I haven\'t purchased either a DC or PS2 and my PS1 is getting boring.. I\'m looking to get a DC and Ferrari Challenge to bide my time when PS2 drops in price and GT3 is here.
FWIW the DC does put out some respectable games. The said game is very realistic and has been touted to be as close to driving a Ferrari as doing the actual thing.
I\'m getting it, but I hope I\'m not considered an outcast for going to DC for awhile... :D

youre choice, the ps2 price will drop at least 50$ at e3, do you really want to spent 150$ for a system that is dying, and a game? or wait 12 days? (mabye more considering gts isnt due out until mid june :( i wouldnt do it..... but if you are, there are many good games for dreamcast, but the purchase is not good in the long run... in my opinion;)

Not buying a DC due to Sony \'loyalty\' = Idiocy
-
go for it. THe DC has plenty of great games, I would buy one but right now I\'m just too broke. I plan on buying one in the summer , once i start getting my cash flow going again, hopefully there will still be DC\'s available.
FYI, I also have a PS2 , I love it and all but right now there just arent that many games that hold interest to me so its just collecting dust. That\'ll all change in teh summer and fall :D
-
DC is such a good system I imported one 6 months before it came over to US shores... Sadly, I got Godzilla with it! (horrible game) but other than that, get a damn DC!!! You\'d really have to be one really stupid peice of **** PS2 ****ing fanboy to not get one. But hey, it depends on how old you are. I don\'t blame you for your loyalte if you are under 14
-
It\'s \'blasphemy\' :)
Anyhow..
Getting a Dreamcast = a smart thing to do.
So what if the system is dying. It only means you\'ll be able to purchase great games @ great prices.

- the trick is to keep breathing.

Actually, they plan not to lower the price of the PS2 at E3 by 50 bucks, but rather they will lower it by 100 bucks at (q3 is it) the next big expo, a couple o\' months later.
IE - Don\'t use the price drop as a factor.
-
I got a Dreamcast and a lot of 2d Fighters for really cheap. :) There are not really any 2d fighters announced for the PS2 yet, and I couldn\'t pass up on that opportunity. It was just so cheap! :)
-
Yeah, the DC might be dying.. but from my experience the average person never usually buys more than 20 games for any one particular system. If you can\'t find at least 20 games that are well worth their money then there is something seriously wrong with you. And at 100 dollars for the unit, I can\'t see why anyone isn\'t jumping on this deal.
Sega really did good this time.. to bad the company just couldn\'t hold out and support the product further. :(
-
I desperately want a DC.
I must get Soul Calibur, PSO, Shenmue and others! I think the only thing that matters when getting a console is its games.
-
Getting a Dreamcast = wise choice. Cheap (relatively), great games. Everyone should have one. Well... I don\'t either, blah.
I\'m in a hurry to get one too, but my financial situation stops me from doing so. Gotta get a job...
-
I could get a DC, but I see no need, I don\'t need to go backwards. I kinda want a DC for PSO, but I\'m not going to get it because PS2 is making me quite happy :) and there is just no need for another system right now.
-
I wish I never gave my sisters back their DC. It\'s a great system with great games.
Besides, I STILL have MvsC out from the video store, so, I may as well use it, right? :D
-
Definitely consider getting a DC, it was a great system... one of the best gaming lineups ever seen on a system. Catered to so many tastes, whilst still having a HUGE amount of intuitive and unique titles...
The system might be dying, but the games support isn\'t quite done yet, over the coming year sega are going to pump the last bit of life into the system with some KILLER titles, Sonic Adventure 2, Crazy Taxi 2, Shenmue 2, Jet set radio 2, it just goes on.
It\'s all about which games you\'d rather play.... is it those ones, plus the current library??? Or is it GT3, MGS2, and FFX..... VERY hard decision I know, but I\'ll always go in favour of my beloved PS2 :)
What I\'m saying is go by the types of games YOU want to play...

Buddy, you seriously think buying a DC is a waste of 100 bucks? I think 100 bucks for a DC is deal, even if there aren\'t many new games coming out for it, the existing library is incredible!
-
Yeah, but it\'s 100 bucks to start + more for games. I personally almost bought one just for PSO, since the Phantasy Star series is my favorite all time series, but I figured I\'d save my money and just live with FFX and FFXI when they come out. :D

