Title: The DEFINITIVE Xbox Interview- New As Of April 3!!!
Post by: Kituka on April 03, 2001, 08:59:19 AM
My favorite part:

CVG: Do you read a lot of these online sites daily, check out online forums and the like?

KEVIN: Sure.

SEAMUS: Absolutely.

CVG: Can you name some?

KEVIN: Like all of them. CVG Online, Daily Radar, IGN, Gamespot, Core Magazine, Gaming-Age, GIA. Why? Because these are our customers. This is what gamers read and we are gamers.

Smile, guys!! The head honchos are looking at us!!!

I really never played MGS because it\'s not my kind of game but I understand that it sells systems and helps the life of a console.  This is my favorite part of the interview!

Quote
KEVIN: Yes they are. Let me take this opportunity to correct one thing. You guys seemed confused about what Metal Gear Solid X is.

CVG: When I talked to KCEJ a month backā€¦

KEVIN: What did Kojima tell you?

CVG: He told me not to believe what Konami UK or USA had said, and that no announcement had been made by him even so the rest was speculation on their part.

KEVIN: Well we\'ve got permission from Konami to answer this for you. And let me say that Metal Gear Solid X will be beyond MGS2. We\'ll leave it at that. But we asked Konami to clear up that confusion, and they were like "why would anything think we were doing a port of a five year old game?"

I don\'t know about you but I think were looking at MGS 3 for Xbox!

But talks that MGS2 might be the last in the series have been around since after talks about MGSX.

It was also said long before after the older games, before the PSX MGS, and that came out, didn\'t it?

as far as I understood Kojima wants to do something different.

You have to believe Kojima has a whole new game swirling around in his head and doesn\'t want to be handcuffed to the MGS world right after MGS2 is completed.

We\'ll see, I wouldn\'t expect any firm comments regarding MGS on Xbox till after the PS2 version is out.

it seems that MGSX is not made by kojima, he said that he would quit the metal gear solid games after MGS2 and let a different MORE YOUNG...and MORE FRESH producer create the otehr games.

And we all know what happened to snake\'s revenge.....

Who says Kojima has to do the game? It could be:
1-An enhanced version of MGS2, thus Kojima still being involved...
2-A new side story, w/o Kojima
3-A true sequel, but still w/o Kojima
4-MGS 1.5 (although this goes against the spirit of the above interviews statements.)

Kojima isn\'t  Suzuki or Miyamoto. I think they could continue a spy-thriller-action game w/o him.

Don\'t be rediculous, Kojima is the mastermind behind MGS world. MGS is not your typical spy-thriller-action game as you labeled it. The game is on its own level, a level created by Kojima, and unmatched. From what I\'ve played on the MGS2 demo I deem the game pure genius.

Sure MGS franchise coulds live on without Kojima, but the ambition and the creative genius Kojima brings will be missing.

what planet do you reside on Ethugg...oh man,i\'m losing any respect from you with that remark...i thought you were a little off basis in previous threads though i respected your opinion, but your a complete whacko if you believe this (hurry jump into a tub of hot boiling water and then cover yourself with ashes while asking gaming gods for forgiveness until your skin peels off :) )

Why? It\'s not the best fiction written around a spy/military theme... it\'s ok, but the interactivity and graphics are why MGS2 is hot, not because of the story. We\'ll see won\'t we....

Its not all about the storyline, which I disagree. The best probably not but a damn good storyline none the less. Actually really good

Its the extremly innovative gameplay elements and scenario\'s that all pretty much come out of Kojima\'s head.

maybe there will be a MGS3 without Kojima, but thats like seeing a classic rock band with one original member left

Well, we\'ll see, but I\'m looking foward to Crash 4 w/o Naughty Dog. Blood Omen 2 w/o Silicon Knights, etc. This is no different to me....

