Aiwa for Sony? Next thing you know Sega is going to develop for Nonindo.

I think it is great that the PS2 is getting Modems in the near future. However it was Sony\'s BroadBand dream that really interest me. Sony is letting the 3rd parties handle Dial up modems and doing the broadband themselves. So I want the broadband more then anything elts. As long as the Broadband is released with the First Online game I wont have to buy a modem.

aiwa = sony ;)
they are the same company
-
The products which are too bad for Sony go to Aiwa, a company of Sony ;)
-
I wondered when we would start to see the modems, doesnt look to bad at all.
-
Looks class for a modem. I like it how they have tried to make the thing match the PS2.
-
No dude , I think it looks stupid
Looks like two hairdryers in a 69 position. :D
Knotter8

Actually, It looks like a Turbo! :D
-
i looks cool to me - although i coud care less since all i want to do is get online
Aiwa = Sony and Aiwa\'s products are jus5t as good if not better IMO - they wouldn\'t be as big if there weren\'t quality behind them

well is awia = sony then thats ok then we know we\'ll be getting quality, but for a large proportion of th UK we cant get broadband at all becuase our wonderful TELCO BT is taking forever to upgrade exchanges and putting everything off all the time. So a modem would be much better for us poor peeps with just a normal line.
One thing i noticeed about that pic is that there are two jacks for phonelines, does this mean a) they are building in multilink support? or b) you can pass your phone thru it? im more inclined to belive its B but multilinking would be cool.
One last thing, the dreamcasts internet was charged at local rates which in the UK we have to pay for, is it likely that we can customize the dialup settings such as entering our account details that we use for our pc ??
-
Dunno. However being from the UK it would be really dumb of Sony not to give us 0800 access. As I know I would use the online option a hell of a lot less if I was charged per minute. :)
-
You are 100% right RichGUK,they need to make sure that it is 0800 number, because that was the one thing that stoped me from using my DC online alot more.
-
Also i heard that to play GT3 in the iLink mode you have to buy a hub,so i am not sure if that will work as hub as well as a modem, which would be really cool.
-
looks like a hockey puck with 2 triangles coming out from both sides :), since aiwa and sony are the ame company, it wold probably have been one of the first designes for the sony modem, decided to make a better one, and called it the aiwa modem, sounds resonable
i hope it looks *****in, hey honestly i wouldnt mind having the frst japanese one, you know the one that looked like a mini PS2, that one was cool
-
The modem looks good. I hope it will not be so expensive.

better still Rich, let us connect to our own ISP\'s of choice. I\'m on NTL and it\'s free all day. It would be
excelent if i could use my dialup to get online with PS2. If anybody had the american version of planetweb on the
Dreamcast then this software let you put in the dialup number, a login name and a password. I used to use
my NTL dialup number, login & password to get online,
alas it was free to connect also if you are on the NTL network
in the UK then i\'ll let you know, (because iv\'e tried it), is that you can have multiple connections. Yep you could use
your PS2 to browse the web an use the same dialup on your Pc at the same time, that bieng if you had 2 Phone lines.
-
Yeah that would be cool.
Im with BTInternet but it really has been poor recently. Its hard to get online and i\'ve been getting a lot of linedrops. I would consider changing to NTL if you didn\'t need to change your Telco which unfortunatly isn\'t my descision.
-
Yep, BTinternet has been hammered recently due to a lot of leaked logins & passwords on the net.
A lot of people are using these even on NTL lines. This is all down to the hackers using Sub7 to get the info and
posting this stuff on certain forums. Why bother? it\'s just bogging the networks down.
-
The trouble is BT has no compitition,if they did i bet the service would be a whole lot better,it is like i use to be able to connect to the web a 57k now i can only get on at 28800k if i am luck,i have asked and asked BT to sort it out,but they come up with some excuses why they, carnt garantee a line connection speed,i am not asking to get on at 57k all the time,45k is fine for me,but 28k is just too slow.
-
and by the way,i am with AOL,with there flat rate, where you pay 15 pounds a month, and that is it,no phone bills to pay,i havent had any trouble, but my dad has big trouble getting it to connect on his pc.
I think everything need to be sorted out in the uk,with the phone lines,we are paying for a service which we are not getting, but what can we do about it?
-
Yeah I agree! Its a bad situation.
We get a poor service for what we pay for and theres nothing we can really do.
-
Do any of you guys already have the USB modem? Sounds interesting.
I just saw one at a video game store beside the AC2:AA package. It was selling for 9,800 yen ($80) which included the browser and the unit. The modem package was in Japanese so I wasn\'t able to ascertain if connection is via the Internet or via direct connection or both.

My TV is aiwa and its nice..(Good Resolution ,No flickering) and its 1 year already..
ILINK... i don\'t care how much the hub will cost if there are many coperative ILINK games.I craved for serial networked games.........
