Title: 35mm Cameras --- Recommendations..

Doods...  I have been looking to pick up a camera for a little while now.  I have been torn between a digital camera and a good 35mm.   And for now I have decided to pick up a good 35mm camera.

But there are so many I can\'t decide what is good, and stuff like that.  

I am getting an SLR...  not a point-and-shoot..  

I have been looking at Nikon, Cannon, Minolta..  But I was wondering if anyone out there has and exp. with 35mm cameras, any web resource, pointers, etc, etc.

I would appreciate your help..  :D

I have a Minolta 400SI. I love it!!

I only have experience with Minolta, but I have found it to be a great camera, with plenty of features, and easy to use.

I also have:

28-35mm lens(Minolta)
100-300mm lens with Macro @ 300mm(Sigma)
170-500mm lens(Sigma)

SLR cameras are excellent for those who want more freedom. Digitals are good, if you want to edit your photos on your computer, but to take a picture "as-is" definitely go with SLR.

If I had to do over again, I would get what they call "Medium Format". Those are the camera\'s that the proffesionals use, you know the ones where they hold down the shutter button and it rifles off shot after shot without pausing.

The SLR can do multiple shots also, but no nearly as quick.

The 500mm lens I have is freaking AWESOME for wildlife. You can be 100yards away and take a photo like you were right next to em\'. Spendy though, my 500mm cost $600:eek:

.....great for "survelance" shots too:)

As far as research. Go get some photography mag\'s they\'re always running comparison articles.

My old man is a professonal photographer,he knows about these things.Unfortunetly he\'s out of town.

It really depends on how much you want to spend.  I have both and I use my digital all the time.  My main 35mm camera is a nikon F100 which is a kick butt camera.  The difference between a real SLR camera and a little point and shoot jober is amazing.  You can spend a ton of money though real quick, but I would definitely suggest making sure you have a real nice lens.  

THere are tons of photo websites out there that I would highly recommend geared directly with cameras. That\'s where you really need to ask....
