THQ today announced that development on its highly anticipated action title, "Red Faction" for Playstation 2 has been completed. Red Faction is scheduled to release on May 22, 2001. Created by THQ subsidiary, volition Inc., "Red Faction" literally breaks though the established mold for first-person action games with its revolutionary Geo-Mod tecthnology. For the first time ever in the history of videogames, players will be able to alter, deform and outright destroy the game environment in real-time. Soon we will be able to get our hands on some powerful weapons!! By the way, I still didn\'t get that Demo! :D

It will not suck. Not at all. I\'ll probably change the button config to TimeSplitter\'s one cause that one is great. Its alot like a keyboard/mouse actually with the up/down/left sidestep/right sidestep movement on the left analog stick and the turn left/turn right/look up/look down movement on the right one.

I´m sorry but you have NOT played a PC FPS!
because if you had, you would not have wright what you just did.
The mouse and keybord is like....hm.....OVERKILL over the DS2. (IMO and about everyone except you)
-
Calm down boys...
IMO within half a year this isn´t an issue anymore !
The Software Companys just have to HEAR us !!!
Playing with the Pad will not suck !!! SS88 is right there, but I don´t understand, why they have left Mouse and Keyboard out ?!

Never played a PC FPS eh? Oh well then I guess Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Quake 1/2/3, Unreal Tournament, Doom 1/2/Ultimate aren\'t FPSs.
Please... Don\'t make foolish assumptions. I never said the game pad was better for FPSs, cause its not. All I said was that it won\'t suck.
-
I like the Timesplitter controls alot better than the Mouse/Keybord anyway, so I dont care. ITS GONNA RULE!!!!!!!
-
I\'m gonna wait for the PC version as well
FPS games on consoles suck ass, need da mouse/keyboard combo.
-
This game gets my vote.
i loved the controlles with timesplitters, best FPS control system on a console YET !
might buy it for my PC if i real feal like going online with it.
-
Whohooo! on my 25\'th B-day!
Your Friendly Neighborhood ScottyJ
-
yeah i like the pad as well
-
i still havent recieved my red faction demo yet either. it\'ll be gay if i get it after i buy the game.
-
Demo\'s will be received at the end of this month according to those on the official red faction BBS
Keyboard and mouse people, please stop that whine, I\'m so sick of people saying keyboard and mouse
How many people here actually want to play with a keyboard and mouse on your coffee table or the carpet
Red Factions control and game will be tuned for the DS and will be just fine.
-
any news on the framerate?

heheh.... after years of playing on a pc with mouse and keyboard, TimeSplitters and the DS2 gave me a headache!
i\'ll wait till i recieve the demo, if i don\'t like it, i\'ll wait for the demo of the PC version... i\'ll choose then.

-
i have a solution for the mouse / keyboard verse pad discussion...get both versions (for PS2 / PC) :D i admit it would be best if we had a choice but if you are a regular Playstation player, then you are very familar with the pad and it should no sweat

it wont suck just you will and anyways i like the control on timesplitters more than any mouse and keyboard
the control on timesplitters is much easier and ddaryl is right, but all you complain about it to much you dont see me saying i want my half life to have a ps2 control or it just sucks for comp
and what country is that may 22nd date for
-
Timesplitters sucks because you cannot jump
-
but if you could jump on timespitters it would become crap, sorry but i dont like jumping in fps, the reasons being, i think some developers use it for an excuse not make something new, instead of a puzzle or something you have to do a jump, every time the gaps getting bigger and harder and more anoyying, if i wanted to have to do that i would buy a platformer, its annoying people just jump around on games making it harder to aim on them or if you are jumping to hit them, the game should be about skill, killing baddies without them seeing you etc, not just like cause you are jumping around and your hard to hit

No mouse??
No keyboard??
Bye, bye RedFaction. :(

I think the DS works quite well with FPS\'s, better than I had expected. I got nothing to do here now that\'s school\'s out and all, so I went to check out any discount bins in the local game stores and picked up Medal of Honor (die you nazi pigs!), and the control system feels just dandy. It takes some getting used to after playing FPS\'s with a mouse-keyboard combo for 5 years.
Support for USB keyboards and mice would be really nice (whoa, that rhymes nicely) in PS2 FPS\'s though. If possible, I\'d of course take the mouse-kb combo over the pad anyday. But you can\'t have everything I guess...
Jumping in FPS\'s... it\'s kinda, silly, you could add pogosticks some some people\'s Quake/Half-Life/etc. models and there\'d be nothing weird about it. Anyone played the original Turok? I hated the game after the first jump-fall-tryagain-jump-fall-hatethegame part.
-
yeah ive played turok, it things like that annoy me, you cant look up the screen, you have to look at your feet, also the controls sucky sucky big time
-
TimeSplitters is a great control scheme, no doubt about it.
Killa: I already asked my wife for this baby on my 25th also---JUNE 1st!! YYYYEEEEEEEHHHHAAAAAWWWWW!!!
*Above whoop of joy was for the game, not my 25th birthday, which I am dreading with every fiber of my being. ONLY 5 MORE YEARS \'TILL 30!! AAAHHH!!*
-
TimeSplitters is not a jumping game... if there was jumping in it, it was suck ass... its just to fast... The control scheme is awesome and I\'ll use the same for Ref Faction... HOWEVER mouse and keyboard is much better (Counter Strike has an awesome controle scheme) I hope your rite Ddaryl about the demo

Well theres now another post talking about the framerate being locked at 30 fps which isn\'t bad. Equally I got the new PSW mag today and it has videos of Red Faction all of which ran with no slowdown, and im very picky so I would have noticed if there was any.
So things are looking good.
