Title: Hmm, read this(PS2 related)
Post by: Solid Snake 88 on March 22, 2001, 04:27:20 PM
For the most part my PS2 is in perfect condition, and it plays all games/DVDs fine, except for one game:  TimeSplitters.

When I play TS it makes this loud thumping sound and it takes awhile to load. It doesn\'t always do it, only after playing for a half an hour of so. Any ideas?

did you check out the cd bottom? scratches?
is there a sticker on the top of the game that throws the cd off when it twirls at 4x dvd?
thumping though,hmm.. man im stumped on what would cause that thumping prob of yours, what on the ps2 is big enough to make a thump sound?
i think its the cd, if its the only one doing this..
if you have the gamedoctor, use it.
well that\'s what i think may be the prob, Gl man!

The \'Thumping\' sound is normally made by the laser \'dropping out\' for a simple demo if you have a ps1
Try opening the lid then push your finger onto the button in the top right corner of the lid, making sure
that there is no CD in. you will notice the laser moves up and down. This happens so it can search
for a CD. what normally occurs is that the laser \'dropps off\' if it can\'t read the CD. this can be followed by the
slowing down of the disk then it spinning back up just to start again.

This is a common problem that can only be rectified by changing the game cd for another copy.

Ya thats pretty much what I thought anyway. Too bad I\'ve had the game for a month or so and I can\'t return it anymore. DOH!

Thanks anyway. :)
