To me all the consoles dont look that much different,in the graphics department what do you all think,to me they all have jaggies, and the textures dont look much better, here is a picture of the Gamecube madden:
Xbox
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gaming-age.com%2Fmedia%2F2001%2Fmay%2Foutlawgolf%2F5.jpg&hash=711bc9e90e88a6377529ad794baba34f7f17e0e9)
look at the golf club in the xbox picture, that looks ****,actually that game looks really bad, dont you think, looks like the pictures we saw of this game a little while ago were really doctored,i really dont think there is going to be much difference at all this generation.
p.s sorry guys i dont know why the pictures,of the gamcube and ps2 games wouldnt work, but what do you all think.
-
Ethan, i saw the X-box playing amped and loads of other stuff lastnight on [.tv] it looked **** imho. There was
quite a bad vsync tearing on amped and every game they showed had slowdown. looks like it\'s been hyped up
too much imho. there was nothing there that my Ge-Force 2 DDR couldn\'t handle. pathetic.
For those who have Sky digital it was on a program called Game Over on channel 567

damn pressed quote intsed of edit.. sorry for the double post
-
Ahem, nice choice of a pic you got there. I think I like the beavershot of Anna in Tekken Tag that DR posted a bit more though. ;)
BTW: Since when did Madden have anything to do with golf in it? Is it part of the half-time show or something?
-
Sorry, but when my XB is hooked up to the widescreen HDTV I\'m getting, It will look better than most of PS2\'s stuff through the component cable. It\'s a fact..... I don\'t know if GC supports HDTV, so I\'m not sure... but it\'s also more powerful than PS2, so I\'d assume so.
How can we compare 1 pic to nothing? and worst of all, It\'s a S&S game! Trust me, a year from now PS2\'s cheap motion blur technique will stop being cool, and you\'ll realize that not much on PS2 outside of GT3, FFX and MGS2 looks that great.... gameplay counts, and by then, there\'ll be lots of great games, but your talking about graphics, so.... again, GC seems to be the only wildcard. It\'s bound to be comparable to XB, but how much so? I looked at the RS2 shots, and I wasn\'t that excited... maybe cause I didn\'t like RS1, but still...
-
WOW Ethugg when did you get your Xbox,i didnt know it was out!dont be a ****,how the hell do you know what will be better?
My post is about how most of the games this generation, have the same graphics,if my links had worked then you would have seen it too.
Also as i said about the pics, the ps2 and gamecube links wouldnt work, but they are both madden pics, that looked the same as each other.
p.s Ethugg how old are you?
-
One more thing, sony fan can you post the picture of the tekken pic,you was talking about?
-
I hate to rain on anyones parade, but every console is going to have ****ty looking games. Do you think the PS2 doesn\'t have any? If so, go look at Surfin\' H30 or maybe any of the 3DO games? Or how about Sony\'s own 989 studio produced games? HELLO? Gameday 2001, anyone??? I gurantee the GameCube will have crappy lookin\' games also. No system can avoid a few stinkers... Not to mention that picture was on a non-finished Xbox kit and many other things (i.e, early development). Until we see finished products, it is best not to judge. But, either way you look at it, the systems won\'t have a huge graphical difference among each other, this generation.
On another note, this really does belong in Console Debating.

Then why did you start this thread to begin with?
-
he was trying to compare graphics of the Xbox/GC/PS2 - but i don\'t think it is fair to compare three games and one not be the same as the others - It would be fair to comapre three games that are alike or on all the systems that way you could see how a developer worked with each one and how they used the power of each one
thats the only way to truely compare graphics IMO
-
I know it is unfair to judge different games, but i had a picture of madden on ps2 and Gamecube to compare, but couldnt find one for Xbox, but they wouldnt load up,but the pic on the ps2 and Gamecube looked exactly the same,i couldn\'t believe it.
Ethugg i was saying that the graphics look the same so far,why have you always got to be the total opposite of people just to make them angry,i know you are intitled to your oppinion, but not to just piss people off.

But pissing people off is what I do!... :(
I don\'t think it\'s too smart to compare a system that\'s months away with a system that\'s been out for so long. But that\'s my opinion...
-
Ethan_Hunt, you\'re right about all the systems look kinda same. Here\'s the GameCube and PS2 madden shots. Compare. When EA makes Madden 2002 for PS2, then it will make no differents. :D
PS2 Madden 2001

GameCube Madden 2002 The players look more correct in hight.

