How well do you think this game will do? its due out by the end of may, and the game looks really good. although it is only running at a solid 30 fps or higher, the game uses geo-mod, realtime modifications to in game areas.
in otherwords you can mess with everything.
I say it will be THE FPS to beat on the ps2. if everything goes as planned, it will be great. hopefully the multiplayer will be great as well as the huge singleplayer they were focusing on.
supposedly the game will have 60+ levels. will this game become one of the most revolutionary fps? here are some of the latest screens:

will ps2\'s next FPS(first person shooter) be one of the best and most revolutionary games to date? will it set the standard for FPS to come?

I have high hopes for this game.
But if the ps2 sucks (control, framerate etc), theres always the pc version with a Ge Force 3 :)
-
there is a pc version? i dont remeber hearing that anywhere is it on the red faction website? ill go check:D
-
i have a feeling its gonna suck on ps2!!! IMHO i think all fps games suck on console and do good on pc while all rpg games do good on console and suck on pc!!!

Yeah all console fps really suck???
-
Red Faction should be good but im still going to wait and see before making my final judgement.

Maybe it´s to early to bring out this FPS for PS2...
1. It must have a good framerate.
2. It must have mouse and keyboard support.
3. It has to be a multiplayergame, so you can play it via the I-net.
OK, I do hope that it has a good framerate, but the other two things are missing...
I thing, it will be a very good game... but maybe the second part (?!) will be better...
-
For those of you who have received your demo of this game, you know where the framerate issue stands. It MUST be beefed up. It isn\'t terrible, but, for a next-gen system, it ALMOST borders on unacceptable.
Fortunately, it was only a demo, and not the caliber demo that magazines and websites have been receiving. Plus, THQ has stated that the framerate is one of their top priorities.
As for being the best and most revolutionary, I don\'t see it breaking any sales records, but I definitely see it as being pretty damn cool. Geo-mod looks to be a pretty kick ass addition to the FPS genre, but it was only a matter of time before someone whipped this out, especially with the hardware available to developers nowadays.
All this aside, it is definitely on my "must buy" list, as I have been waiting to play a decent FPS with a good story on my PS2, where it belongs. Yeah, I got Half-Life, but, my comp is way too crappy to really get into it.
Happy hunting! :D

I agree with Majin Prince that all console FPS games suck coz you don\'t have the mouse/keyboard setup.
And to Falcon4, Red Faction was being developed for the PC first and then the code was ported over to the PS2 I think. I remember reading about the PC version on IGN before it was announced for the PS2.
I hope THQ will start making some games from the ground up for the PS2.
Summoner wasn\'t the best looking game, and Red Faction looks ok but not nothing more. The gameplay looks killer though. I\'ll wait for the PC version as well.

well thisi s the biggest pile of BS iv read ina whil;e, ok so yuor saying htat golden eye for the N64, and Perfect Drak were horrible games... i think you should have thought out your reply a bit more before you posted it.
and eye, key board and mouyse support is a good feature, but its definatly not necessary to have it, all the FPS that have come out exept UT dont have K & M support, but does that ,make them suck.. no it doesnt,
and as for the I net, i think some people would be disappointed to see this game delayed for another few months till th MODEM release, i would understand if the modem was already released and they didnt add support, but people would lose interest as time passed,
my final word:
the frame rate will be fixed by released, this game s gonna rock, im gonna be playing it like there is no tomorrow,:p

I never understood what was so great about GoldenEye. I didn\'t even find it remotely interesting.
Half Life kills that game IMO.

Well, Goldeneye had a monsterous impact on the gaming world for a reason. Its multiplayer is fantastic, untouched in my opinion. You would never get bored of a two player license to kill match with another friend. The only console FPS to have a multiplayer as good as Goldeneye\'s is Perfect Dark(but its made by the same developer so it doesn\'t really count). This game\'s replay value is endless(unless you bought PD ;)).
Also, its single player mode is totally underrated. It had so much more replay value than Half-Life\'s single player mode, that\'s almost a fact. Once you beat it on agent, then you had to beat it on secret agent. Once you were done with secret agent you had to move on to 00agent which was ****ing hard. Also, getting the cheat codes adds to the single player replay value. Some of them were mind boggling(it took me forever to get the invincible cheat).
The game was just awesome at the time. It may have been too hard for you but for others it was an awesome gaming experience that you\'ll never forget.
One more thing, the game sold over 7 million copies...
-
I think its going to rock.
I put the demo in my PS2 demo unit at work so everyone else can play this wonderful game.
I wonder when Im going to get in trouble for that?
-
GoldenEye multiplayer is horrbile.
Split screen multiplayer sucks just admit it.
I also found the multiplayer levels extremely bland and boring. And the pace of the game is slow beyond words.
Half Life, Quake, UT and of course Counter Strike kill those two N64 games in multiplayer now that\'s a fact.
I could care less how many copies a game sells, it doesn\'t actually make it a good game. Look at Pokemon and the Tomb Raider series for instance...
The reason why it sold that much has to do with that there aren\'t that many FPS games on the system and it\'s one of the few games IMO that\'s above average quality for that system...
The main reason why I find most PC FPS games
better hasn\'t got anything to do with Perfect Dark and GoldenEye being bad games but I can\'t play FPS games without mouse/keyboard. It just kills the whole gameplay without that setup.
And if you say that PD and GE are the best multiplayer games then you either haven\'t played with mouse/keyboard or that you found it too hard or that you for some odd reason don\'t like PC games as a principle.
If you think otherwise that\'s fine by me but please don\'t try and convince me those N64 games are better coz IMO they aren\'t, not even close.
-
I played GoldenEye,its not bad.
I hope Rare make TimeSplitters2 splitScreen and I-linked capable.I don\'t like opponents know where i am by anticipating my screen.
-
goldeneye was a great fps at the time, and usually, they have in game radar waspman.... so wouldnt you know where youre opponent was anyway?
-
Look at Pokemon and the Tomb Raider series for instance...
First of all Pokemon was actually a good game. Sure it may have been kiddy but it was fun to play and took tons of thinking and strategising to come up with a killer pokemon team.
Second of all, I agree, Tomb Raider sucks. :D
-
Split-screen really does split the opinions. Some love it, some hate it - some think it\'s a great way to play with friends, some think it\'s not. To me, it\'s a great addition. There\'s nothing funnier than blasting your mates in Quake III revolution in PS2, and nobody has whined about the controls after I found the \'Advanced\' -controlling method to be the best.
And many of us aren\'t rich b@st@rds with enough money to buy a new computer with GeForce 3, unfortunately, so we just have to get pleased with the offerings of our console. And I friggin\' am. Red Faction is on top of my \'must-buy\' list, and I will buy it to PS2. Of course I would buy it for my PC if I would have three times better computer than I do, and GeForce 3.
But this is cold reality, and why whine? I got a Ps2 still.

this game is gonna be sooooooo cool, i cant wait
