Post by: unknown on May 10, 2001, 07:56:09 PM: Woah!, great find DDARYL, wheni read alone int he dark i thought to myself, the PS1 game, then the image loads and im.... joyful, people have said that the game isnt allt hat great, but i am sure to give this puppy a try :) i like the water effects, ah and by the way everyon, im buying silpheed tomorrow so expect a review on it from me :)

I wonder how long this one will be, I can see it easily being 20 hours or more (the first could be done in like 1-2 hours)....

One of the scariest games of all time, and a memory wich brought me nightmares when I was just a small child, is Alone in the Dark. I remember when I watched my dad play it, and I lost my sleep to the game.

If AITD4 can create as scary and tight atmosphere as AITD could, it\'s going to be one h3ll of a game. I\'m going to check it out, no matter what the reviews say ;)

If nothing else, I hope we can look forward to some good voice acting/writing for a change. Let\'s see how the Japanaeese like jumbled up sentinces and increadibly dorky sounding lead characters. :)

Bob, I don\'t see how you can be really "Blown Away" by these pics. From the looks of it there\'s really nothing special there aside from the way the flashlight/torches light up the pre-rendered background. Now if it was all in 3D.. then I\'d be really impressed. But it\'s not. This is really just a very pretty version of the same basic "Graphic Adventure" enviroment used and modified throughout the years from games like King\'s Quest 1 up to Onimushia. Hell I bet the programming is actually very similar to some of those early 1980\'s games.. replace sprites with polygon models.. define hotspots and parameters.. set up triggers.. ect.. ect..

It does look badass though, and it\'s definately a must rent if not a must buy simply for the experience and to see how they continued the storyline. AitD series kicks ass.

Post by: kopking on May 11, 2001, 07:21:33 AM: wow those look great, ive been waiting for this to come out on the ps2 as ive heard it good on the ps1. who cares if the bacgrounds arent fully 3d, onimusha wasnt and that rocks, they look like they show up light effects on them so there not fully pre rendered

The lighting effects really brought the game alive and it looked like something beyond the PSOne\'s capabilities. I\'ll wait for the PS2 version \'cause it looks just a bit cooler (not such a big surprise). That water ripple also looks... well, I don\'t know, but if it\'s on par with the ones seen in Baldurs Gate, good (like wow).

I\'ve been hungry for a good horror adventure ever since I finished Silent Hill (somehow I have this feeling that SH2 will be THE horror game, but this AitD looks nice too).

But behind this pre-rendered gloss, every location is built of polygons, resulting in the realistic behaviour of light around the surroundings. (in CyberNet some of the developers demonstrated the wireframes hidden under each intricately detailed background). Or something... looks cool nevertheless :)

Alone in the dark 4 is not american, it comes from a french company....

The PSX version is supposed to be out in June
The PS2 version in September

If it\'s not, forgive my arrogance, but the point I\'m getting at is that the original language of the game will be english, so there\'ll be no need for a translation (I.E. half-assed rush translations that makes the dialouge end up sounding like it was written by a 8th grader.)

company. I think it\'s based in Lyon, and the chairman of Infogrammes is a guy called Bruno Bonnel.
Anyway Infogrammes has been making a lot of business theses last years, buying
small developpers and making alliances. So it\'s really hard to tell where they\'re from.

Anyway, I think you\'re right and the voice acting should be in English. And the game\'s going to be
great, I love survival horror.

September is going to be a great month....( RECV + Alone....)
