Game companies touch up screenshots all the time but this sucks. I guess this sucks because they are so noticeable.

BTW, you can\'t blame anyone but Microsoft. How dumb are they to use the standard Photoshop lens flare?

HERE (http://www.mikekraus.de/lol.jpg) is a link to the picture in question

That just angers me. There probably is a character model behind that fake shot. It is positioned perfectly to be covering something else up. I wonder how Microsoft\'s spin doctors are going to handle this.

ha ha. This is pretty sad if you think about it. I am a photoshop freak myself, and at least they could have changed the lens flare, make it darker, lghter, or of a different lens size.

I guess we will have to see what comes of this, though.

And once again NPLAYER is right:D

I can\'t wait for the people who bashed The Getaway to come in here:D

This means anything microsoft says CANNOT be trusted..only reliable gaming sites can...everything they say from now on i will treat like BS...

you know what would be even more funny?...if they did this on a MAC:D

I have read the whole post at the ign forum, and this is the worst thing in gaming that I have ever read.
I will NEVER trust ANY pictures from MS!!!!
I have no words for this, how can MS do this and put it up on x-box official site?

Just look at this link
http://members.chello.nl/~r.schennink/fakestuff.jpg

I quote from the forum:
"I noticed one funny little detail about Project Gotham. Take a look at the following picture: http://www.dailyradar.com/screens/game_preview_all_screen_9925.html

Notice how the sky is quite dark and green. Then look at the reflection of the car windshield - it\'s quite bright and blue. Why?

I came up two reasons for this. Either project Gotham uses fake reflections, that\'s why they look so good. Or the actual picture is fake. Now what Gotham and Amped have in common? Both come from MS.

So what do you think?"

M$ : What\'s this? This what you call a trigger eh?

*blam*

M$ : OWWWW! MY FREAKIN\' FOOT!

Really, I\'m quite amazed by all this. All these little details show that something\'s not quite right. There are going to be good things coming out of that stupid-looking VCR-thingamajik, but this still lowers my respect towards M$ (which dropped down to minus 23578623 something as I type)... I wonder how well time heals gunshot wounds. Cheers to M$.

my god, you right about that project goham screen shot!

i cant believe that micro soft has to go this low just to impress us, well it didnt work.. i feel bad for MS, this iwll make them loss a majority of buyers, exept the ones that dont bother looking into thier investment online that is

M$ just added a disclaimer...this is some unbelievably funny stuff.

http://www.xbox.com/games/amped/

It says:       Note: Some images enhanced to reflect end product.

Guess we will have to wait and see if they actually end up looking that good.

Oh, I wonder how the skier in the picture that appears to be standing still is going 51 mph as is indicated. :)

that pisses me off, now they put it huh, but the thing is.. would they have put it if we didnt figure it out.. NO they wouldn\'t have cause they think were dumb enough to belive what ever they put. thats just wrong. i have lost my respect for MS or what i had for them before

I agree Unknown.  But really, this is just so typical of M$.  They play dirty, outrightly lie and try to deceive people.  It is just unfortunate that 99% of the gamers out there will never realize this.  Truly pathetic effort on their part.

Ms is in a new world they just do not understand....we are GAMERS..not old farts on CNN who are afraid to look bias....when NEXT-GEN writes about this i hope they slam xbox as hard as they can because well...they can..

Another question has to be asked...why do they need to do this?..are they really this FAR behind?...for a console 3x more powerfull than PS2 and 10x more powerfull than GCN(according to their spec sheet)...it uses DX why do they need to do this?....the answer is that...xbox is a POS.....nuff said.

after this i expect xbox to launch in 2002...

oh and someone at IGN posted this:

Just tried this on Photoshop.

1. Load the original image in Photoshop

2. Select Filter->Render->Lens Flare

3. Use def. options (100% brighness & 50-300mm Zoom).

4. Select the exact point of origin as in the image.

5. Voila, the lens flare matches the image EXACTLY.

LOL !!!!!!

MS 1 party developers better than sony eh?...ROTFLMAO!!!:D

I don\'t really know what to make of all this "fake shot" bs that\'s been going around the net. I guess my respect for MS would be lost if I had any to begin with. But I do think some of you guys are comming down a little hard on MS. Some of those discrepencies people are trying to blow out of preportion very well might just be placeholders. I remember hearing that Amped was put together in just two weeks or so.. well that\'s not enough time. Despite what Nintnedo says, the Factor5 starwars demo took 5 months to put together. You just can\'t make a great looking demo overnight these days. There\'s just too much work involved, regardless of how easy a console is to develop for. Period.

Microsoft probably wanted all the games running on finished dev kits.. so they put off making the demos until the last minuite, figured out that they couldn\'t pull it off and the demos looked like ****, and then just slapped some placeholders in to cover up the ugly spots and represent what they didn\'t the have time or resources to program in. Sony, Nintnedo, and to a lesser digree even Sega are all guilty of doing this from time to time.

Sonyfan...

explain the pic of a guy going 51mph....while standing still...that right there just insults our intelligence and shows just how much crap xbox and it\'s developers are...

Why the hell should we take it easy on microsoft?...do they deserve it this treatment? yes...should we back down?..HELL NO.

These guys are what Factor5 are to nintendo...yet they are FAR FAR behind....

unknown is right...MS just blew off one of it\'s legs.

The persecution of one who is only following in the same footsteps as everybody else is called a double standard. Worse, it\'s also called Hipocracy. Am I happy that MS put up a bunch of doctored and misleading pics? No, but I can\'t honestly condem them when I\'ve seen everybody else in the industry do it.

Oh jesus, I can\'t believe you guys have made such a big deal over this Amped thing... and you\'ve all certainly done a great job patting yourselves on the backs.  There are things more interesting than a bunch of doctored pics that we all knew were doctored to some extent anyway.  That\'s the very reason nobody takes any real stock in screens of new games that haven\'t come out yet.

OMG can n-player be anymore bias? Companies do this all the time and it is not like xbox won\'t achieve excellent graphic in the end. Ppl are taking this way too far. It is only a gaming machine. I am getting so sick and tired of this kindergarden b.s. I like sony more so I bash this, I like ms more so I hate sony. I think those type of fans don\'t even diserve the right to pick up a game controller. When it all boils down. Competition only makes for a excellent gaming experience.  With only three gaming machines going to be out there it is pretty stupid of ppl to start bashing, because with only 2 or even 1 we would all just end up missing out on experiencing some of the best gaming we could ever have.

All I know, is this topic is the perfect one for fanboy spotting! ohh, ohh, theres one, theres one, theres one, etc, etc, etc, et all.

You guys know that everyone does this. I dont know who did the Getaway links, one with the ultra clear SDK renders, and one with the ****e you will see on your screen, ( I think it was Dr Yassam), yet N-player dismissed it because he was too caught up on his witch hunting routine.

You guys know my old signature about double standards, well, it\'s baaa-aack!

Those guys from Microsoft make me puke (just like Bill Gates did on X-BOX, that`s what the yellowish sphere is !!!), this is one bad example what big budget companies shouldn`t do !!!
