Title: PS2 Goes Online TODAY
Post by: kirath on April 13, 2001, 04:18:47 AM
... but only in Japan. Planetweb and Ergosoft Corp today shipped an Internet solution for PlayStation2 into Japan stores today.
Ergosoft is publishing the Japanese version of the Planetweb Web browser, known as the "EGBROWSER" in Japan.

Ergosoft will also license the TCP/IP network stack library and Internet browser library to game developers and other multimedia application software developers. The company has the exclusive sales and distribution right of Planetweb PlayStation2 Internet software and network middleware in Japan, and is the exclusive distributor for the Planetweb PlayStation2 browser products in the Japanese market.

Just wanted to share, the PS2 is now on-line..  I don\'t know what games are out in Japan that support it, but expect games to now being made to on-line gaming... WHoo hooo..

I seriously doubt I will have acces to DSL in the next couple of years. My local phone company actually got pissy with me on the phone when I asked when the hell they we\'re going toupgrade the lines or whatever to provide me with it.

I hope Sony supports Sattelite, cause I will probably have to go that route for Broadband.

I can get acces to adsl (512kbit-2mbit) but they just brought the price up from 25USD/month to 37USD

MAKES ME ANGRY!

Ill wait for broadband via electric-lines (10mbit) or REAL fiberoptic broadband. When ever that comes :(
(they say withing a few years, (1-2years))

This sucks very hard!!
Unless they bring the price down Ill prob. not get ADSL with lame 512kbit.

DSL is going to have a hard time expanding.  The major players involved are gone.  There were about 10 major companies involved in DSL

now there is only 3 left.  One is going to be delisted on the NASDAQ and the other one is scraping the bottom of the bowl...

So don\'t expect to see much expansion on DSL any time soon...

If ya live in NJ in good ol\' US of A, Comcast Cable will hook ya up for free, give ya the first 3 months at a 29.95USD rate and after that, its only 39.95 a month, including modem rental.  They had to put in a card, run new cable and everything, and the install was still totally free!

It should be available just about everywhere in NJ by now...
