Yamauchi threatens to shelve GameCube launch
[04.18.01] ยป Nintendo CEO claims E3 2001 reception will decide console\'s fate.
Nintendo Co. Ltd\'s legendarily outspoken CEO is at it again. Hard as it may be to believe, Nintendo\'s CEO is really threatening to delay GameCube\'s release indefinitely unless it goes over well at E3 2001. At a Japanese press conference held on April 18th, Yamauchi commented that "if the GameCube is not received well at E3, our strategy will be compromised, and that will cause a serious blow to our plans. We may even have to consider pigeonholing the sale of GameCube."
Yamauchi\'s well-known distaste for complex next-generation consoles and desire to focus on software may have contributed to this decision. He also may have forgotten to take his medication this morning. It is unknown at this point if he will hold his breath until he turns blue.
well looking that the it seams like someone woke up on the wrong side of bed when be bumped it to a games writer.
this man has ALWASYS had his own views on games and consoles, the worrying thing is that he could be serious this time.
Hmmm i wonder what he would do if someone he knows walks upto him with a SONY or MICROSOFT X BOX t shirt on ?

What is wrong with this guy,if it doesnt go well at E3,then the only way to solve it is to get it out in to the public,so they can make there own minds up.

The News should read "Yamauchi has yet another panic attack".
Come on it must be fake, how can you delay a product because of the reacton of a small group of people.
He has to rememebr that if things go bad at E3 they can take the critisim and mend things for the launch of the Gamecube.

It\'s just a normal day for him. That guy is a bit nuts.
