There is no new info on the actual game, but I thought this was pretty cool.
Following the report of their third quarter financial results, Midway revealed that Mortal Kombat 5 will be making an appearing[sic] this year on both the XBox and the PS2. Unfortunately, the game is not slated for the GameCube at this time. All 3 systems will be receiving Midway\'s Arctic Thunder, NFL Blitz 2002 and their new title, NHL Hitz 2002.

If this is true, this is great news! I can\'t wait to see some gameplay footage of this game. I\'m looking forward to it more than VF4 and DOA3.
"Unfortunately, the game is not slated for the GameCube at this time." [sarcasm on]Can you see the shocked look on my face? :) j/k.

please don\'t hate me for it, but I never really liked the series, I mean, the finish him\'s were fun, but once you\'ve seen them you get the point, and they can only be funny once,
the game itself was too fast IMO
-
I liked the earlier ones but i grew tired after the second one
-
Oh dear... not Mortal Kombat. ;)
-
There are 5 ways for them to get me interested:
1) More Fatalitys and stuff like that
2) More Complex fighting
3) No more crappy blood
4) Blocking w/o L1, L2, R1, or R2 buttons
5) More characters
If they change this it will be an awesome fighter.

I guess I\'m the only MK fan on this board. Oh well. LONG LIVE MORTAL KOMBAT! :D
-
Yeah, I never really like MK either. Some aspects were fun, but, bleh, just could never get into it.
I always was and always will be a StreetFighter man! ;)
-
Um another mortal combat... this game is mortal hence its death was way back duriong mk3
-
I liked the early MKs but the last few were just too complicated to be enjoyable. When you have to download a bunch of move lists, and tactics off the internet just to survive a couple of fights, the game has lost it\'s beauty. Remember how simple MK1 and MK2 were - and yet... we used to sit around playing them for hours....
-
w00t go MK
-
Well I don\'t mind MK its just that the later installments were crap!
-
I liked the first 2 MK\'s..the rest sucked.
I liked the first few street fighters, but it got old.
those are, IMHO, dead fighters :(
Tekken and Virtual Fighter has taken their place (and they\'ll soon be dead and replaced, too, I bet!)
-
Mortal Kombat 2 was the best of the bunch IMO.
But as some say i don\'t have my own opipion, and just go with the crowd, thats completely wrong. I really wish they have stopped at MK2 because the series is milked to far. MK2 was plenty, the move to 3d sucked major ass.

No way bro, I\'m a big fan of Mortal Kombat! I think the best looking one was on the N64, Mortal Kombat 4. The DC and the PS was not as good. I can\'t wait for the new 3D engine that MK5 will be using. :D
-
I\'m an ex mk fan....
Tekken dances on the rotting corpse of MK, hahaha :) yeah Tekken forever
honestly I do look foward to this game If they dump the entire fighting engine, characters, button layout etc etc. Start over again and make it like mk2, with complex juggles, combos and charcater design. :)
-
I have all of the MK except for Sub-Zero mythologies and special forces. I hope they have some cool new fighters and better fatalities w/ stage fatalities too.
Finish Him! :burn::boom:
-
The MK series rox, even though it went a little downhill.
Its true that its coming to the PS2 but not this year, they already said it wont be ready this year
-
Only 11 more days until we (probably) see MK5 in motion! I can\'t wait! This E3 is going to rock.
-
The DC and the PS was not as good
Your joking right?? The DC version was the best looking one to date. Hell each character had more than 3000 polys. The dc version kicked the n64 and Playstation\'s ass.
-
Hooray, more Midway MK ****.
-
argh..my eyes...stop the MK madness...
*GET OVER HERE!!!*
Don\'t hurt me mr.scorpion...

None of you people liked MK3? It was MK2, but faster and with more characters, more blood; generally just more of the sugary goodness that was MK2. How could you not like it? Played on the Genesis w/ a 6-button controller, that game absolutely rocked! My friends and I would sit around, get drunk, play MK3, and talk crap to each other for hours on end...makes me a little misty-eyed thinking about it...
After that, I agree that it went downhill. And I never liked the control of the PSX version either...
-
Sub Zero better have the fatality where he rips your head off and the spine dangles....
I liked all the mortal kombats accept for 4..... There was too many new people with really ****ty move lists

I love the PSX controller. R1 is block, R2 is run. It doesn\'t get any better than that. :)
My all time favorite MK game was MK:Trilogy on the PSX even with all of the bugs it had. There were just so many characters. :D Second place goes to MK2 on the Genesis because that was before they had the dial-a-combo system. You could create your own combos, which was really cool.
