How about deleting inactive accounts so that we know how many actual posters we have.
Something like:
Delete inactive accounts after X days, where X is the number of posts made by the account; if X < 15 then X = 15; if X > 365 then X = 365. That way people would have 2 weeks to post something when they join. Any post you make gets you a minimum of two weeks, maximum of a year (for people with over 365 posts). If you go look at members, and sort by join date, you will see a TON of people who posted about 5-10 posts, and haven\'t been here in over a year.

i voted yes but i really dont give a ****!!
:laughing::laughing::laughing:
-
well personally i have seen alot of peoplethat have been here a long time but do not post often if at all some times - they are just here to watch and every now and then they post something if it peaks their interest - so it wouldn\'t work becuase of that
but i see what you mean and all
-
I agree, but not with the numbers you use,
I think everybody should get half a year, but if your over 100 you get 1 year and above 500 gives you an imune status
-
I think they should delete the accounts that have been here for more than a months with 0 posts.
-
Nice system FatalXception. It\'s fair and will get rid of a lot dead accounts. Ask the admin. if he can start this system. :)
-
Well, I\'m hoping the admins will notice this, but there probably has to be a lot more members in agreement, before they\'ll start deleting accounts. So far it\'s almost a 3:1 ratio in favor of some sort of house cleaning, so that\'s good.. :bounce:
EDIT: Bwahahah! Now it\'s a 10:1 ratio!! wow!
-
I agree with the system but how about sending them a private messege to warn them. If they dont reply to it we will know the dont use it so then delete them
-
I agree with deleting inactive accounts. The thing that I don\'t like is when someone registers, posts once asking some question then never coming back.
Maybe just delete accounts that are like 3 months old and never used.
-
I still say DELETE NO-ONE!
Nah seriously, I don\'t see why you\'re getting worked up about inactives. Just let \'em be. Who knows, perhaps they find out they want to post at a later date. It\'s not exactly a crime to not be posting daily. :)
-
But it takes up server space. We had a thread about how we reached 3000 posters and a good 1500 of them have never posted. Why waste the server space?

I say delete all the names with no posts and over a month old
Then delete all the names with posts less then 500 but nothing in the last year.
Then lets seee where we are at

i still dont give a ****

Yep good idea.

AUGGH!!! Why is nobody posting?!?! *damn suggestion thread that nobody reads*
If we don\'t get at least 20 of the regular poster in here, why in the world would the mods ever consider implementing a policy? Cmon! 13 votes out of 3000 members, probably 300 active??? That\'s like .3%.... Where is your pride?? Voter turnout is key to a democracy, and we know that mm believes in that!!! Lets go peep! Get those votes in!
-
I don\'t think it\'s technically possible to make a \'formula\' that can delete the inactives. This piece of forum software just doesn\'t work that way AFAIK.

This post that you have made will only reach those 13 people who actually voted, correct? Kind or ironic, don\'t ya think?
-
i know why fatal exception wants all in active posters gone = there is a poster called the grim reaper who has the same pick as him but hasnt posted in a while (dec)
lol i should be a detective !
like the pick though
-
Heh heh, that\'s a fringe benefit - but he has 500 posts, so even by my scheme I have to wait till december 2001...
Besides, I started this poll before I picked my picture (and I picked my picture from GIFS.com (http://www.gifs.com)), and then later no-one pointed out the fact that it was taken.
I hope the fact that this suggestion forum\'s "files" keep turning yellow will attract the non-reading masses!

i still dont give a ****!!:laughing::laughing::laughing:
j/ks na i like ddaryl\'s idea but i think the guys under 500 posts have to post every 6 months and over 1000 every 12 months............ or something.
ya see if everyone gives opinions then we can come up wtih a solution to fix this problem. (get rid of the postless scum):D
-
Yes, ddaryl\'s idea is good. If a person registers and then decides to get back after a month ( without posts ), finds his/hers account deleted, can this person register again with the same name, if wanting so, and not losing a bit.
So yes, for the benefit of the registered members count, and for the great effort FatalXception has put into this thread, I shall vote "I AGREE".
-
I\'ve got a better idea. Lets delete everyone who hasnt voted!!!
That will get all the regulars in here having there say!
-
I guess there are many people that don`t know that this threads exists.
Surely there a many people that don`t even look into the suggestions forum.
If you want all posters to vote this should be in the main forum.
-
Just ignore me like you always do! *cries*
Heh, seriously though, as I already said, I don\'t think it can be done.
-
Can\'t it be? Give 3-4 people with trustworthy amounts of posts and time joined temp admin priviliges, and let em do it one at a time. It wouldn\'t be hard, I could make a table. Go to the memberlist, sort by date, and work from the back to the front, deleting the very old accounts...
Pardon the grammar. I just don\'t care enough :D.
