Guess what?!? The GBA came out today. Does anyone plan on importin\' one?
As always, Ebay is flooded with them, which is where I plan on pickin\' mine up along with F-zero, Mario, CastleVania.....

yes, the long awaited system is here, although ill wait and try it out before i think about buying it..
i just saw a tony hawk preview for gameboy advance, and that looked great. this stuff looked really good for a handheld, i dont travel much thats why ill wait before picking it up.. but so far it looks great, really smooth, and its puny i heard!!

Yeah I was really excited about this until I heard the screen is terrible. It turns out the colors are even more washed out than on the GBC.
I was expecting alot better, Obviously the graphics are better but what diffrence does it make if the screen is crap. Then again the batteries do last alot so thats probably the tradeoff, sound ain\'t too good either supposedly.
I\'ll probably get one anyway, I love novelty items :D
Not to mention four player gaming with a hub and one copy of the game is absolutely THE best idea in videogaming since the head shot was invented!

****ty screen=no fun. I have a GBC collecting dust for that reason, and I\'m not wasting money on another one til they learn how to backlight the ****ing screen...

Backlighting the screen is a ***** on the battery. You would have to switch batteries every week if you wanted that.
BTW, Calm Down. Its not going to hurt you.

I\'m glad it doesn\'t have a backlight. It would probably last two hours at most. It\'s bad enough my Game Boy Pocket lasts a lousy 4-5 hours before I have to replace the batteries.

That\'s not what I heard. I heard the screen was surprisingly good. It could desplay SNES graphics and actually look good. And the fact that the screen is bigger is another plus. I also heard the backlit screen was easier to see under dimmer lights than the GBC\'s was.

There have been people saying both things about the screen. But the most I\'ve heard, is that its a lot better than the GBC\'s (larger, more colorful, etc).
Me? I\'ve already imported/pre-ordered one and am waiting for mine to come in the mail (anyday now) along with F-Zero (Mario Kart Advance later. Y\'know, stuff that isn\'t very Jap-text heavy. I do know a lot of Japanese, though)

So? You guys cant afford some rechargable batteries? I was going to import it until I found out the screen will be as ****ty as GBC\'s... Even if they don\'t make it backlit, theres no reason to make the plastic screen cover so damn reflective. Hurray! I can see my reflection! :(
BTW, I fear no handheld... although a few years back I did get my ass kicked by a Sega CD who was pretty pissed at me... :D

I have not seen it, but are you sure they have a reflective plastic thing over the screen? If it\'s anything like the the Neo Geo Pocket\'s screen, it\'s going to be great.

Guys... geeze--Don\'t get so worked up about it it freakin\' gets here. Yeah, there have been some sites bashing the screen *coughcough* *cough whyaminotsurprisedcough* but many others really like it. Its like the GBC and NGPC, I\'m pretty sure. Backlighting it... would just really wear on the batteries, and battery life is really important.
Sheesh! Some places have been complaining about the light and stuff... Well thats what you get a Nyko Wormlight for... duh!

Seriously though, who hasn\'t? Sega CD was a mean MoFo. :D

Still not considering buying/importing/pre-ordering one? Well, check out the news on THPS 2! It had one fully playable level and was compared to the DC version (gfx wise). Also, the GBA will get an all new Metroid.
First Rayman, then THPS 2, then... what? Something that will blow those out of the water, too? (what has rare got cooking??)

Me too. I was going to import one and then I thought, "What\'s the point?". I never had a GBC and when I played it I didn\'t enjoy it much. Plus it would only get played when I\'m at home and that is valuable DC/PS2 gaming.

Yeah... Importing isn\'t practical for everyone. I would normally not import it, but...:
1) I couldn\'t wait, I\'m impatient
2) I can read, write, and talk Japanese so langauge wouldn\'t be problem; in fact, it\'d be fun
3) [unofficial] [unlicensed] [basement] GBA DEV.
4) never imported something before.
