Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and America Online today announced a strategic alliance that will allow the companies to work together to bring the AOL experience to consumers on the PlayStation 2. It will give PlayStation 2 users the ability to use features like instant messaging, chat and email on their computer entertainment system.
SCEI will release a network adapter for the PlayStation 2 that will allow them to connect to the Internet through AOL, as well as play Internet-enabled software, and the two companies will work on a specialized Netscape browser optimized for Sony\'s hardware......

A revolution? With AOL? Please, stop inhaling toxic chemicals.
-
who cares who the deals with, its a step in the right direction :D
-
Yeah really. MS has more resources than AOL. So I bet there online support will be better. i could care less if AOL supported Ps2. According to me, AOL is the ****tyest company in the world (next to MS!) and I hate them
-
I was initially upset, but as long as I don\'t have to actually USE AOL as an isp, I guess----we\'ll see:crap:

All the more reason to worry. And AOL/Time Warner own Road Runner.

It\'s only an article from PS2.IGN...nothing more...nothing less...don\'t be offensive with me :D :)

Crap. It had better not be "Cable" broadband ONLY:(:(
I have DSL, and prefer that over cable(Lag). Besides I can only afford one isp, and I will always be cygnus@blackhole!!! (trivial....yeah, so?!):)
-
they´re the first steps... soon we could enjoy the real online games.
-
Sorry for asking but what is AOL?
-
America Online - its a isp over here in the states - that sucks because its about as reliable as a MS program
-
I\'m a bit fuzzy on the whole online thing for PS2. Are you guys saying that they will force us to use the ISP THEY choose? Will they let us use our own? I have cable, and I really, really don\'t want to get dial-up EVER AGAIN. On the other hand, if they do start out with broadband, will they let me use the provider I have now? I really, really don\'t want to get a seperate account with someone else to play online games. Besides, my wife would NEVER let me! :D

Hey! How the hell did you quote Caspian before he even posted?! Funky...
-
I have read that Sony has made a contract with AT&T :)
They have also bought stocks in swedish phone companies. :D
We will hear more about thier plans on E3!
Tomorrow :)
-
It\'s a dumb deal rather than a done deal.

AoL=worst network for online gaming.
I\'ll be pissed if I can\'t play games becuase of an AoL hook-up.
-
AOL sucks?
Is there a better solution than AOL?
AOL Time Warner is the biggest media firm of the world, so why so scared about it?
-
AOL = A O HELL.
I don\'t even want to know why Sony picked such a bad company for their gaming network.
-
there is an article at ign that says the ethernet adapter will be $39.99 american.. not too shabby..
i wonder what the pakage will cost.
-
AOL is a hackers dream! soon our PS2\'s will get hacked!!!!!! noooooooo!
