This is from PlanetGamecube (http://www.planetgamecube.com) and it is exclusive.

It looks really cool.Nintendo makes great logos (I loved the N64 logo) and this is improving upon the 3d effect on that logo.
-
That looks very familiar. Is there an investment company or something from a Sci-Fi movie that has something almost exactly like it?
-
Looks like something straight out of Robocop. Can\'t say why though.
-
Looks pretty cool.
Thx Gohan.
-
I cant say why, but...that is the best logo of this generation.

I\'d just like to say that, for the record, I didn\'t see this here first. ;]
It\'s cool looking though because it\'s clearly a cube shape, but if you ignore the shading and look at it as a flat image, it looks like a G.
What\'s more interesting is that it looks like the controller now has longer legs for us goony Americans and our ape-like appendages... Who knows, after that, maybe they added another shoulder button after all...

That was my impression as well...

No way. I\'m not being biased here but I personally(key word) think the PS2 logo looks the coolest.
But it really just comes down to a personal preferance.
-
the PS2 logo is PS2, how long did the brains at Sony take to develop that one?
GC is a cube shaped G, with a C on the inside non-line, with another cube in the middle. GC, DC, PS2, X-Box.

Yeah well.....I wasn\'t talking to you anyway. :D
Maybe I should go to E3 now and hide in a crate or something. That way I can get in for free and I won\'t have to pay for lodging. I am sure I would get plenty to eat because gamers are generally a husky bunch and also tend to be sloppy, so I gets all the scraps I can handle. Gotta go make preparations. Cya at E3. :)
-
True, it does look cool and all. And admittedly the PS2 logo is just PS2 but the font looks cool and if you noticed it starts off blue at the top and gradually turns to purple and then to kind of dark pink. Sure, not very innovative but I like it.
-
For the record here are some better pics. I guess a Nintendo insider leaked it a little while ago and the spies at PlanetGamecube confirmed it as the official logo. :D

While I\'m here I might as well post the "changes" to the GCN controller.
loading 2 pics:

There is also a "secret" function of the controller that has yet to be revealed.
-
hmm i wonder what that will be, mabye no controoler wires??? i heard that as a rumor...
-
I like the NGC\'s logo. It does look pretty cool. I didn\'t even notice the "C" that is in the negative space of the logo until I looked at it for a while. :) It looks like it was well thought out.
-
Sweet. Hands down, best console logo ever.
-
I\'m with ya there Ethugg, that is so sweet. I also didn\'t notice that C for a while...
And falcon, the wireless controller has already been done, it\'s called the wavebird. Pretty cool.... I don\'t know if that\'ll be the secret function though. Maybe it has something to do with memory paks??? Maybe some part of the control is detachable or something like that... I don\'t know.
-
Looks almost like something M.C. Esher would come up with. Pretty cool.. I don\'t know if I\'d go so far as to say it was the best console logo ever, but it looks pretty damn good none-the-less. Now if they could only do something about that damn consoles design....... ;)
-
Cool looking logo but i didn\'t see it here first, i saw it on MSXBOX forum (oh the SHAME :crying: ).
why was i there well i as in the Rants and raves section and saw Metal Gear Rays post about i hate FANBOYS and there was a link to that forum ..........
and strange though it may seam they had the same post saying See the GC logo first .......
-
I\'m there with Sonyfan. The logo is cool, but the console
design itself is NOT my style.
I presume I can say this without being flamed because
this is a thread about the logo design and logically about the console design as well. :D
Now, if it had the looks of the Mac G4 Cube.......
( don\'t start that it looks similair because of the cube shape, cause imo the metallic/ transparant style with the
minimalistic lines is prettier. )
But as you all will point out ; it\'s about the games yess.

Yeaphh, best one ever. The original PS logo close behind.
-
This logo is crazy. I\'m so confuseeedddddddd
-
Me personally, I don\'t like it. But that\'s just my opinion. When I look at this logo, it just seems that they were thinking too hard. I can see it now, wastebasket after wastebasket filled to the top with old torn, crumpled up GC logos.
-
Best logo IMO is the old Atari one, or the...

This logo is simply awesome.
Great thinkin\' Nintendo.
-
I think its a pretty original idea... In a way, at least.
Anyways, this gives the DC logo a run for its money (I love that swirl... I don\'t know why I like it so much, either. Its just... yeah.)
-
Real quick, about that "new" controller image... It\'s just an IGN mock-up. The real deal is still underwraps to be unveiled at E3. I think the new mock-up looks worse, but at this point who cares, just release it already! ;]

-
Wouldn\'t it be funny if they completely redid the controller design and made it more like the N64 controller instead of just doing a little adjustment like we are expecting. :) That would suck pretty bad.
-
well i like the logo a lot
looks a lot different than all the others...i like that
-
Im not overly keen on the Gamecube logo, but thats just my preference but it is without a doubt the best design for a logo out of all the consoles from this generation. I do however prefer the colours and design of the PS2 logo.
I also didn\'t notice that inner C to begin with. :D
-
I also think this is the coolest logo ever. I like the 3D design and the illusion. Very nice. :) If it took you any more than 5 seconds to figure out that logo than something is wrong with you...(I\'m just saying this because I thought the inear "C" and the "G" were really noticeable)...
I already mentioned the controller changes!

Two Z-Triggers are probably the extra feature in my opinion.

The guys at IGN said that there are only 3 shoulder buttons so we\'ll just have to wait and see.

There is some technological connection between SGI and Nintendo, right? Maybe that explains the cubosity.
-
You got that right Coredweller,
the N64 was actually a down-scaled Silicon "Indy" graphics workstation
And the "Flipper" in NGC is designed again by that
company ( damn I forgot the name ) who made N64\'s.
The guy who started that company was a former SGI
employee ( high position though if \'employee\' sounds
low to you ! )
BTW Rareware uses Maya ( Alias Wavefront )for it\'s games. It all started on hardware like SGI\'s.

I believe you are talking about MIPS and ArtX. And yes, the founder of ArtX was a former MIPS employee.
The reason Nintendo moved away from the N64, however, was that SGI spun MIPS off as a separate division.
Look at SGI now... they are puny compared to the presence they used to command.
-
Well Sgi and Nintendo aren\'t the only ones that use MIPS based processors.
A number of PDA\'s use low power MIPS procs (Casio Casseopea if I remember correctly).
And the PS.2 uses a MIPS.3 variant.
