FF2 or in jap FF4
-
I saw Final Fantasy on the NES a long time ago, and thought it was really cool. Up until I saw FFVII in action a few years back, I hadn\'t been interested in RPGs too much. So, I guess for me it was FFVII.
-
I watched a friend play final fantasy 7...... I got into the story and ended up beating it before he did.
-
gotta be Zelda on the Gameboy
-
i played zelda and all but i didnt get hooked to RPG\'s until FF7 came around
-
Whew...hard question.
Ive been playing them for so long.
I would have to say Shining Force.
That game simply rocked.

Wow, this takes me back, probably going to have to split this one up
1.Castlevania 2: Simon\'s Curse, that was one spooky game when i was a child
2.Final Fantasy One, simple, yet engrossing rpg
3.DragonWarrior: although i couldn\'t grasp the concept at 5 years old
4.Willow, I don\'t remember much but that I played it all the time.
5.Final Fantasy II(4):This is when I really got hooked, I began to actually pay attention to what was going on and was hooked ever since
Thanks for hearing my 2 cents :)

Hmmm..FF gameboy games introduced me to rpgs way back in first grade, but I wasn\'t really hooked untill ff2 and secret of mana (I guess it could\'ve been the First 2 zelda games for nes actually but zelda is almost more adventure)
If you\'ll count games in general thatn it was D&D before any of the above.
-
Zelda.
-
FF7
-
it was zelda back whwn i was little, but when i seriously got hooked to rpgs it was ff7!!! :D

Dragon Warrior 1 (Dragon Quest 1)
-
OMG DRAGON WARRIOR I played that for hours and after I beat I beat it again and again and again....I remember once i had so much exp drag lord was a joke. I now have dragon warrior on my nintendo emulator on my pc w000t

Definitely FFVII (I\'m so pathetic, out of my 687 posts there must have been about 500 where I talk about FFVII!). Before that I didn\'t even know this genre existed. I knew about some role playing games on PC but they looked far from interesting. I do not like 1st person perspective at all. I had been playing platformers on the Megadrive and some random PC games, when I stumbled upon a demo of FFVII and fell in love instantly! The balance of adventuring & fighting was perfect for me. After that when I got a PS I started buying pretty much every RPG I could get my hands on. Not that I have that many RPGs. The best ones never come here to Europe!

Always is and always will be FFVII .... this game was my first RPG in the PS1 and im still hooked playing it (3/4 away from my 7th ending :D )
-
well, sice you guys are calling zelda an rpg........my first RPG game WAS Zelda I didnt really get into RPG\'s till Dragonwarrior and Final Fantasy

FF7
-
Catslevania II - the only RPG of the series... great game
Phantasy Star II - Best game ever.
Final Fantasy VII - Just a huge leap in RPGs
ChronoTrigger - Booyeah.
Zelda: Link to the Past - Half RPG half action. Still a classic.
-
Actually, the first game to get me into RPG\'s was Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (tabletop version, 2nd edition). Up until Final Fantasy VII came out, I could stand RPG\'s because none of them TRUELY let you role play. The closest game to the feel of AD&D was Quest for Glory, but I don\'t think I can really count that since it\'s an Adventure/RPG. After FF7 I finally saw what I was missing out on, kick ass games with good storyline that\'ll last you a long time.

I know how ya feel. It seems everytime I open my mouth here I end up talking about something that came out of Oakhurst. :)
-
FFVII sure.
-
Final Fantasy 7
but im not exactly hooked on RPG\'s. Im hooked on Square RPG\'s. No other company has made as many RPG\'s that hook me in
-
well... the zelda\'s originally, but really the first RPG that hooked me in was Secret of Mana... as soon as I chucked that cart in for the first time it was all on :D
FF7 has had the for the most time overall though, and is definitely my fave RPG ever
-
Geez, everyone says FF7, we got alot of youngins on this here message board (old man voice)
Mine would have to be Phantasy Star. Which at the time, I didn\'t know it was an RPG. In fact, it wasnt until Chrono Trigger that I realised what an RPG was.
Mine in order of playing were Phantasy Star, Shining Force, Phantasy Star 4, Chrono Trigger, FF3.

Dragon Warrior I broke me into RPGS, but it was Final Fantasy VI that truly made me an RPG fanatic:)
