Title: Is ps2 supposed to be this loud?

It does not shake but it makes a loud whirring noise whenever I play Time Splitters, ASB 2002, and Nhl 2001.
Is this normal. How about you guys is your ps2 super silent. Once again, the noise is loud but fortunately it is drowned out while I am playing.

Yeah, it\'s loud. Depends on how fast it\'s reading the disc I believe.

it sounds loud . SOme games are louder than others as well.

but mines not loud to the point of bother except with SSX

mine pretty loud, but it depends on what game, the newer game are more quiet than the older ones, for instance i played the bouncer and i didnt even hear my ps2 when it was loading, but on ssx and timesplitters it was pretty loud, but the music does drown out the sound, and when im into a game i cant even hear it :)

Yes, my PS2 sounds loud too.  But not all the games, like when you play PSone game or the PS2 EA Madden 2001. It\'s loud on my R5 PS2 game.

Thanks guys, I am relieved to know that I am not the only obe with a slightly loud ps2. Hey pstwo is Ridge Racer any good, I am thinking of picking it up since April blows for ps2 releases.

My PS2 humms nice & quietly. Except when I watch the demo; then it goes wild, it really makes a terrible noise, then it freezes occasionally. But when I play the noise is not a problem, you get used to it quickly.

Yes,  It\'s very good. But there is not much cars to select. You upgrade the cars looks (body kit,motor) by passing a full race.  But i just open the PAC MAN cars! You need to race 1500 miles to get it. There cool!!:D  The back grounds look real nice, trees, buliding etc. and plays solid too.  Get this game! :D