You seem to imply the PS2 can\'t output to HDTV, but supposedly the "special" edition of FFX will include HDTV graphics support and higher res FMV, so......
I could be wrong, since it\'s been a while since I read anything about the special edition, but I\'m pretty sure that\'s what it said.
-
I dunno Ethan.. since DR went down I\'d have to host the pic on my own site, which happens to be Geo****ties. I have no idea weither they\'ll let me link to pics there or not anymore. Here\'s a try though...
Nope, sorry... I tried to use the attach file option, but the pic is just too big. I can try to E-mail it to you sometime along with a few other humours videogame pictures if you want.
-
Just post a link to it.

Some say comets will fall from the sky followed by a meteor showers and tidal waves followed by fault lines that cant sit still followed by millions of dumbfounded dip-****s and some say the end is near, some say we\'ll see armaggedon soon, certainly hope so.
That Madden shot from the GC, supposedly ain\'t from the system, but from the PS2. Cube.ign.com had something about it.

Well, since I haven\'t gotten my HDTV yet, I\'m not 100% sure, but I remember reading that XB will be the first console with real HDTV support. I\'ll find out when I get it, but I was under the assumption that there\'s a cable that\'s better than component for HDTV that I could use with XB. If that\'s true, It would be better than the component cable for PS2, and I know for sure that component is the best that PS2 has. We\'ll see.... maybe XB will just utilize the component cable better...

Taken from Active Buyer\'s guide (http://www10.activebuyersguide.com/abg/nav/StartPageHandler.cfm?PID=91X10X19X1340X357a&option=Basics&CatID=135&RefID=91&check=0) to digital TV.
Component Video Input
Component video input is used to help upgrade the quality of the video and is the best video input available. It separates the video signal into 3 component part to improve resolution, picture detail, and provide great color accuracy.
I know that to get the best possible performance from your DTV you will want a reciever that will take an optical cable for the sound channel, and then component video will still be used for visuals. That\'s the setup I have now with my PS2.

I learn something new everyday. Thanx for the nfo.
-
I was glancing at the specs for both consoles at ign... it says HDTV Support in the XB specs, but it doesn\'t on the PS2 specs.... if it is compatible, why wouldnt they list it? And if it doesn\'t warrent mentioning, why mention it in the XB specs?

How many people will use the HD-TV function, 8000 has been sold in Sweden, that is 0,1% of the population.
It is totally meaningless in this generation (IMO).

Only to people who don\'t have it. Not everyone has broadband either, so why aren\'t you saying that\'s meaningless too? I now have both, which = fuller, better experience for me :D Now if only more games had widescreen.....

It\'s because BB is becoming far, far more common in North America. HDTV is here, but very expensive, still only available through expensive satelite systems, and a (very) few digital cable providers. They are trying to switch over by 2006, but that is a long way off. It is difficult because HDTV is totaly incompatible with our current TVs, so it really isn\'t worth mentioning on consoles.
It really doesn\'t make sense to use analogies where you compare two things with completely different properties. Right now, HTDV is about as common as beta :).
Go check out if Xbox games are in HDTV. I doubt it, that takes a LOT more room, and is specialized... note, 1 DVD FFX is normal, 2DVD FFX is HDTV supported version version (that can still output to normal TV though)... so right there, it takes 2x as much space. Find out if the box, like the PS2 supports HDTV, and then certain games will be HDTV, or if all games are (I doubt it).

Incompatable? I hooked up DVD, PS2, DC and my Digital Cable to it.... seems compatable enough to me. I know they aren\'t taking advantage of the HDTV resolutions yet, but consoles like XB and maybe GC, PS2 will in the near future. I paid $3300 for it, once prices go down a bit more (IMO they will within 2 or 3 years, well within these consoles lifetimes) more people will buy them. Like you said, 2005/6 people will need to get one or a converter box... BB has little penetration into the market too, although more common than HDTV\'s, it\'s still rare enough that in its current state, Sony (and MS\'s) online plans aren\'t going to succed. ****, everyone has phone lines and DC was packing the modem, and it was usually fast enough, and yet Seganet was only a moderate success. The point is that XB\'s specifications say explicitly that it has HDTV support, and PS2 doesn\'t. My guess is that XB will be capable of output of a greater resolution than PS2. If not, Sony\'s push to make the PS2 the centerpeice of every entertainment center will be a little weaker for no reason. If there\'s one thing I\'m sure of, it\'s that Sony definitely would not include a cool sounding feature like HDTV support, then decide not to tell anyone. FFX is not the standard for anything, and you do not need 2 discs to do HD.
hmmm.... that\'s a lot of rambling.....

Bossieman, like the pic dood. but how can such a genius look so dumb. It\'s not an attack on you at all but he just
looks insane... LOL :D
