Title: Oh dear.... not my PS2 please!
Post by: FatalXception on April 19, 2001, 08:32:04 PM
This evening I fast forwarded though about 1/3rd of a DVD, and when I got to the right place, and continued, the DVD was skipping horribly.   I really, really hope I didn\'t mess up my PS2!  Argh!  I can\'t afford to have it fixed if I did.

Warning:  Even if there is a good reason, don\'t FF through 35 minutes of DVD movie.

Why not chapter skip or Scene Selection?

I know that I am pointing out the obvious, but did you try another movie or restarting your PS2. I had terrible problems with a copy of the Sixth Sense; when it changed layers, it skipped all over the place, the audio was terribly garbled which ultimately left 1/3 of the movie unwatchable. Turns out it was a faulty disc; the replacement plays without a hitch.  Hope your problems are not that disimiliar.

I would, but that\'s the "good reason"... I was giving a synopsis of the plot to a friend while we skipped to an important part.  sigh.

EDIT:
To the other post, I hadn\'t seen.  I\'ve watched this movie before, and no problems.   I\'m just about to watch it again from the start after cleaning my PS2... oh gawd... I hope this works!

Aghhhh. . .

Most of my DVD\'s that skip have a fingure print from somewhere. I kknow I never do it. Constent Fast Forwarding should not harm the DVD. Simply for the fact the Nothing other then Light ever touches the DVD. I know its a simple solution and Im sure since you are intelegent that you have tried it, but I would clean it. Agian if neccisary.
