THIS GAME LOOKS HOT!!! PICS RELEASED 30th MAR 2001
I CAN\'T WAIT TILL 28/04/2001
-
What are you going to have to talk about once this game has been out a month or so? Oh wait, there\'s always GT4. Thank God!!!
The month of May is going to suck. What a lame month. I wish we could just skip it.
-
Cheers ##RaCeR##,
That must have taken a heck of a long time to find all those pics from different times in the game\'s development. Great post - thanks!
-
Hey, I was bored!
-
May is going rock.
Look at the IGN release calendar.
Red Faction and Commandos 2.
Thats two good games I can just remember off the top of my head.
-
##RaCeR##, This is the best recap review of GT!! I can\'t wait to get my hands on this game!! :D
-
Isn\'t that first pic from the demo they had when the PS2 was announced?
-
Its the pic they showed at the unvailing of PS2. It is what they hoped the \'final\' product to look like. It is purely FVM.
-
The picture showing the weather effects looks great, except for the jaggies on the hood of the car. Awesome, I can\'t wait! Is that actual game footage or CG. It looks incredible. I have Test Drive Lemans for Dreamcast which has cool weather effects. This game looks like it will top it! The wet road looks amazing.
-
Those last two pics are new to me. They look awesome! Do you know what course they are from?
Man, GT2000 really has come a long way since it was first anounced. I can\'t wait to play it.
-
this is one of the finest posts ive seen at the forums since i came here, great work
Racer, you deserve a :bounce:
-
Ahh I can\'t wait!!!
-
It is purely FVM.
It wasn\'t FMV because they were playing it. Editors from magazines and websites also got to play it.
-
Wow ##RaCeR## you did it again. Another fine post that must have taken a heck of alot of time. You really do deserve a uh, :smokin:
Ya, uh...there we go...a, smokin.....
Remember when you said you were gonna leave the forum? I guess you couldn\'t escape the PSX2 Central charm, eh? hehe

Good post,i was just thinking about the first shots i saw of the game, shows how the game has come along way,and how we shouldnt judge a game from the first shots,we need to give it some time.
P.S what do you all think of the first post,do you think it looks more real?i carnt make my mind up,also did that demo have something to do with the first GT game?
-
I never knew that they actually played that thing!

naw I\'m not grumpy

The only thing I want to do is play this beast
I said its a good timeline, but the fact that we get 2 - 5 GT3 thread posted every week has made me numb to any new info or threads
I really just want to play the game now

Don\'t worry, if things are stale good old Lavan can continue to b!tch at length about the merits of an accurate damage model in racing games.

yeah but the *****ing has nothing to do with SOny or Polyphony. Its all the car manufacturers, so any simulator like Gran Turismo immediately suffers because of this.
There is nothing that can be done in this type of game, getting rid of all the car liscence takes alot of the sparkle away from GT more then the damage issues.
-
Okay, you keep making that statement, and I\'ll keep repeating my reply, play Jarret & Labonte Racing, or Colin McRae 2.0, both games have a huge selection of LICENCED cars - J&L has several models from Mitsubishi, Toyota, Nissan, Chrysler, BMW, Audi, Vauxhall and more. There are more than 50 different cars, and Codemasters didn\'t have nearly as much cash as Polyphony to get licences. All of those cars can be completely smashed up.
Now, I believe it was Sublimesjg who said that perhaps Polyphony didn\'t include a model because not ALL the car manufacturers wanted to include damage. If that was the case, I would gladly take LESS CARS (and still not significantly less because J&L had a lot of manufacturere) for BETTER GAMEPLAY that would come with the damage model.
Polyphony and Sony have made a decision that puts car selection over gameplay, and I for one am not going to stand around with pom-poms and cheer that GT3 will be the best thing since sliced bread when to me it seems it will be GT2 with better graphics and better handling.
Agressive AI doesn\'t mean jack-sh!t if there\'s no real life damage.

Well we can get GT3 in June, or we can wait another year for them to impliment car damage for all the cars. I can\'t wait any longer. And I dissagree about the "...AI doesn\'t mean jack..." I am really excited for the more intelligent AI. It will make the game even more realistic and even more fun to play than previous GT games.
-
Yes it will make the game more fun, but when you\'ve played J&L or Colin McRae you can\'t go back - sure it will be fun to jockey with other cars but when there are no consequences to bumping into them the actual act of racing and racing strategies will be no different than those you use in Ridge Racer. For example, you could cut someone off and not have to worry about the consequences of being bumped from behind, and there are so many other cases.
I know it seems like I\'m going to hate this game no matter what, however nothing could be further from the truth - I\'ve already pre-ordered it, and I am anxiously awaiting it. But, at the same time I already recognise that this game could and should have taken the series to the next level - the envelope has already been pushed with J&L (of course no one played the damn game because it had no hype), but instead of pushing it further Polyphony are content to just improve handling and give us pretty graphics.
Of course, this won\'t really bother those who\'ve never played J&L and Colin McRae, however for those who have it\'s actually quite frustrating and really the first thing on Polyphony\'s agenda when programming GT3 should have been a damage model.
It can\'t be the ultimate driving simulation if you can\'t crash your car.
