This isn\'t really a debate, but it always seems to end that way, so I\'m putting this here.
After the recent Obi Wan, AI, Matrix 2, Buffy(I h8 the show, but love action adventures) etc announcements, the promise of at least a few more big announcements at E3, and a line up I was already interested in prior to both, I must say, XB\'s library is looking better and better. I can\'t wait to get my hands on it, and anyone who\'s already written it off is foolish IMO....

2. Since you are a known Xbox fanboy, you will attract Sony and Nintendo fanboys like a virgin on prom night.
As to your opinion, well, that\'s all fine. It\'s, after all, difficult to disagree with an opinion. Buffy won\'t be very good, I think, that style of game, taken from a series usualy sucks. I\'m looking forward to hearing about the Matrix games (even if it sucked, it\'ll be pretty sweet - and probably popular), as will a few of the others they are talkin\' about.

You can **** off too, since with your lack of intelligence, you can\'t do much else. If you can\'t deal with a truely unbiased, honest opinions, then you got a problem. I personally suggested to no fewer than 4 people in the last week to pick up a PS2. And they did, and were happy.

Fact is this: All three systems have good software lineups so the playing field is even in that respect. Third party support is no longer an issue for any of the three big players and you will start to see a gap come from somewhere...could be any thing graphics, audio, online...could be anything and I think Xbox is more capable than any of them to branch out into those areas with ease.

I want to see the rather phat list of Xbox games out n\' running before I can get excited about any of them and will dismiss the hype for xbox on a PS2 forum as I please.

You can dismiss whatever you please, but PS2 looked great before there were games up and running, same with XB. And there are games up and running on XB. Munch, Malice, Halo, Azurik, Nightcaster, etc are all running. Are you saying you never got excited about a PS2 gamebefore you saw the finished game? If so, I\'ll call you a damn dirty liar! :p You can be excited about gamesthat aren\'t in stores. And the announced list of XB games looks great. It\'s got more hot properties than DC ever got. And I really liked DC, so it stands to reason, most people would be excited about XB (and GC for that matter. )

Have you looked at the close up Munch pics? See the moist eyes with their reflectiveness? I think XB will be fine in the graphics department. That\'s just my opinion though. We\'ll see....

In my ****ing opinion, the Xbox line-up doesn\'t look good or bad, just unclear. Halo is being developed by Bungie who never made a good game before and Munch is being developed by a Bunch of fools! Haha get it? Bunch munch? Ok it wasn\'t that funny but the last to Abe games were not anything special and they\'ve never even done a 3D game before.
But the point is we don\'t know whether Xbox games will be good or not because Microsoft doesn\'t have a developers that we absolutely know will make good games that you\'ll enjoy. They have the PC developers but what about the big name ones with their key franchises? Sega seems to be the only one that comes to my mind and they\'ll probably make ports of all their Xbox games.
That\'s why I\'m not getting Xbox. I don\'t know what to expect from it so I\'ll stick with someone more reliable. Aka Nintendo...

I don\'t doubt Nintendo will have great success with GC, and Sony\'s already had success with PS2, but these don\'t have to be at the expense of XB. The markets getting bigger and bigger. There\'s room for 3. And we all know what happens when one companies in control too long... if there are no options, there\'s no way to keep Sony and Nintendo in check.

Well, first of all I don\'t care. :p Second, I\'d like to see these expressions. Have they actually played both of the games yet?

If you read my last post attentively, then you would of known that I mean the Xbox isn\'t getting any MUST HAVE games like MGS2, FFX, Mario, in the lines of those games. And they ones that might be great will all be on other systems like Tony Hawk and what ever.

Erk... Bungie have won themselves a huge and very loyal fan base because of their excellent Marathon and Myth series. I am going to assume that you just haven\'t researched them and this is like a Mac gamer saying "Rare sucks" simply because they haven\'t had a chance to try many of thier games. Really, you could not have said something farther from the thruth.
As for Oddworld, I think the quality of there current game speaks volumes about their talent.

In other words, you don\'t an Xbox because you don\'t know what to expect but at the same time you will not listen to the first clues about what to expect? Then why bother entering this thread if all you are going to do is just going to bath yourself in ignorance and stand on the sidelines sticking your tongue out a the Xbox?

