i can\'t wait to go online with the PS2. most of us at Team Falcon are going to get the HDD/BB adapter when it comes out.
-
Not without a compelling reason, ie: They use it better than XB uses its built in HDD, or it extremely enchances a game I really like....
Why\'s everyone talking about the modem? I thought this was about the HDD? Well, it\'s the same deal with me for the modem too. I bought Sega add-ons that had games, ie:Sega CD, 32X. Unless they offer games, exclusively requiring the HDD/Modem, chances are I wont get em... Sony should have planned ahead... DC had the modem OOB and XB will have the HDD and maybe the modem OOB. Peripherals fail, even when they give em out. Look at the N64\'s RAM cart... no support in Conker despite choppy animation because the addon didnt sell. And it was cheap to boot. A HDD and BBA won\'t be so cheap...
-
Well, I\'ll buy one. And I am going to sit it right next to my Genesis/32X/Sega CD. See\'ing as I have as much faith in Sony succesfully selling the HDD as Sega\'s attempt with the 32X.
Lets see......
Jaguar Cd (Failed...sorta)
32X (failed)
Sega CD (failed)
64DD (HUGE failure)
Did Sony not take note on any of this? Apparently not.
Still, I\'ll buy it because I simply must have everything.
-
You better believe I\'m getting it!
Since the topic of 2D fighters is really the only one I talk about, this might be a great way to do it.
Once the HDD comes out, everyone who says that it is impossible to do 2D fighters on PS2 might see the light of day! :D
-
The HDD will cause a split among PSX2 owners: Those who habve it, and those who don\'t. Who will developers want to appeal to? Both ideally but who wants a game they acnt get most out of because they dont have a HDD?
A modem will cause even more, smaller divisions.
-
Hard drive my ass. Give me some more games. I already gave Sony $300 and I can count all the PS2 games available on my 2 hands (that\'s 11 right?)
HD is going to run us at least $100. Sorry but no thanks. Maybe a year or 2 down the road, but sure as hell not now.
-
Whew, I\'m glad some more \'no\' ppl posted. I thought I was alone, and was in for some flamin! :D
-
I don\'t know, the thing will cost some money. And currently I don\'t see any advantige in having the thing. If Sony has something up it\'s sleeve with the hdd, something that will improve the games than ofcourse I\'ll buy it.
-
If I can\'t get broadband I see no reason to waste the cash, If I can get broadband then I will
right now I\'m SOL
-
HOLY CRAP HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
it\'s a given for me,no question i\'ll get it..but how soon i get it is the real question (as for the broadband adapter,i\'m imagining a game like Twisted Metal would be a perfect fit for me online, chaos on wheels against everyone :D )
-
Well...um...YES...:D
-
Yes depending on a handful of factors:
a) Broadband availability in my area and if its supported by Sonys network.
b) Service provided by Sonys network - what will be on it? I can already get quality multiplayer games on the PC, so hopefully it will have something else to offer.
c) Subscription charges - how much it will actually cost for Sonys services, the costs for broadband in itself may well be enough.
d) Software support - If the games arent there, why bother?
e) Cost of pheriphal - Im not going to go out and buy it unless its reasonably priced, great service or not.

Well...it depends on the games supporting it and the price. But is allows for really cool new features such as thsi one!
The xbox game Amped will allow you to save yer own music onto the hdd and then play it in the game...sounds kewl right??! :)
and offcourse it will be a REALLY big memory card! ;)