To me its blasphamy. I wouldn\'t look forward to a FF without Square, and Gran Turismo without Polyphony

Twisted Metal 3 and 4 suffered from this fate as a few other franchises

I\'d be 1000X\'s more interested in Kojima\'s next game over a MGS3 withut Kojima. Like I said you know he has some ideas swirling around in his head outside the MGS world

I look foward to his next game, but how do you know the next guy on MGS won\'t be great, and carry on the series\' respectfully?

maybe i do,but what if i said you like Suzuki or Miyamoto\'s games too much, what is your point with this then? it is just your opinion that Kojima\'s MGS games doesn\'t live up to those other developer\'s games, you are starting to sound stupid now...my opinion of course

The people I\'ve named have made many classics. Kojima hasn\'t. He\'s know for MGS. That\'s it.

Which is why I believe he will leave MGS after MGS2 and work on his next game. Which I will anticipate with High expectation.

He may come back to MGS later on but it obvious, and he has stated he wants to work on another project after MGS2.

and although carrying on MGS respectfully without Kojima it is not the same as carrying on with him.

EThugg... You\'re disappointing me. You might not care but you do (disappoint me that is). The Metal Gear Solid is the best game I\'ve ever played and I have no reason to believe MGS2 will be any different - in fact it looks to be 10x better. I just love it. But I agree it wouldn\'t be the same without Kojiima, who IMO, is a pure genius. MGS3 without him might be an OK game, but I wouldn\'t be as excited as with him making it. What about Shenmue without Suzuki? ::shrugs::

Whoa, MGSX is going to be above and beyond MGS2?!?!?! I gotta get it!!

pfff, the game still interests me in the least. whoopdeefrickindoo. Kojima really isn\'t that great. He isn\'t a gaming gd like people put him up to be. What has he made? Snatcher? great game. Policenauts? good game. MG series. (depends, I liked the first NES one, past they they suck IMO). what else has he done?

Just get the guy who did Z.O.E (Kojima just put his name on it, the director was another guy), I am sure he could do the game just fine.

Yeah, because ZOE and MGS are so much alike.

I guess Suzuki wasn\'t a genius when he hadn\'t made a trillion games? BTW, he ain\'t all that.

Kojima rules on the other hand. ;)

New adventures of Snake jr?

Nope i am going to spoil the ending of MGS2, they are going to do a Dallis plot line , Snake get\'s killed off in a shower and thats it.

MGSx or MGS3 starts with MGS2 being a bad dream and it never realy happened ;).

Ah what the hell.

DDaryl is right we can\'t even read too much into this ,not Untill Koniam or Mr Hideo shows us a Full Demo of Snake on the X box.

please leave this kind of thing with what could happen to the NEXT MGS game.

Opinions, opinions. Learn to live with them. I don\'t believe Miyamoto to be the \'god\' that some people believe in. Hell I prefer Naka, though every designer/programmer/producer have their faults. I had more fun with MGS than all of Suzuki\'s and Miyamoto\'s games put together. People just assume that if a certain game is made by Designer X it\'s going to be good. I prefer Majora\'s Mask over Ocarina of Time, and Majora\'s Mask wasn\'t even done by Miyamoto. Go figure. For the record, no game creator is god. Hate to disappoint you folks.

Yeah opinions

But like I said Kojima will more than likely work on a new title outside the MGS universe after MGS2. He doesn\'t seem like the kinda guy that wants to work on only MGS games for the next 5 years, and he\'s  made mention of wanting to do something else

Just like Myamoto or Suzuki fans I will look forward to Kojima\'s next game with great anticipation. Unlike Altered Beast MGS and MGS2 demo are masterpieces, If the MGS2 demo is the sample of MGS2 then it is the next gen game that most next gen games won\'t be able to live up to.

and, If I do purchase an Xbox which I\'m 70% sure I will then whatever MG titles shows up for Xbox will most definetly peek my interest regardless of Kojima or not. but I\'ll hold judgement on it for that time.

Despite my higher regard for Suzuki, I\'m sure there\'s someone who could take over writing the series...

Why do I disappoint you? I love MGS and Snatcher. I didn\'t say Kojima wasn\'t good. I said he wasn\'t the best. And that\'s my opinion.