I have not seen the moisture/reflectiveness in munch and it does sound impressive, although I wonder where you\'d see it during the game. The last still shot of munch I saw (from gamestock?) looked basically about as detailed as the PSX 2D version in a 3D world. So you could say I\'m way behind the times. After downloading the Doom3 video with 56k I was so disappointed I swore off trying to see what\'s up in running mode for a while, at least until after E3.
The fact is, in just the last week or two I\'ve decided that term fanboy is no longer so derogatory as I once thought. It just means, to me personally, the willingness to overlook possible faults, the tendency to look on the bright side of a chosen console. On the flip side the ease with which those willing to bait, name call, insult each others intelligence, and stretch the truth in order to score points for a chosen side is trollish behavior. I\'m willing to look the other way when it comes from a obviously pro PS2 member on a PS2 forum and tend to use the skunk eye when reading all else. So EThugg, don\'t take it as a personal insult if you hear the term xbox fanboy coming from me. Troll however...
On a side note; I\'ve been through Abe\'s Oddysee. Doesn\'t matter how good the graphics are, I won\'t be picking up the sequels. Anyone looking forward to the xbox version needs to give the original a try first. Just a friendly warning

I have Abes Oddysee and Exodus, I enjoyed both very much... Both games also reached greatest hit status I believe....

I saw this in a video too, I can\'t find it though... It looks even better in motion.. you feel like your looking at a living creature. That\'s a in-game cinema, that\'s the reason for the angle. I wish I could find the video. When he closes and opens the eyelids... it\'s extremely realistic.

I\'m relieved you\'re not anticipating it just based on looks. Did you make through all the secret levels? I\'d honestly be impressed if you did. They just sort of sucked the fun right out of it me.

You can swivel around the camera and look a Munch\'s eyes for a nice "wow" effect but beyond that it will most likely be useful for in-game cut-scenes (and a few places during the action where the camera switches to a much more cinematic view). I was thoroughly entertained by Oddworld\'s style in the first two games for about an hour and then stopped playing but Munch is a different beast all together (3D obviously makes it much less restrictive, the game is a lot faster, and the interaction between Munch and Abe makes the puzzles more entertaining) so I would recommend trying it out before you make a decision.

No, I didn\'t beat em 100%, but I enjoyed them. Same as Rayman 1. 100% on these games is murder on anyone but the most devoted and talented gamers.

Oops, I should have waited for the whole thread to load, missed the shot. The pic shows the detail level on the characters, less the eyeball, is even lower than the PSX version. At least they are outside, a nice change of pace from the first one.
I check often and have seen neither on the shelves as greatest hits.

That is irrelevant. If they are making a great looking 3D game now, why would it matter if they have never made a 3d game before? It doesn\'t make sense.

Those four games might be good, but you should at least wait until you see some pictures/movies/impressions of them before you get excited about them. And I agree, anyone who has already written the Xbox off is very foolish.

For starters,
I know Ethugg is not an xbox fanboy. He just loves to stir things up and argue. :)
Secondly, I don\'t think the Xbox lineup is stellar, nor horrible. It\'s adequate IMO.. I\'m still undecided as to whether I\'ll be getting it or not. Though having SEGA\'s support is already enough reason to.

The PS2 and NGC are going to have equal, if not more support from Sega than the Xbox. ;) This console war is going to rely on a lot more than one developer anyways, so it doesn\'t really matter. :)

The puzzles in Oddysee were intelligent in addition to a lot of overall original content in story and gameplay but the agility feats I found too taxing to want to return for another version. Plus the scenery and goofy noises got old. I might be willing to give it another try if I hear the 3D version is much better and the dreaded black box ends up being too cheap to pass up. Ya never know.
And yes, I\'ll fess up, the list of games is getting long and tempting.

True. But If SEGA develops games that are going to be exclusive to the box, then I\'m gonna have to get one. If the new Jet Grind doesn\'t appear elsewhere, or Panzer for that matter, then the box is mine.

