Title: how long before the price drops?

In many major stores in the Uk they are sticking to rougly the same price as when the machine was released.  The cheapest i have found was £275, but that was solely a PSX2, without joystick, games, memory card etc.  Does anyone expect the price to drop soon or do you think they will leave it until a rival machine is release? the reason i ask this is because i am unsure whether it is worth waiting for a drop in price or just buy one now.  thanks in advance for any help.  

Also where would you guys recommend buying from in the Uk?

The Playstation 2 should be droping there prices soon.  Xbox and Game cube are soon coming out.  But the Playstation 2 is in so high in demand that i think the prices will be the same yet.

yea my guess is it will drop sometime around this fall - maybe november - thats when mommies and daddies start their christmas shopping

but don\'t expect it to happen over the summer or anything like that - as for what the price will be - my guess is it will drop from  300 bucks to 200 or maybe just maybe 150 - to me 150 is doubtful though

the price drop would most likely happen during X-Mas that is if SONY starts using the newer chipset..and start gaining some profit..XBOX hasnt set a solid release date but as of now its Fall 2001..but its not solid because Microsoft will has to settle the lawsuit about the copyright to the name for XBOX [Microsoft\'s XBOX vs. XBOX Technologies]

so the best time for a price drop is XMas..and dont forget if the XBOX is going to retail for more then $300..SONY has no reason to drop the price if the XBOX is over $300

I\'m new to the console gaming thing, and I was wondering do all consoles drop in price so soon after a release? Seems as though everybody on this board is in agreement that this will happen sometime this year.

I would think that Sony would keep the price the same since they haven\'t had problems with people shelling out the dough for the console.

Dont see any prices dropping in the forseeable future the system is still too popular.
