Everywhere I look there has been talk on this forum about the new processor for the ps3, and people posting all this junk about the ps3 etc etc
Is everyone upset that microsoft and gamecube are powerful in some specs and want a new system?
Or is everyone just not satisfied on this forum with there system?
It looks like alot of jealously
Quite frankly Im glad I bought a ps2, There are so many games I want and I dont know how to chose
So whocares how powerful the other systems are, It all boils down to which system offers the most fun
Afterall isn\'t that the purpose of why people buy consoles? :)
-
I agree with everything, except \'boils down to which ones the most fun\'. For me, I get em all, so I can enjoy them all. But I certainly agree with your PS2 sentiments. It\'s a great system, with a great future.
-
Ethugg I share your same opinion. I would get them all too. I have many systems
But lets look at this realistically, most people I know in my area only buy one system and stick with it, or just cant afford multiple. Thats why I say look for the one that offers the most fun your looking for
Plus there\'s alot of fanboy\'s out there too so you know they would be looking only towards one system hehe

Yes, I realize that.
Some people think I\'m a XB fanboy... despite the fact that I\'m a true blue Sega fanboy... :D
-
I think we should wait 4 years and then...

Don\'t worry Ethugg, I\'ve always known you were a true blue Sega fanboy. :D

Imo talk about PS3 is talk about the nails in the PS2\'s
coffin. c\'mon hey !
Live in the present. The situation is that NGC and XBOX are just around the corner and they\'re gonna face each other real soon.
As for the PS2... , Sony is gonna have to deal with bigtime competition !
I\'m not surprised if Nintendo is going to steal E3 this year.
That\'s the competition now for PS2, that\'s it , PS3 is vaporware for years still.

but knotter, remember, ps2 has a huge userbase...
and gamecube is competing for a different age group.(they stated that earlier, but IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THERE WILL BE ONLY KIDDIE GAMES!!!)
x box has to fight sony for market share... and that will be tough cuz sony has won japan.... so they have to compete with a system that is going to be 50$ cheaper than theirs(e3), and that has better software support.
nintendo HAS to Steal E3, in order to regain the hype behind their console, and microsoft has to beat sony...
but i think all sony has to do is sit back and show off the price drop, a bunch of AAA titles (MGS2, GT3,Wipeout Fusion, Twisted Metal:black, plus more to be announced at e3, including naughty dogs title, supposedly having the ps2 mascot.) and the new internet harddrive and eithernet stuff and i think they will have won this console war... (im sure they will go farther. sony wants to win, but hey so do microsoft and nintendo.)
Nintendo has the biggest floor space at e3, expect tem to use it wisely :) ;) :D

 this is pretty silly, do you honestly believe the PS2 will fail because they devote some resources towards the future
All companies talk about there future products. ALL succesful companies plan for the future and live beyond the present.
SOny was investing into the PS2 when the PSx was in its infancy and there doing the same thing with the PS2. Sony shareholders are very interested in knowing where SOny is investing its future.
On top of that the fact that Sony has people working on the PS3 5 years in advance only means it will be considerably more advanced then it could be if they started working on it in 2004.
As for Nintendo or Xbox providing competition.... NO ****!!! but nothing they do is going to keep SOny from having a solid market share. NOTHING
Nintendo and MS will also be competing in 2005- 2006 with there next offerings. Do you think MS and Nintendo will decide to wait until 2004 before thinking about their future ??????

yeah that was one of the problems with the dreamcast, they made it in about one year, they didnt think too much about design or where technology will go, thats why i like what sony does(not to mention nintendo, they do it good too :D)...:D

ehmm....please don\'t get me wrong DDaryl ;) , but I was just trying to say that imo it\'s silly for us gamers to speculate on PS3 now already.
About that thing I said about NGC and xbox. Where I live,
that\'s in the Netherlands, although I moved to Shadow Mose Island, ( and you\'re maybe thinking what\'s that small European country all heavy about ). alot of game mags and websites here have high expectations on NGC and XBOX.
Even a game mag( \'Power Unlimited\') I used to buy monthly ( used to! ), which often dissed n64 games is eager for NGC now.
stronger than that however ( stating the mag ):
" .....it could help the plagued PS2 !"
That kinda stuff I see everyday over here. I\'m just giving examples as facts of ppls oppinions here in Europe.
So most of the ppl here still feel that Ps2 has to prove alot. Thats not totally illogical because Sony didn\'t manage to get alot of games here, the ones you guys in America and Japan are playin for months now like Onimusha, Ring of Red etc..

people arent speculating were talking about what sony said nothing more really

Falcon4 - I was under the impression that sony had decided not to lower the cost of the PS2 at E3 by 50 bucks. Rather, they plan to lower it by a whopping 100 bucks at (I don\'t remember the name) q-- a few months later (around release time for the GC and box).

As Ddaryl said, all companies do this. I stated in another thread and I will state it again. IT IS R&D!!!!!!!!!!!!
This happens with every system. You release one and then start work on the next system ASAP . It isn\'t because the PS2 is doomed or anything. It is just how the buisness works. You start as soon as possible on your next project to stay ahead, and if some news / information gets leaked it is just good marketing / hype for the future.
The PS2 is not going to fail just because of some simple competion. Lets face it, the Saturn wouldn\'t of failed in the 32bit era if it wouldn\'t of been because of some bad marketing choices. Like releasing the SegaCD , 32X and then a suprise launch. Sega had a extremely good amount of the market at the time and the N64 was at least 2 years away (Ultra64,ha) and no one had a clue what the Ps would be like. But now, Sony has a extremely good part of the market , reputation and close to a year ahead of time before the others. They are gurantee\'d success in this generation, but they *could* in theory screw up the next generation by messing up with the HD and other add-ons.
To be blunt and simple: Sony has too good of a reputation and market share in this generation to fail. Any big mistakes they make down the road would cost them when releasing their next system, not this one. The only thing the GC and Xbox can do is provide competion and make them look over their shoulder--something they didn\'t have to do at ALL during the 32bit era.
The PS2 is here to stay. The PS3 is currently R&D, and we won\'t see it for 5 years. So, why is everyone calling it the Xbox killer and worrying about the PS2 fading away?
Geeze.

"yeah that was one of the problems with the dreamcast, they made it in about one year, they didnt think too much about design or where technology will go," - Falcon4
Actually, that couldn\'t be farther from the truth. Sega\'s Dreamcast is actually very elegantly designed, if a bit underpowered compaired to it\'s three competetors. That couldn\'t be helped. Sega was sinking faster than a rock, and they had to do something. Their finacial position forced them to adopt less powerful hardware (which would cost less for production and retail) and an easy to develop for archetecture which they hoped would score brownie points with 3rd parties alienated by the Saturn. However, the PS2 anticipation and customer estrangement turned out to be just too great an obstical to Sega\'s finacial position.
They did the best with what they could afford, and they created a machine that has surpassed nearly everyone\'s expectations. Not a bad job, IMO.
