"GameSpot News has learned that Square will release only one version of Final Fantasy X for the Sony PlayStation 2. Previously, it was reported that two versions--the normal version and the so-called high fidelity version--were planned for release. The game will now come packaged with Other Side of Final Fantasy, a DVD disc that features a video interview with the FFX developers, a trailer for Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Final Fantasy X sketches and concept art, and the latest clips from Square\'s upcoming titles.
Final Fantasy X for the PlayStation 2 is slated for release on July 19 for 8,800 yen (about $71) in Japan. The role-playing game is also scheduled to appear at Square\'s booth during E3 later this week. "

whoa, 70 bucks :(
GOD, I hope I get a job..I would hate to sit around with no means of gathering money to buy a game I may desperately need...
all I have planned for summer is a trip to Oklahoma (friends) and daily CrossCountry training..
I need a job..

So instead of making 2 versions, they just said ta hell with it. As the Japanese would say, Shimata makimashta! and gave us the best version.

Are you sure animal? The hi-fi version was supposed to be 2 DVDs (of game content)... oh well, either way, I certainly can\'t do anything about this... :(
-
The "high fedelity" version was only supposed to incorperate WideScreen and 5.1 Audio for the ENTIRE game not just movies.
Personally Im glad that they are putting it in with the game. Now it is more lickly that they will release it over here. I was darn near positive they wouldn\'t have released it hear other wise.(the bonus edition not the actual game)

No widescreen??? **** it, I\'m not getting this POS then....

If a huge game like FF can\'t throw in widescreen, but will add character sketches and other bull****, I\'m not supporting them. Widescreen is the future.
-
well thats pretty stupid in my opinion
you are playing a game not watching a movie get over it
-
Ill just play it in 4:19 or 4:9 mode on my Widescreen TV :D
Good thing GT3 supports widescreen :D
Cant wait for FFX!!! And the movie!!!!

I\'ll NOT buy what I see fit to not to buy. It\'s ****ing stupid, and I like widescreen games. Who mentioned a movie? Games \'need\' to be in widescreen just as much as movies. I was lukewarm on the game already, so this isn\'t the only factor.
If they can do widescreen (they can) theres no reason not to.

I too am dissapointed that it\'s not being released in one respect... but it may not have made it to Australia, so i don\'t know what to think. Yeah, it would have been nice to be in widescreen, but I\'m not too soured, I just can\'t miss this game... but I am in agreeance in a way with Ethugg... Widescreen lends a game a certain ambience you can\'t get normally. Bah, it\'ll still be a great game :)
