Hmm, I believe both US and Japan are 110V, so your step-down converter should work. Just check to see if your Japanese DC is 110, if so yes, your step down converter/power supply should work fine.

PM Julien - our French forumite, he has a Japanese PS2 I believe.

How many Watts does your converter have?
I also have a jap. DC (100W converter). When I bought my US PS2 I got a new 200W one, just to be on the save side(the 100W converter looks a bit cheap). The PS2 sucks more power than the DC.

I live in Germany.I preordered mine at Gamestop.com and it got it 3 days after the launch.
I got the converter here in Germany in some electronic store(if it helps you:it`s called KXT-200 and was originally made for a fax machine or something).
.If you want to play long sessions,I recommend such a strong converter. They stay cooler and will live longer.
No problems so far.(The only problem is that the duty checks my US games/DVDs more often recently..They spot check the parcels at the airport  - So I have to pay more taxes :(  )
I hope you find a console in the US.Have a nice trip to florida.
