What would be your primary concern
Graphicstexture compression, Max raw polygon count, lighting, nurbs, fractals..etc)
SoundDolby 5.1, 3d effects to fully immerse the player in the game and crap load of sound channels like 128 just to say
System Power Like up to 1.0Ghz including heavy duty Gigaflops or beyond double proccesors or tripple like saturn did
3DBasically a 3D powerhouse
2DThe Retro System...would being tears to Capcom\'s eyes, side scroller and platform fans everywhere.
Total System Memory Including but not limited to VRam, system bandwith, and hard drive(if necessary)
I\'m just interested in knowing Becuase if they let gamers design a console(on the contrary to what Microsoft says they did obviously ripping off the DC controller but that\'s another story all together) I think we all have good ideas on how our "Dream System" would be so please post your ideas.:)

hmmm...this is tough...
-
i would probably focus on both the graphics and the system power!!!
-
I want the power but I\'m leaning toward memory. I mean what to good is a graphic powerhouse if it keeps running into memory problems. The more memory the better the graphics and more things developers can stuff into their games.
-
I would focus on what the developers feel is most important... I would survey them to find out.
-
Personally, I would go with memory, overall architecture, and for more than that, I would try to make a balanced but powerfull system.

Yes that\'s a good plan but it\'s hard to make a balanced but powerful system nowadays. And with the medial always looking for any weakness to so easily exploit it makes you wanna focus on what not to do by taking by seeing the mistakes from past systems. But I\'m still leaning toward memory. Besides the more memory you have the less chance of seeing the "ol blue screen of death"hehehe:D

humm.. here\'s some..
64bit framebuffer,
128bit accumlation buffer "or higher",
similar/better per-pixel rendering than sgi_optimizer/renderman. (you can basicaly do everything),
3D and 4D textures with vector_quantization compression.
Layered Z-Buffer
On-chip memory for EE, for complex AI/physics calculation without touching storage memory.
nice order-independent edge-AA.
support for stereo_monitors. "would be sweet"
"multi layer CD storage."
Keep the thing with streaming architecture
and plenty of other stuff.
