LOL!

Yeah just delete the Windows system files. Windows will not load and your dad will think the computer is screwed up.

Although I\'m not endorsing the planned sabotoge of your dad\'s computer...

If you want to sabotage your comp so that your dad has no choice (assuming he knows nothing about comps) but to replace:

1.  Move/change/delete important files in the windows directory, this includes such things as .dlls, registry files, and key .exe files - make sure you hit your HDD boot sector, so even if he formats, it won\'t boot.

2.  If you don\'t care about your hdd (if it\'s small), take it out, scratch it, break a couple pins, use a magnet - whatever, just ruin it, and when your comp won\'t boot, blame it on the whole system.

3.  Go and download a "speed dial" that lets you slow down your CPU, then over the next few weeks, have it slowly slow your CPU till you are running at about 10% - your dad will have no choice but to upgrade :).

I think 3 is the best idea, cause it involves no permanent damage, so you will have 2 comps after...

1 isn\'t bad, you will probably have to reformat and then reinstall your OS if you really **** up the files.

2.. is.. er.. fun.

Geez. Deleting Windows system files is one thing but totally destroying your HDD is kinda going a bit too far.

You really want a new comp huh?

Heh heh, there are three ways to do it, depending how much he really wants a new comp ;).  I recommended choice #3 though... those speed utils are easy to find and use, and his dad won\'t notice untill it\'s too late (unless he knows about comps, which I assume he doesn\'t)...

Well you can always just go into the Windows folder and delete random files. But that can be easely fixed by a simple reinstall.

Or you can into into more extreme measures and do things like loosening heatsinks and jamming the heatsink fans etc...

I don\'t know what kind of processor you have,so I don\'t know if it will over heat or not.

Or you could just download SiSoft\'s Sandra and benchmark your computer.
If it\'s old it\'ll get bad scores, and the program compares it to modern day processors :)
Thus when you dad sees the bad scores your computer is getting,he might think about getting a new comp.

This one\'s easy to do and undo:

Right-click on "My Computer" and select properties.
Click the "Performance" tab
Click "Virtual Memory"
Click "Let me specify my virtual memory settings"
Set maximum to something like 5 megabytes - or less???? :^)

Take a nap while Windows tries to open your web browser.

Or if you have Win2k,you could always install the newest EasyCD creator :D

Some more ideas:

Open the case and "loosen" some of the boards, say... the video card, just enough that it looks ok, but won\'t get info from the MB.  (You can\'t even format with this one)...

Write a short program that will freeze your computer by sending an invalid command to the CPU, then put it in the startup menu (it\'ll still boot in safe mode).  (Format will fix this one)...

Go into your bios and turn off your HDD, or mess with it\'s cylinder count or some ****.... Then after your dad gets a new comp, you can put it back, and have both comps!  (This one will work even after a format)...

Okay, some questions... but 1st of all I REALLY REALLY want a new one but I DO want to keep this one...

How do I go into my bios? What the hell is that, lol?

Where can I find speed dial

If you don\'t know what a bios is, you probably shouldn\'t mess with it.

If you are like me, and you would neways, just reboot, and watch for a "press ... to enter bios" in the first few seconds of the boot.... 99% of the time it\'s the del key or F1 key.  Then it will be there, under drive control (or simmilar), but this is an easy way to really **** up something, so don\'t change it unless you know what you are changing, and you can change it back.

BIOS=Basic Input Output System

It\'s the foundation of your computer,it\'s stored on the BIOS chip on the mobo. You can modify the settings of your comp.

As FatalXception said,don\'t mess with what you don\'t know,it might bite back or something similar.

But if you want a new comp why not just safe money like everybody else ;)

Ohh and check out my previous post about benchmarking,if your comp is as old and bad as you say, then your dad will see how it compares to other systems.

Anything software related can be fixed by a simple reinstall / rebuilding the files or what not.

I would damage the actual hardware , if I was you. But, be sure that if your father takes it to a Tech, then it will probably be noticed why your HD is not loading up or what not (i.e, "Sir, we are sorry. IT looks like someone ripped that P3 out of the motherboard.." ) .
Title: easiest way
Post by: kirath on May 15, 2001, 05:19:17 AM
The easiest way is to install the latest VER. of AOL

This will mess your computer up beyon all recognition..  Be carefull though, for AOL can ifect your mind as well.  You might see yourself chating with your girlfriends, buying into spam to get flowers delivered and you might willing participate in some contest on-line to win a dream house (only putting yourself on more lists for more spam)

But that is really the easiest way to screw your computer..

take your heatsink and fan from your cpu, boost its clock multiplyer in the bios settings, reboot and watch the thing burn in hell. When overheating is complete just put the fan heatsink back on. Or how about breaking some of the cicuitry on the MOBO? breakintg conector on your cards, sabotaging windows, virusses hack programs I dont know???

Yeah I already told him to losen the heatsinks.
But I think that jamming the fans would be a better idea.People would just think that it got filled with dust ,which is quite natural. And the heatsinks can\'t handle the heat by themselves :)
