Title: The Gamecube has already acheved a 1st
Post by: ooseven on April 18, 2001, 12:12:39 PM
Yeah thats right even though it\'s still to come out, this next Nintendo console has already made a very valueable first.

it will be the first Nintendo console to have cover disk support.

why do you ask why thats important, well i think that a cover disk or playable demo is very valueabe to get people intrested in the game.

the reason for this is that in the past nintendo carts used carts, hance no coverdisks on the frount of Nintendo mag\'s.

this lead to people not getting hooked on a game by just playing the demo.

remember if you play something for a short period of time you get an idea of whether or not you like it.

Now with Nintendo\'s decision to go with the Micro Disk, they have now got the opertunity to provide the gamers with demos of there games, and hence hook them on the games if they like the demo.

So well done Nintendo i say, just as long as they don\'t pass up this opertunity.

Still confused. How is this a first?  Aren\'t the PS2 Mags releasing PS2 demos?  It has allready been anounced that the officail Xbox mag will come with demos.

Sorry but i meant a first for Nintendo and not a worlds first.

you see that was the problem of having a conole with cart\'s

you cant get cover demos with mags.

and this will let them show people their games first hand.

Gotcha.  Now if only one of these companies would work out a way of delivering the mags w/o destroying such a large number of the disks. ;)

I know. My dumbass mailman even went so far as to fold my ODCM with my demo disk and break it. Is that not the stupidest thing ever? I think it will be fine as long as they aren\'t delivered by my stoopid mailman.

Yea that is interesting...  Whether they will go for it or not is highly debatable, though.

Assuming they do go for it, the problem is whether or not Nintendo can find a highly-read, Nintendo-based magazine with which to send the discs out...  Hmmmm... ;]

You always hear "Trojan Horse tactics" when talking about the Famicom, and more recently the Gameboy Advance, but wouldn\'t it be great to see Nintendo use Nintendo Power to spread discs like that?  Not only would the discs be a great source of advertising games, it would sell more GCs since N-fans would have software to play, and it would sell more Nintendo Power subscriptions, too.

If I were Nintendo I would send out the first GC demo disc with Nintendo Power... one month before the Gamecube is released.  Nothing to drive gamers mad like having playable software and no system to play it on.  For guys like me, that disc would be a shrine atop my tv, building my anticipation until the system came out...

Kind  of like how I recieved my PS2 software a couple days before I recieved my PS2 and almost went mad with anticipation.

Yea, no kidding.  I thought I remembered the software being released a little early.  It\'s kind of strange, but it works, eh?

That would be a great marketing tactic :)

I think gamers will get ( at last ) interested in Nintendo ( like they were interested about Snes ), and the GC, if it can provide us 3rd party games as well. I know Miyamoto has promised something revolutionary with the new Mario, and I\'m waiting forward to it, but somehow, the plumber doesn\'t kick me anymore. I\'m yet to see how excited I will be within the year ;)

I\'ll still go for the GBA first, and then see if have some money left...