Yes, but the games are cheaper than most PS2 games, and in many cases they\'re better. Right now, I think the DC\'s library beats the PS2\'s library - and I know that\'s only because the DC\'s been out for much longer - but still if you love videogames, denying yourself one of the best consoles available just because of \'loyalty\' to Sony is lunacy.
I play my friend\'s DC every weekend and I love the existing library of titles, especially since I\'m primarily a sports gamer right now the DC offers much more quality sports titles than the PS2 (espcially driving games) - I\'ll be picking up a DC for myself very soon.
Just my opinion, I still like my PS2 (ATV, SSX and MLS ExtraTime).
-
BUY IT! DC rocks, and I can\'t emphasize its value too much. It\'s worth every penny and more.
-
I\'m getting it, but I hope I\'m not considered an outcast for going to DC for awhile...
Except for a couple of morons, no one here would consider you an outcast for buying a DC.
but the purchase is not good in the long run... in my opinion
Why is it not good in the long run? Most games are still available, w/ a year left for its future. Are the games gonna be less enjoyable when the DC\'s life ends?
I could get a DC, but I see no need, I don\'t need to go backwards.
Would you care to explain how getting a DC is going "backwards"?
Spend the money and get one, ASAP. You won\'t regret it.
-
I\'m selling my DC actually, I\'m hopping off the Sega bandwagon and getting a PS2.
I\'ll probably be putting it on eBay for stupidly cheap, because I just don\'t want it anymore. Ferrari 355 is such a f*cking hard game I shouldn\'t have bought it.
Other games I have that will most likely be getting sold with it:
Omikron, Vigilate8: 2nd offense, Dead or Alive 2, Soul Calibur(mmmm great game), NFL 2k1, NBA 2K1, Toyko Extreme Racer 2, Quake3, and Unreal Tournament.
Two controllers, two memory cards too.
If anyone is interested, email me @ darkenedfalls@hotmail.com and say what price you\'d be willing to pay, just so I can see if it\'s worth selling that way or not.
-
ahahahaha:D i find that funny...
he wants to sell his dreamcast even after reading all of these pro dreamcast responces....
i just find it funny, thats all :D
hahahahahahahahaha :)
-
Not getting a dreamcast = stupid.
;)
It is a great system who had a short life. :(
-
Hey Angelis, how much do you want for it??? I\'m selling off my Sega Genesis + Sega CD + Sega 32x + 5 games + lightgun + all the extras for 100 bucks tomorrow. Once I sell my sword I\'ll have about 50 extra bucks to buy a game (or two) with. Name a price and I\'ll see if I can match it. Right now, I\'m going for the 75 dollar DC + 1 VMU + 1 controller at the pawn shop, and picking up a PSO and Shenmue (or MSR.. whichever is in stock).
So how much would you want for the DC, one controller, 1 VMU, and two games? (Soul Calibur and Q3)
-
Hehehe damn right I want to sell it in a place where everyone likes it, I\'m dumb but not stupid. =)
How about the console, two controllers, two memory cards (what am I going to do if I only have one controller and a memory card) and the two games you wanted (Q3 and Soul Calibur) for $110USD?
It is a great system, and none of my cds are scratched. But I just bought a PS2 since my last post and I know it\'s not going to die off. There\'s still great games coming out for Dreamcast in this last year though.
Half Life, Soldier of Fortune, Crazi Taxi 2, System Shock 2, Spider Man and more. Plus all the cool games it already has.

dreamcast isnt a person, it wouldnt be who, it would be that

Hell yeah, I\'ll take you up on that deal. I\'m not sure how to go about it, but as soon as I have the cash in my hand I\'ll let you know. It shouldn\'t take more than a week tops. If you haven\'t sold it by then, tell me and I\'ll go get a money order for the 110 dollars. The rest of the cash should cover all the S&H.
Anybody know what I\'d need to know before doing this? Cost of a good shipping company, insurance, and all that?
-
Ok, email me at darkenedfalls@hotmail.com and I\'ll give you my info.
You just need to get a US money order and send it to me. Then I\'ll cash it and pay the shipping and insurance on the parcel and mail it on out.
-
Sorry man, I don\'t work that way. I\'m willing to pay all the shipping/handeling/insurance as long as I have a way of knowing that I\'ll get the Dreamcast for my payment and that it\'ll be in good shape. Not that I don\'t trust you, but a 110 bucks is too much to go sending off across the ocean without a guantee. I\'m sure you\'d feel the same way.
Isn\'t there a site or service where we can both sign a "contract" of sorts, and where they won\'t deliver the moneyorder until they have the shipment.. and won\'t pick up the shipment until they have the moneyorder? I\'ll look around on the net a bit and see if I can dig anything up at the usual parcel-delivery buisnesses. (Fed-Ex, UPS, Priority Mail... ect)
-
We could use eBay and have you win the auction. Just bid like $1000, and nobody will top it. Then we\'re bound to a legal contract saying that we\'ll complete the transaction. You mail the money order with whatever shipping/insurance money. (Insurance is like $25CDN) As soon as I get that, I\'ll mail the dreamcast using Insured UPS. If in two weeks you don\'t get a dreamcast, then cancel the money order and you can sue me since we both agreed to eBay\'s terms.
-
Course, if he bid 1000 dollars, he couldn\'t sue you, cause he would have breached his contract with you through ebay... and you would have to pay ebay a helluvalot in commision. I know there are sites out there that do exactly what he say, hold the money till item arrives... try checking Billpoint (http://www.billpoint.com) or Paypal (http://www.paypal.com), see if they\'ll do that.