The graphics are irrelevant. I\'m talking about gameplay and a lot of developers have ****ed up when they convert their games from 2D to 3D . It kind of screws them up and it makes the game seem different. Examples: The PS2 Street Fighter, Donkey Kong 64, Sonic Adventure, ect. Some can do it perfectly, but others can\'t.
Oddworld is just going to have trouble making the game good while sticking to some original features. I\'m not saying they can\'t make it good but I\'m just saying its a possibility since other developers have experienced this.

yes, i agree with jumpman, if any of you know of age of empires II:age of kings, the sequel to the series will be their first 3d strategy game. i think it is also going to be one of the first, they may mess it up, they may do it good. but i hope they do it good, cuz i love that series....
their strat. games are just unbelieveable...
developers have trouble going from sprites, to polygons.. its that simple... it makes games look better and run faster when they are 3d too......

Good point. It is hard to convert a game from 2d to 3d, and a lot of developers struggle with this. The Oddworld developers are a very talented group of people though. They know how important it is to keep the 2d game\'s playability while putting it into 3d, and I\'m sure they have thought about the problem a lot. They know how important this game is for the Xbox\'s success when it is launched. We will see when the game is out though.

If you will not be interested in the Xbox until you learn more about it but then shrug of the information presented to you then why enter an Xbox-related thread? The only thing you will be able to do is state that you don\'t care and that you don\'t know anything.

Wow, those Obi-Wan pics suck pretty bad.
but I guess this is LucasArts we are talking about. The last good games to come from them after the long dry spell of pure crap was Grim Fandango and the new Monkey Island game, beyond that, expect crap from them.

These are almost certainly shots from the PC version and IGN even says as much.

Besides Lucas ARTS sucks. Maybe in the future they will make a good game for a change.

"Spinning Sabre Attack" and "Great Lighting and Battle droid death" are the ones that Lucas Arts is showing with their announcement. Hopefully Lucas Arts have been working on bringing it over since they first canceled Obi-Wan for the PC last year.

Ok your missing some obvious information:
I have different preferences than everyone else. Good reviews or impressions never make me want to rush out and buy the game. I\'m fucy about games. Only the best gets in my house. That\'s why I don\'t care.

3. I should point out that I\'m not interested in the Xbox right NOW. My opinions could change since I\'m a openminded gamer. I had the full intention of buying a PS2 last year but decided to go with DC instead since the games were better(and I was once a DC basher too but all that changed).

Oddysee is a GH game.
Everyone else- You guys have said sooo many things, and I\'m too lazy to address them all, so I\'ll just say this: At this pre-launch, pre-E3 time, I\'m more than happy with the titles announced so far.

I think we should put up a poll as to weither everyone thinks Jumpman is a troll or not. For once, I finally agree with TheOGodlyThing.. you are a troll Jumpman. Nearly every thread I\'ve seen you posted in has (litterally) gone down in flames. You breed conflict like a disease, and play the innocent "Who me?" character hoping noone will notice under your geius of "Hardcore Gamer". I honestly think you enjoy getting into arguments, and try to use your PS2 support to get people to leave you alone. You\'re not as bad as N-Player2 or the other supposedly "Sony Supporting" trolls around here.. but you\'re not far removed.
BTW: You are also a hypocrite. So blatantly you say you don\'t care what other people think or say of the GameCube and it\'s games. Yet nearly every Nintnedo bashing thread has a post from you.. vigilantly defending Nintnedo and it\'s licences. Not to mention the fight you gave me and Livin in Clip after we speculated on how the shift from a 2d platformer Metroid to a 3D shooter may destroy the heart of the series. It seems to me like you care an awful lot about what other people think of the GameCube (And Nintnedo in general).. but you\'re just not willing to admit that when you try to put others down for doing exactly what you do. Defend their console of choice. (Which in this case, happens to be the Xbox)

About half of them that did post in your thread don\'t care for you or just don\'t have an opinion one way or another (and most of THEM hated you at some time, but are over it now). The rest are, for the most part, Newbies who haven\'t even been around long enough to really know you.
Why are you so concerned with conveying the point that people here like you, or at least respect you? Is it so that you can establish some kind of backup and credibility for your weak arguments and flames? Eh, whatever. Dude, you\'re not nearly as well liked or respected here as you would like to think (or as you would others to think). Don\'t try to take that as me saying most people here don\'t like you. From feeling the way the wind has been blowing lately, I\'d say most just don\'t care about you or find you mildly annoying.

First of all, I don\'t care about what people think of me. I don\'t care if they like or hate me.

Man why do so many people like me? I thought I was one of the most hated members here(kind of like the HHH of PSX2Central). Now I find out that everyone has nothing against me.
