Do you think that the PS3 will have PSone and PS2 backwards compatibility? Would it enhance the PS1 and 2 graphics even MORE?

Again,I can promise you that the PS.3 will not have PSOne compatability.
It\'s about 5 years until we\'ll see the PS.3,the psx was released \'95-\'96 so that\'s keeping compatability for 10 year old games.There\'s no need for that.
PS.2 games are a different story.

nO-One, That\'s a good point, but I think Sony will never stop making PSone games. Look at it now, PSone games are still poring out left and right and they just release the new PSone. PSone has still good games, I think PS2 games are too short, but PSone has longer games. :D

Pstwo: Sony will eventually quit releasing Psone games. Right now, the PS2 is still new and there is a massive market for Psone games. Over the course of next year I would imagine Psone games will slow down to a trickle. Maybe alittle longer. But, by the time the PS3 is released you can be assured Psone games won\'t be coming out.
As for PS3 running PSone /PS2 games that all depends on how Sony designs the system. I truly doubt it will run Psone games--as like NoOne said, there is no reason for Sony to support 10 year old games.

LOL,LOL,LOL Sony and MS have every right to do what the heck they want.
But let me say this, why are you guys thinking about PS3 when PS2 is still New. Oh yeah that\'s right cause really it didn\'t turn out to be anything revolutionary. Anyhow I can only hope MS comes through with the goods, cause if XBOX is simply not AMAZING, or MINDBLOWING, then i think i\'ll look into getting that GeForce 3.

No-one: Don\'t promise that the PS3 won\'t be backwards compatible. Personally, if it\'s easy and cheap to implement, I don\'t see why they wouldn\'t! Backwards compatibility is one of the greatest features ANY system can have. I still get out the ol\' sega Genesis once in a while, but I would have been willing to pay 30-40 bucks more for the saturn or dreamcast (*had they used the same media, for instance*) to have them backwards compatible. The truly great games never die - I still play Phantasy Star II, Phantasy Star IV, Super Metroid (SNES), Blaster Master (NES).
If they don\'t make the PS3 backwards compatible, it means people who occasionaly want to play PSone games have to plug in their old PSone or PS2.... I think many would be willing to pay a small amount more for full backwards compatibility (ie, 15-25 USD).

I myself think it\'ll be able to play PS2 games but i\'m nto sure about psx games. I\'m assuming they\'ll just leave that out

I doubt the PS3 would have PS1 compatability. The games would be so old, there really wouldn\'t be enough demand for it to validate it\'s inclusion. However, since the PS3 will almost all but certainly be an upgrade and refinement of the PS2 hardware, then they would still need a basic I/O chip, and I think the original EE would still be a bit too expencive and bulky to be used for such a trivial role in the machine. If they\'re going to put the original PS1 cpu into the PS3 as the I/O chip (which I doubt since it probably won\'t be powerful enough) then you might be able to play PS1 games after all...
Chances are though, that it will only provide backwards compatability with PS2 games, and will offer PS1 emulation though software.. provided by one of a hundred different companies or freelance programmers.

In 5 years, no one will play PSone games on such a new console. I hope there will be not Tekken 18 and GT 23 but new games. (like MGS3 :) )

I seriously doubt there will be backwards compatibility for the psone, and i doubt there will be any graphics inhancement for old games

I hope that they do include PSOne support. Honestly, even now it wasn\'t that hard to do and it didn\'t hinder the PS2 in any way. I have a buttload of PSOne games, and unless they do PS2 remakes for all of them, I plan on playing them for a long time.

Well im happy to just to enjoy the console I have, which is new and has lots of future ahead of it. I don\'t want to look into the future and speculate how much better the PS3 will be compared to the PS2, infact I hope the PS3 isn\'t released for another 5 years.
We should all look into the PS2\'s future and speculate what great things will be going on, after all we all have just paid a fair chunk of cash to own one.
On the backwards compatability issue I don\'t think the PS3 will be backwardly compatable with PS1 games. However im sure some form of emulator will be availible.

I think no. It would be only for ps2 games but personally I don´t think that... why? the ps2 chip isn´t cheap and PS3 chip will be great... I can´t explain... but the question is: how many bits will have ps3? 256? no... I wanna 512!! :)

i think it would be a waste for sony if they did have ps1 compatability cuz everybody would move on to both next gen console and games by then. in 5 years ps1 games will probably be long gone.
