Title: hey guys, should i buy a DC while i still can??
Post by: unknown on April 30, 2001, 05:53:48 AM
my friend "my new and only friend" has a DC he has i think 4 controllers, mem cards, shemnue, the first sonic game, crazy taxi, and a few other games.

i asked him if he would sell it to me? and he said yes i offered 80- bucks and he accepted, with everything included :p, so what do you guys think, should i buy his DC? or should i reserve another game like GT3??

Let me tell you a story...

Once upon a time...

HELL YES!!!

Why is he selling it at such a cheap price? Why is he selling it, period?

DC is worth every penny, even when it was $200.

you\'d be a fool not to.

actually, usually, I would call you a fool for not owning a DC period, but I am in a good mood :)

I hope you have fun with your Crapcast. :D j/k
Seriously, Have you played Shenmue yet? It is an awesome game.

BTW, NEVER EVER EVER buy ILLBLEED. This has to be one of the worst games ever. Nice concept. Horrible execution. Blechhh. I am pissed that I bought it.

the games he has are:

shemnue
resident evil code veronica
NFL2K
sonic adventure
house of the dead "with the guncon"

i think thats it, but im definatly going ot get it, i never actually looked at a dreamcast before and i can tell you its pretty heavy, or even played on for that matter, thats right, i neve played a DC, today i played sonic adventure for the first time, i saw the killer whale chasing sonic, and i was in aww, it looks b!tchin, not better than the PS2 games, cause when i put in Z.O.E. he dsaid woah this looks way better than shemnue and was plastered to the screen! :) i was proud and said, you should see bouncer or MGS2 :p

yeah, that is the point. On DC we doint stand around staring at  the pretty graphics, because most of the time, they are non-existant. we PLAY games.

welcome to the fold, the fold of gamers.

I bought a Dreamcast right before Sega announced they were stopping production. I speak for myself when I say that it was a waste of money. The only reason I don\'t sell it is because I can\'t get anything reasonable for it. So it\'ll keep collecting dust until the better games are at prices I\'m willing to pay (JGR and Shenmue for $50 each? No f*ckin way.)

I love my PSX:)

JGR and Shenmue are still better than 90% of the games on PS2 so $50 isn\'t that bad. Why don\'t you get a used one from Ebworld?

But remember that Dreamcast is dying at the moment coz of the downfall on the sale rate or something ... keep that in mind :nut:

Speak for yourself. The DC is easily worth 3x that. I guess no one cares about the quality of games anymore.

The ending of the story is not a happy one, I\'m sorry to say. DC lived out a good life, but never truly reached its potential, and thus, passed away.

DC - You will live forever in the hearts and minds of all true gamers.

I bought  a Dreamcast when they were out of PS2\'s back in Janurary.....man that was a waste. The only game I REALLY wanted to play was RE:CV and after that, there wasnt anything worth buying. I borrowed Shenmue, but it sucked crap. Dont buy it, save your money for Twisted Metal Black and Red Faction.

dud omg... i finally played shemnue today, although the graphics are superb, the game is horrible, i practically fell asleep byt he fact that all they do is talk, i played for about 2 hours and didn even get into a freaking fight!, all i did the entier time i played was ask around for some men wearing black clothes, the acting blows also, im definatly not trying to put down DC, but i didnt see what all they hype was about in shemue. just to much talking for me, sonic is the only game i like so far, havent played RE:CV but i will soon, i think im not going to buy it, onc ei have it, then i have 2 consoles to buy games for, i cant do that, i can only concentrate on 1 console at a time, and right now its the PS2 :)

Big mistake. You WILL regret passing up a great console like the DC.

that\'s really a shame.

If you went into Shenmue thinking it was an action game, I feel immensely sorry for you. Shenmue is an amazing experience that should not be played expecting tons of action(which you get on the third disc), Shenmue is an experience. you Experience the realtime TIME. You experience the weather. You experience the in-depth fighting system. You Experience the action. You Experience the engaging storyline. You Experience the scope. You Experience the vision of Yu Suzuki.

You Do NOT put this game down, or set it down after playing it for a couple of hours. Give me a break. Talk to me when you experience some gaming.

you know what, you are right, i should look into this game a bit more, but what pisses me off is the fact you talk to me like im a stupid a$$, DO NOT talk to me that way, have respect why dotn you, you caould have said that hey your missing out on a game that is awesome, not say im a fake gamer, dont ever say that...

Well it seems you are not buying the DC based solely on the fact that Shenmue did not impress you from the first couple hous, which is admittedly boring.

But, you said you were going to WAIT for the good PS2 games. If you want to play games now, get a DC, there are tons of excellent titles, but it seems as you have never really looked into DC games.

NFL2k2, NBA2k2, Shenmue, JGR, SF3:3, MvC2, Sonic Adventure, Rayman 2, DOA2, VF3tb, Sega GT, GTA2, Soul Reaver, SF Rush 2049, Crazy Taxi, Virtua On: Oratorio Tangram, RE:CV, Soul Calibur, etc, etc, etc!!

research, buy, experience.

you are correct, i never ever looked into DC games cause i havent even seen a DC till now, i never played one, i never wanted one, i never bothered with one because i was waiting for the PS2, but now that it is here and i own it i should get a DC as well, it\'s good to be opened mined with all consoles, thats why i am also planning on getting a X box and GC, but ill do that only when thier pirces drop, how many good games are for the DC?  do you have to pay for sega net?????

good games are NFL2K1, Phantasy Star Online (Never really played it, only heard about it) RE:CV, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Sonic Adventure (gameply sucks, just really fast and nice eye candy).

As for SegaNet, dont get it, I use my college access number to sign online for free with it, I never played a game online though so I couldnt tell you if it was laggy, PSO from what I heard isnt laggy at all.

if you are planning on using a free ISP on your DC, forget about it. For you will enter lag city. I have never played a laggy game of NFL2K1 or NBA2K1 with another SegaNet user though, as I did with Netzero, freeInternet, etc. It is definetly worth it, as I am using it to type this very letter (on my PC of course)
